S&P has been on fire. Up 30% in the last year, compared to 18% for AAPL. If AAPL had matched the S&P's performance over the last year, it would be at 163 right now.

A smart watch could save your life. How about your dog? A device like this for dogs would be a huge seller.

But six months ago, I was complaining about the six months underperformance and someone said “what about in the last year”? It’s doing well on longer timeframes until it isn’t. What if I come back here a year from now and say “it’s underperformed the S&P over the last 2 years” and someone else says “yeah but what about 5 years.” Past performance is no guarantee of future success. The trick is to figure out if this recent underperformance will continue into the future, or not.

As someone once said.

Didn't we hear that a prince bought 4 edition models for his dog, back shortly after they were released? I think there's room for a tile/tag dog tracker. But I think Apple will leave that for the competition to compete over. Was it Steve or Tim that said the biggest challenge at Apple was saying No to things. That seems applicable, just as Steve said No to the briefcase Mac that a guy at my first AAPL shareholder meeting in 1998 proposed.
