Can’t keep a good dog down…. Back to $150 in the premarket. AAPL closed at $148.89 on August 12, so IMHO it’s been “down” for a month, after a string of excellent earnings reports. Let’s see what the new product announcements can do.

Just think if you had rotated into GameStop a year ago…

If kids have enough to make Fortnight a billion dollar company...taxes are too low. If you read the arguments in the court papers or on their website it is really hard to make sense out of any of it. How can you say Apple is a monopoly when you have the game on many platforms? So Apple does not allow X-Box on its platform? My view this judge is carving out a promotion. Both female and Hispanic? How can she be stopped? Supremes here we come. You can hurry love.

The price actually went up the day after the iPhone event. 10/13/2020 - $121.10 10/14/2020 - $121.19 09/10/2019 - $54.17 09/11/2019 - $55.90 09/12/2018 - $55.27 09/12/2018 - $56.60

And it also was a short-term top, the event started a drop in the stock for almost a month straight afterward, and it took 2 months to get back above 125.

Adding three images here, showing the charts from 2020, 2019, and 2018. 2019 was definitely the best iPhone event of the three, leading to a slight uptick that held flat over the following month. In 2020 and 2018, the iPhone event was a better selling opportunity than a buying opportunity. Hopefully the preemptive selling we got on Friday will make 2021's event better for the stock.

Just out of curiosity, I compared long-term investing in AAPL with long-term investing in AMZN and NFLX. According to my calculations(and absent errors):
NFLX is up 74,494% since 2002 AAPL is up 56,334% since 2001 AMZN is up 24,808% since 2001 ========== Year to date: * NFLX is up 15.5% * AAPL is up 15.6 * AMZN is up 8.5% ========== In previous years, AAPL was: * Down -8% for 2018 * Up only 10% for 2016 * Down -4% for 2015 * Up only 2% for 2013
All things considered, even though AAPL was not rewarded for it's extraordinary earnings in past quarters, and all the AAPL Bears are beating the drums to sell because of the recent ruling, I'm not unhappy with AAPL being up 15.5% for the year at this point. 😎

CNN says that Apple has released an iPhone update due to a security issue. www.cnn.com/2021/09/13/tech/apple-iphone-spyware-vulnerability-fix/index.htmlIt says the vulnerability allowed a targeted malware piece to install or run after a iMessage, without the end user having to click on a link. Fun stuff. Sounds like it was very targeted, but still good to run an update. Now that it's known about, who knows how soon others will try to use that vulnerability.
