BTW, Jason Schwarz loaded up on Wednesday, thinking that there will be a big move today and Monday. I still think we'll be bound for a while by the wall of calls at 700 today, although I will be buying on dips (should/when they happen). We'll see. Pretty sure Jason backed out again yesterday based on yesterday's action.

BTW. People in line at the AT&T store were joking about Samsung... "Public Service announcement: Samsung has a better phone if anyone wants to go wait in that line..."
LOL.

One of my trading rules kicked in. I closed out about 1/3 of my shorter term options and bought shares with the proceeds. Sold all my Oct $650s, and some Nov and Jan too. The rule is if short term options get to 15%, sell to below 10%. Hope it kicks in again soon!

Checking out the coverage of folks lining up here, there, and everywhere is a stark difference from the 4s launch. Demand seems way up, not much room for the demand FUD we saw with the previous launch. I'm thinking that we may also see a more sustained demand stretch into the 3rd and 4th quarters than was the case with the 4s. It's pretty clear that a lot of folks skipped the 4s. Some of the more aggressive estimates for 4th and 1st quarter sales might be warranted.

I live 5 blocks from the Apple store on Chestnut street in SF (interestingly, I also live about five blocks from this now too www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/14/jony-ive-apple-lead-designer-san-francisco-mansion-photos_n_1884597.html) and just walked by. I had no expectations for the line but the line is probably 200 people long. It stretches around a corner almost out to Lombard street (roughly a line that is 1.5 blocks long). There is media interviewing some of the people at the front of the line. I also saw some sleeping bags at the front and I honestly laughed to myself that there were homeless people at the front of the line. Then I walked down the street and came back 15 minutes later and the "homeless people" were waking up to get ready to buy an iPhone. Joke is on me on that one. I didn't realize we had campers on Chestnut street for the iPhone.

Has anyone noticed that iFixit found the Qualcomm chip inside iPhone5 which supports TD-SCMA (China Mobile network) I noticed this several weeks ago when going over reports of components which had been leaked (stolen) from the supply chain. This is very good news, but in my opinion this is not yet tradable news. The deal is still being worked on with China Mobile. It is also uncertain (and in my opinion, unlikely) that wither of the two current models are yet compatible with China Mobile's network. To work on a particular carrier, it is not sufficient to have a compatible radio chip. You also have to have an antenna system tailored to the appropriate frequency bands. I am sure that have design ready to go into production but don't expect it this year. I think the optimum time for this roll out in that market is Chinese New Year, Feb 10, 2013. I would not expect any announcement before late January or early February.

From the iPhone tear down done in Australia: this iPhone may be the most repairable iPhone we've seen in a while. According to Chipworks, the B8164B3PM silkscreen label denotes 1GB Elpida LP DDR2 SDRAM. Contrarily, the infographic presented during Apple's Keynote clearly showed Samsung RAM (K3PE7E700F) in the A6. Not too long ago, Apple decided to reduce the number of RAM chip orders from Samsung. Time to invest in Elpida? Or is Samsung lurking in the next phone on the shelf? That's for you to decide. iPhone 5 Repairability: 7 out of 10 (10 is easiest to repair) www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iPhone-5-Teardown/10525/1I am amazed by the precision of all the tiny parts.

Here is the primary point of my investment thesis for Apple. Even with increased iPhone estimates, this guy is still calling for "only" 30% iPhone unit growth for CY13. This is where the opportunity lies. I have iPhone growing about double that which equals roughly 40MM "extra" iPhones sold next year. This equates to roughly an "extra" $8.00 in EPS for next year. Multiply that by 15 and the stock gets an "extra" $120 per share just based on me having a more realistic iPhone estimate (based on all historical data) than this guy. appleinsider.com/articles/12/09/21/blockbuster_iphone_5_launch_expected_to_push_apple_stock_to_850

He just raised his target this morning to 850. That is not really that bad. He will get the chance to reevaluate in a month. We have been seeing a lot of price target upgrades lately. The trend in these upgrades is up, that is all I really care about.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the info. I have to say, this disappointed me about Jason. On Wendesday I thought he put up a pretty good rationale for buying, specifically stating that he was buying Nov calls so that there were multiple catalysts between now and then, SHOULD ANYTHING HAPPEN. Then the next day, he sells almost as if in a panic ignoring what he said the day before. Did the climate really change that much in one day? I feel he's getting a little like me - buy hi, sell low due to emotions ;D

Phoebear, you have to give the people an idea of what it means when NYC breaks out the security. LOL They don't mess around. This pic was taken in Times square at 1:00 a.m. in the morning on a Wednesday night. I was shocked at the number of people. I was even more shocked to see that they have a grandstand to watch people.
