Good morning and thank goodness it’s Friday and the end of this month. Perhaps March will bring us a trend change. Pre-market is green at +$0.37 at this moment. No guarantees. Apple Launches Shops-in-shop at Select Target LocationsThe pre-market is now down -$0.48 and dropping. Oh well.

Crazy Dutch regulators... appleinsider.com/articles/21/02/26/dutch-regulators-near-antitrust-decision-in-apple-investigationI see, you open a store, and you get to choose as the storekeeper, what forms of payments you take, am i right? No shoes, no shirt, no service! Right Costco... I shop Costco frequently, 20 plus years, always had my Amex ready at checkout, then they flipped, seems all they take now is Visa! So i got a Visa card. How is this not uncompetitive to Amex, Mastercard, Diners Club, et al? Congress! Investigate right god damn now, the hell with the stimulus bill, get busy you partisan whores! Fire them all... Apple is a store, i hope they choose to only take Apple Pay, or Apple Card! And f&@k Epic!

I'm trying to figure something out. What are the exact differences between the MacBook Air M1 16GB/2TB and the MacBook Pro 13 16GB/2TB. The only differences I see right now are: * Bigger battery (2 hours of battery life) and bigger charger * Touch bar versus more function keys * 500 nits versus 400 nits brightness * Slight weight difference (about 100g)
That's really not much of a difference between a "pro" and an entry level model. I suspect the next generation Pro models will have more heft to them. But for now, why would anyone buy the pro over the air? Especially considering that many people dislike the touch bar and the battery life on both models is superb.
Actually looking at delivery date son the store, it's probably true that most people are opting for the air right now, last I checked, air has delivery in 2-3 weeks, pro has "today" at store, and "tomorrow" delivered (for a fee), or 4-7 days delivered (with no fee).

The Pro has a fan so that under heavy load, it will not throttle back performance as much. I also think it has one more processor core.

I feel like having a “get off my lawn moment” too. Apple had two successive years of 80% share appreciation. And now people are bitching about Cook. Boo-boo that we are having a few sub par weeks, after delivering what might be the most impressive financial performance in corporate history. EVER. In the middle of a pandemic.
People’s politics and social priorities fogs up their thinking. Or maybe they just like to bitch and moan.
I feel better now. Whining about whining does that.

My feelings about Tim Cook are formed over almost 10 years of him as CEO. I want a CEO running my company who focuses like a laser on making the company more profitable and competitive. But at least half the time, Cook is talking about his left wing politics instead of showing that laser focus. It does not inspire confidence. When did Steve ever ramble about this extraneous stuff? It's a distraction and off-putting for half the country that also buys iPhones. And while we're talking about supposed diversity and inclusion (instead of enriching shareholders), I asked a friend of mine who is a Christian if he thought he'd be welcome to work at Apple. He said "no" resoundingly. About 165 million Americans call themselves Christians. Diversity, LOL. Apple values are total BS. A bunch of executives who are contemptuous of stockholders, paying themselves a fortune. 14 years and counting since the next big thing.
Sorry to butthurt the fanboys, but wtf exactly has Apple done that is so innovative since 2007? Drop billions on a solar-powered spaceship?

JD, I always enjoy reading your comments as they are well thought out and interesting, even if i don't agree with your premise. I wonder who you think would have been or could be a better CEO for apple and aapl?
Seems to me that no matter what you think of TC's expression of values that you have to give him credit for navigating apple through both left and right admins and in working with china, etc.....seems he doesn't put his values ahead of apple work, but also isn't shy about expressing his values and acting on them.

Well if the innovation standard is going to be the iPhone, then you are bound to be disappointed. Nothing can compare to a device that ignited the mobile revolution that put a powerful computer in the pocket of the vast majority of the worlds population. Although it may not be seen as innovative, fending off Google giving away copycat software, and dozens of knock off artists, is a legit business accomplishment.
With that caveat, what about the following:
1. Built a $20B wearables business in 5 years. By building dominating products with the Watch and AirPods. Maybe you don’t think this is innovative. I do, and can you really argue with building a $20B biz in 5 years?
2. What about the M1? How is a processor that obliterates the incumbents not innovative?
I think your hatred of Cook is blinding your otherwise extremely insightful perspective on Apple.

You better buy a new one just in case. Maybe a few as backups. SomeJuan can give you a few tips on some extra maxed out portables and devices to buy at the same time, but maybe get a round of stock ones too for quickest delivery times. Go pro, for maximum greenness on the stock. Thanks

I don’t want to jinx it but I think this is the first day since earnings that AAPL has outperformed SPY. in the last few weeks AAPL has I performed SPY by 1-2% each day, but today SPY is flat and AAPL is up 1.75%. Let’s hope it’s more than a dead cat bounce

He said "no" resoundingly. About 165 million Americans call themselves Christians. Diversity, LOL. OK, then. There are surely thousands of Christians happily working at Apple worldwide, but we should all buy in on the opinion of one of your friends? SureApple values are total BS. A bunch of executives who are contemptuous of stockholders, paying themselves a fortune. 14 years and counting since the next big thing.
All of the Apple executives are “contemptuous of stockholders”? And we are expected to believe you about this because...? Sorry to butthurt the fanboys, but wtf exactly has Apple done that is so innovative since 2007? Drop billions on a solar-powered spaceship? Well not all of the services are “so innovative,” but they have transformed the business so that it is not wholly dependent on The Next Big Thing, which was always the caveat clung to by the Apple naysayers. I’d venture a guess that this is at least partly responsible for Wall Street’s obvious increased regard for Apple’s financial future. Oh, and the Watch may not be “the next iPhone,” but many, many businesses would kill for a product that successful.

I asked this same question a few weeks ago when you said this. Just so we can understand what exactly you mean by "innovative", can you list a few things that meet your definition since 2007? I can't think of anything offhand, except perhaps Tesla popularizing electric cars (but electric cars aren't all that popular yet, just beginning to get there).

Speaking of outperforming, why have the China stocks been bashed along with AAPL and American Tech? Anyone know? I think there is still some fear in the hedge funds as their long Amazon short "brick and mortar" is still ongoing. I guess its worked for years and it will take more than 1 GME to scare them off. Dillards is still about 13% short after great earnings and GME is a third short according to TD.

Well that close was a punch in the gut... Wow, I hadn't even bothered seeing the closing minutes. A 3.5 point fall in 12 minutes into the close is crazy for this day. I can make some wild-assed speculation on someone trying to get some huge gains on ATM puts, but in just checking 15 stocks across several industries, all fell in that time period, though to different degrees. Seems like someone very big decided to go risk-off over the weekend for the whole market. And then on individual stocks, their % response just depended on how well it took that. I was ready this morning to buy a larger chunk if the stock quickly dipped on open to 115-118. Looks like Monday will be the same thing, though that's often a long enough contemplation pause such that a further dip doesn't happen. Green is green. But more green would have been better.
