AAPL Maximun-Pain$146.00. Let’s see how this plays out today. The overall market is red this morning with the news from China, so this may provide the necessary backdrop needed.

A new price upgrade, to a street high of $198 finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-stock-gets-street-high-205924213.html35% in the coming year would be nice, though I'd feel greedy to expect it. 15% seems more feasible, with 20% on the upside. But if Apple gets people overly excited about something, or we see that P/E of 40 again, things could really fly. (EDIT: Fun to look around sometimes. Costco and Walmart currently have P/E's of 40, whereas Target is around 20. Apple is at 28.5. I like Costco, and sometimes think about their slow migration over the past few decades, with some higher end products but also moving some things to organic, while being very store specific. The 2 stores we visit, of only 3 in the region, can vary with the specific items they have. For instance, one had an organic Pepper Jack vs the other had a traditional one (which we liked better), and they had different brands of yogurt. And the price differences on certain items, mainly avocados, is so stark that it actually makes me chuckle when I see it ($4 vs $7). I feel Costco does a really good job at most things. But a P/E of 40 for a mainly brick and mortar store, while Apple is sub-30. It's a whole different industry, but that doesn't seem correct. I'd wagger....and I guess I have....that Apple's following is just as strong as Costco's, while it's customer price sensitivity is even less. There could be some additional risk due to regulators and chip shortages, but Costco isn't free and clear of risk either, having to charter ships due to shipping challenges, and seeing rising prices across many item types. Ah well, we'll likely never see the P/E's of 60 from decades ago, and sometimes you just have to focus on your own game)

I didn’t place a preorder. Just went onto the Apple mobile app (7:55am local time) and found plenty of availability for in-store pickup. Hopefully it’s high supply not low demand. Either way I’m excited for more battery life.

I agree on the price target viability -but the way we get to $170-175. is a street high of $200
I think that is doable in the next 12 months.

Interesting numbers from a post earlier this week by Horace Dediu on asymco.com:
Just recently, the 2 billionth iPhone was sold. Unlike the 1 billionth, there was no announcement, no celebration. Partly this is because Apple stopped reporting unit shipments, but partly it’s because it’s not as interesting to talk about 2 billion as it is about 1 billion. There is a desensitizing when numbers get that big. What happens after you achieve the status of the most popular and valuable product of all time? How much more better can the world absorb?
Before we answer, let’s reflect on how it’s going. The iPhone is doing better than ever.
There are more than 1 billion iPhone users. The total number of users has been rising steadily. iPhone users make up about 26% of all smartphone users (3.8 billion is the current estimate). The share of users in the US is about 60% (or soon will be.) The share in UK is close to 50%. All these share numbers are higher than ever. Over 14% of US and 10% of UK survey respondents have switched to an iPhone in the past two years.

Who has been watching Foundation? Ratings say it’s great. There are so many great series to watch I’m afraid of spending too much time on the tube catching up on every episode. For instance Paramount’s Yellowstone, Picard and StarTrek Discovery when the new seasons begin. HBO has a bunch. I do have Music and since I love science fiction I’m contemplating tv + with all its content catching up to do. Why read books, my iBook reading will suffer too.

UPS just dropped mine off...
FYI I'd recommend device-to-device transfer for setting up a new iPhone. It transfers all your saved app passwords and 2FA tokens etc, making the setup less painful.

Started watching it last night but my wife made us turn over to Ted Lasso. Not a bad outcome- Something to watch tonight

I placed my order last Thursday. I chose the iPhone Pro Max, graphite and 1TB of memory and a clear cover. The plan is to not use it as a phone (no carrier) but to only use it as a camera/video. I was blown away by the demo of the camera at the event. After comparing prices with standalone cameras I thought the iPhone was a good choice. I’m not a fan of large phones, as I like to carry mine in my back pocket, but my wife is so I can always give it to her if I’m disappointed with it, but I really doubt that I will be. Now I have to learn some new tricks. Ya know what they say about old dogs and new tricks. It’s scheduled to arrive the last week in October.
