Was that comment really called for? Some things are more important to some people than your account which you did nothing to earn other than buy a few shares that the investor class wouldn’t miss if you never did. that was irony No it was aimed at more than one person. Sarcastic yes but misdirected. Great numbers today,

Anyone else think that maybe, just maybe that Tim won’t be fired after these results? He was likely worried after seeing posts here calling for his head. You young whippersnapper...just stop with your humorous comments!! This is a serious issue!! 😂

But after that reprieve, I will use my powers and unrelenting bad intentions to launch my Covid virus successor. Likely tomorrow. You guys haven’t seen anything yet.

Great results but so long since the last all time high is worrisome. If we end the year below $145 then a zero return year might put off new investors despite previous years' huge gains.

I have lives through lots of doldrums. Including an extended period where the PE was crazy low compared to peers. Assuming Apple actually has peers. At some point, enough people decide that the price is attractive enough to invest. Then a snowball effect happens. Often when you least expect it. Being “put off” always has a shelf life and expires.

I think these doldrums have been caused by a lack of institutional interest. Institutional ownership is at a low point since the news came out that Buffet started selling some of his shares. Other institutions have been reluctant to go big on AAPL.
Retail is still holding but the market cap is so big now it requires institutions to move it. And institutions generally want to believe Apple’s best days are behind it and every success is a temporary blip on the way to Apple’s obsolescence and ruin.

Stunning results. Enough said. A somewhat measly increase to the divvy, but that’s no surprise. I’ve been investing in Apple for 20 years, and I can say with some authority that those looking for instant gratification are probably going to be unhappy. It very rarely happens with AAPL, especially these days. Instead, better to play the long game and enjoy the rewards of patience.

Geez, go talk to a car dealer for a couple hours, and even with great earnings things fall in disarray here Nice AH move, though it would have been even better to start at 136 and climb all session, instead of peaking out early. Still, it's AH, the epitome of short term investing on small volume. FWIW, though while also admitting that this young dealer probably knew a lot less that me while was up for talking his book on why dealers were sticking with MSRP these days (though happy to give me $500 off just for saying a friend got a deal), in addition to saying they were having chip shortages, he also said they were having shortages with various plastics and such, which matched a recent article on new car supply issues that I read. Apple so far is doing a good job negotiating these potential pitfalls. But I also find it interesting that they use the likes of Costco both to sell current stuff at a discount, but also to sell older stuff at a small discount. It's an interesting arrangement that while Apple keeps to MSRP in most places, with Costco there is a little more flexibility. At the same time, they had 2 tables just for Apple stuff, plus a side area where a similar looking LG laptop was sitting right in line. Fun stuff. Thanks Apple, and AAPL!

Oh, by the way, in my opinion all those mentions of "cost savings" (in summary and as answers to questions) as the reason for the high margins is definitely partially from using their own chips. Intel's 50-60% gross margins come from somewhere* you know! I touched on this a few months ago when we discussed the M1 (and future M1X and M2 and M3, etc). The margin improvement will be significant and will last for quite a while. * yes, from their customers of course.

OFF TOPIC REPLY please forgive. Steph is injured and burned out. The Dallas win last night was the easiest bet in a long time. The MN bet coming up, the W's should lose to get a better pick, they will win but don't know the spread. I also can't believe they aren't bringing the Emperor Justinian from Britannia. All they need is shooters. That would take pressure of the D guys like Wiggins and KO.

Don't discount the selling due to massive losses in various hedge funds and banks. Lots of them had to cover Gamestock, and Hwang lost 20 billion in 2 days. The banks he uses also lost money. What is easier to sell than Apple?
