Dammit...
Well, 148/152/156 Apr 20 SPY butterfly. $.80 to try for up to $4. Wish me luck, if you like!
Side bet sized so it won't hurt me _too_ much if it backfires.

Yes, and note the dammit. Didn't hop on that train.
May try a follow-on trade depending on market open. We'll see.

SPY butterflies = meh. Probably running even right now.
Put a smallish bet on QQQ put spread, May expiry. 70/67 or something. Good thing I waited until end of day.
Still mostly cash. What little there is anyway.

Closed GS and GOOG shorts, as both likely getting an oversold bounce. Might reenter later. We shall see. Meanwhile, moving on to other helium: LNKD. AMZN bears (you know who you are!!), take "some" profits.

AMZN bears (you know who you are!!), take "some" profits. STC GOOG puts for 40% gain after one day, still got GOOG put spreads. Just a small sum to join the fun in shorting GOOG. Wasn't paying attention to 1-mon chart today, craps, a bullish divergence in 1-min chart.

I had a feeling GOOG might fail under 800.
Eh, I'm basically playing the indices for now.

I'm thinking just an oversold bounce (see 30 minute), maybe an attempt to retest daily SMA-50, then more down. There's a gap below the daily SMA-100. ;D

When these consumer packaged goods stocks are finished with their "parabolic" runs, we could see some excellent shorting opportunities there. Wait to see that choppy toppy stuff on their charts. Until then, not stepping in front of those trains, thank you. ;D

Mav, for me the indices here are too time-consuming to day trade, so I'd rather swing 'em for the bigger moves. I booked profits on SPY JUN'13 155/150 bear put spreads at the bottom of the last ugly drop, currently holding SPY JAN'14 155/150 bear put spreads. A little more wiggle room, so if my timing isn't precise, I won't stress.

You know me. Shorter-term swing trading in volatile markets. Doesn't mean I'm any good at it. Not day trading. Way too choppy for my limited skill level.

On my short list Short List:
GOOG -- after a bit of retrace up PCLN -- after lower trendline break LNKD -- as long as daily SMA-20 isn't breached
Both NFLX and AMZN likely have lower, but right here, both could retrace or chop around a while -- I'm not sure I want to watch as closely as might be required.

I'm still short AMZN with those May put spreads that are a little underwater. I feel pretty comfortable with them. Not looking for anything big, just my typical 30% gain.

Doc, AMZN's daily SMA-200 still looks like a target to me, but it's been choppy all the way down, so just be careful... Don't ride UP again...

GOOG technicals look nice and fugly. Watch upcoming oversold bounce for potential short entry.

Boring, sleepy trading day with a market rally the second half. Eh, whatever, still mostly on the sidelines.
Alcoa had a mixed bag report. We'll see how the market digests the beginning of earnings season.

Fitz on GOOG / AAPL parallelsEchoes my hypothesis. Have been watching the EW similarities with AAPL's 644-528-705 topping pattern. I'm scaling into GOOG JAN'14 700/650 bear put spreads for intermediate-term swing. If the fruit can drop almost 300, surely the googlies can drop a measly 200.

Didn't think of scaling, just have only 1 spread, Sep $700/$600, just for fun, should I go big?

Just consider a little bigger than small. E.g., scale in one at a time, at key resistance levels. Then, scale out one at a time at key support levels.

I figured. Well, now I don't feel _quite_ so bad. This feels choppier than Gordon Ramsay shredding onions in anger.

Is it just me or is this market kinda tough to figure out? Wave 4 = chopfest Agree. Wave four is near impossible to figure out . Thanks for confirming is wave four. Edit: Always guessing the bottom is typical of wave Y of a wave four. Be glad that this is a Primary degree and not Cycle degree. If it is Cycle degree, you won't be laughing, neither would I. Hopefully, with this experience, we won't get caught in Cycle degree wave four like those experienced by INTC investors, still waiting for a new blockbuster product category after 13 years.

NFLX was _weak_ today. But I still can't bring myself to get anywhere near a NFLX trade. Yet, anyway.

Is the SPY slowly getting rising wedge-ish?
In the meantime trying to stay relatively careful as least as far as not committing too much cash to downside bets. Uptrend still there.
