So, is 700 plus change bullish from an OpEx perspective? Or any perspective?
I'm leaning yes, as far as AAPL reclaiming the 700 plateau.
But, to break out the broken record yet again, next week is the real test. And since the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S and new iPad initial sales reports all got released on a Monday, we shouldn't be waiting too long to get our next short-term clues. Enjoy the weekend all.

Its going to be a great weekend for the patio. All major weeds have been pulled. Now I get to put the flagstone back in place more tightly.

Good read. Kontra (the blogger) has been around a while, but I think doesn't post often...which is why I rarely check his bookmarked site. I like his conclusion: "The longer Apple waits the harder it gets. From iPods to iTunes to iPhones to iOS, Appleโs modus operandi has been to introduce products and continuously improve them into widely attractive maturity..."

Hey, Red! Are you here? Thought of you today when I was assigned on the short legs of OCT'12 SPY spreads (in two accounts) since SPY went ex-div today. Annoying!
At OptionsXpress, I exercised my long legs...then opened another batch of spreads again.
TradeMonster automatically bought to cover the short shares, so I went in and sold the long calls. Then opened another batch of spreads.

Can I get a beer?
Anything on tap will do!
I don't know if anyone has said this, but, I want to thank you for opening up the basement for those political guys and the end of the world guys.
It takes all kinds to make a great bar!

"I was a stripper" - Jon Najarian. (yikes!) "They used to arrest you if you did what they do now." - Jon Najarian.

Anyone looking to buy an iPhone 5 from their local Apple Store could call in and check to see if there's still supply. I think we're looking at a 4S/new iPad-type stock situation here, and I'm lovin' that.

They still had them at the Portland, OR Pioneer Place store mid-afternoon and still had a smaller line. At 11:30 or so they still had 80 folks in line, mas o menos

Twitter reports indicate some Apple Stores still have supply.
Your observation backs my hunch up. One upside of the TC era.

Are you saying that demand is not as great as you thought or that TC is a master at having enough supply to meet the demand in order to get the sale made?

Suggestion: a thread for week one IPhone 5 numbers.
We should discuss and predict two numbers:
1. what number is the street looking for and what will happen it the number is high or low; and
2. What number will Apple announce for sales after this weekend.
I will weigh in with my thoughts with the caveat that I know jack about this sort to thing. Very interested in what the board thinks.
I'll be back later after I res each the bottom of my Friday happy hour beer stein. ;D

I think WS would be happy with any number above 8 million. Personally I think AAPL will announce 10+ million.

Just saw this tweet:
"Andy Zaky thinks the iP5 exceeds expectations in very significant ways. I would add that the map overreaction is just that. Patience!"

This from another board, at 8:22 EST
I am in Palo Alto Apple store at heart of Silicon Valley and believe it or not they still have phones available with only 20 or so people in line. A few minutes there only five people in line. Not sure how that compares to other recent launches. The phone is awesome and my 4s now seems a bit short and outdated.

I am hoping for a number that starts with 7
At least. I think that would satisfy most folks.
Low 6 millions might could be a problem

I'm not being cryptic in the least.
Tim is ensuring a good initial supply. I don't know how initial orders of 2M could ever be considered a bad sign as far as demand.
A 7+ million iPhone 5 3-day launch number would be just fine. Terrific, really, and supply-constrained most likely.

700.09 at the close ? Some options writers might be unhappy about that. Congrats to all longs. All-time intraday high was set this morning and we are still fairly close to all-time closing high. Bears suffering terrible this week Why would they be? Until today those contracts cost a lot more than 9ยข, which means that the Bears Sold those Calls for more than they had to buy them back. Even if the shares are Put to them, they paid less than $700, which means that selling those shares for ANYTHING above $700 means they profited.
