So Tim Cook on CBS this morning said there is a big announcement coming tomorrow, but it isn’t a product announcement. What could it be? Acquisition? Content partnership? New Board Member from Communist China?

New Board Member from Communist China? At first I thought that this story was the cause of the sharp drop in AAPL, but I see it’s also across the broader markets too, except TSLA which seems unstoppable. Could tomorrow’s announcement be an Apple social media site? iTalk maybe?

Could tomorrow’s announcement be an Apple social media site? iTalk maybe? God, I hope not. I think that would fall under the definition of product, so I doubt it.

A partnership would be a big announcement that isn’t (yet) a product.
No idea what that might be 😃
It’s really just a guess on my part. But good to see Tim kept a trick from Steve, stringing it out and getting free press

Non-dislousure agreements are always such a sticky point with Apple. Sadly, though our international reach helped us out, the chaos we call the Dungeon must have been what kept us out of a deal this time. If we can all work together a little more, then maybe next time. And hey, to sweeten the deal, I’ll split any figure above $5B with the group, prorated by on-topic posts going forward 👍

Maybe my tinfoil hat is on too tight, but what if Tim announces that Apple is cooperating with authorities and providing iPhone unique identifiers that have been geo-fenced to put those phones at the Capitol at the time of the uprising. Would blow the whole Apple respects your privacy claim to hell, but they are showing they aren't afraid of the MAGA crowd.

Wow, maybe Apple really shouldn't tease us along if that's where our mind wonders to. I think there are easier ways, including the crowdsourced identification that they are already doing. Instead, let's assume that Apple's announcement is a good thing that doesn't somehow greatly segment the current user-base. Wednesday isn't a normal announcement day for Apple. But if there is real truth to the car thing, then if things are far enough along to limit vaporware, and especially with the rash of rumors on it in the last month, my bet is on it. Not an actual product yet. But a partnership of one sort or another. Other possibilities? A major health push, especially as the Berkshire one just dissolved. A major education push? One of the big players is going to do this at some point, setting up a program that brings people up to a certain level, to help fill all of the jobs. There are a lot of jobs out there that need some training/learning, but don't need a full college degree. Now, especially with certain fields underutilized while others are back to searching for workers, seems like good timing. And then there's always a factory related announcement of products or chips, also related to potential jobs, where an announcement could be big even if it doesn't have a current product associated. That's my guess, plus 3 more that immediately came to mind. What other things could it be? Would AppleTV content production, or even buying out UA to get Bond and others, be worthy of a "Big Announcement"?

Seems to trample several of the Constitutional rights (Assembly and Free Speech for starters) that Tim supposedly cares about but hey, I would imagine that most of the Senators that were at the Capitol that day have iPhones too so maybe they could be rounded up too? Maybe not such a bad idea?

Either we have a supply problem, or a demand problem... math is hard.

Little downside, big upside, even if unlikely. Someone is playing the odds Who else has some guesses for Apple? Do they need to have their own fabs to ensure good chip supply, or could they just partner at opening one state side, say a 50% partnership?

AMD in Tucson soon... 3 nm and AAPL subsidizes it, might be Austin.

I placed a second order at Adorama.com, for another MacBook Pro 8GPU, 16GB Ram and 2 TB SSD on Dec 18, called today, told 2/12/2021
I saved $200.00 over AAPL website price, might be the reason... idk.
I miss Luv...She is the reason we are here.

AMD in Tucson soon... 3 nm and AAPL subsidizes it, might be Austin. I like it! AMD has been the underdog, and yet slowly building. I interviewed there 23 years ago, just as the K6 scale-up passed a major turning point. Everyone was excited. But they had the Toyota mentality going, with a "ideas" box right next to the fab doors. This was in San Jose, I think on the second floor, and the window next to it had a smashed bird print on it. The things you remember. They had a nice site out in Austin too, though I was likely going to be on the night shift there. Who knows if I would have even made it to Apple and beyond if I had started out there instead of at Motorola. Want something really out there, while hitting on a competitive advantage? iPhone cryptocurrency mining, with some of those extra cycles! Locked to the iPhone, until redemption. 10% given to charity by default, with the rest going towards your new iPhone. It pays for itself! Only on the Mac. Errr, only on the iPhone! (just read the sfgate article of a guy who forgot his password so can't get to his 7002 coins, worth $25M. He's got 2 attempts left. Opps. OTOH, who knows if he would have spent them years ago if he had access)
