Wow the M1 pro max is insane - intel and amd collectively shaking their boots. Mic drop moment IMO - this is only the first pro M1 chips and they completely knocked it out of the park!

The technology advancements they presented today at this Mac Pro rollout stuns me more than almost any previous presentation I’ve seen. The M1 pro and the M1 pro max chips are like nothing I’ve ever seen come out of a chip company. I think Apple may now be two years possibly 2 1/2 years ahead technologically and there will probably be no arts and engineering developers that will use anything other than Apple technology. What they’re doing at Apple just makes my jaw drop.
I’m getting close to retirement and have been thinking very closely about whether I should stay this invested in one stock and I have to say these kind of advancements make me think there’s not another company I will trust with my money with like I do Apple. I may have to add to my position.

But when asked for *any* examples of what they consider to be "innovation" over the last 10 years ... no response.

It's like they're playing a completely different game - which of course is very Apple. I know it's a much smaller market, but winning hearts & minds of developers and content producers has a huge knock-on effect. Love this company.

Anybody clue me in to why the 5 dollar a month siri music talk thing was added? I'm assuming for the people who want to buy the "cheap" HomePod Mini but don't want to pay $15 a month for music. For $5 a month an individual can ask for any song, undercutting themselves and Spotify

Anybody clue me in to why the 5 dollar a month siri music talk thing was added? Trying to get their Services hooks into price sensitive users. Get them into the Apple services ecosystem. First time in a while that there’s been a bump after an Apple event. Good stuff!

And yet ... there will still be some folks that say they don't see any innovation out of Apple since the iPhone. But when asked for *any* examples of what they consider to be "innovation" over the last 10 years ... no response. But but but GM said they were innovative when they added a wifi hotspot to their cars It's tough to differentiate what is improved vs natural progression vs innovation. I think the problem is that it is too easy to latch onto the "new product category" as innovation, which really doesn't happen too often. There was a somewhat interesting Disney Fanboi piece on SFGate that I was trying to skim through while watching the keynote, and unfortunately not paying enough attention to either. But it was dealing with a discussion board, and the variety of opinions of the fanboi group as far as progress forward. In a way it's what we see with Apple fans, here and elsewhere, with some just wanting it the way things have been (many topics here, but the easy ones for today are rectangular screen vs notch, and set function keys vs dynamic, but I remember some of the discussion we had on an internal board at Apple when the middle button on the iPod changed functions for photos, and the firewire port switching to a dock connector), vs others looking for a good happy medium between recognizing the past and it's nostalgia, while also moving forward. Innovation isn't always a whole new thing, and Apple has shown it often isn't a completely new invention but rather the bringing together of things to make a easy to use product. Maybe it's "one more thing" shoved into the Apple Watch, or maybe it's a nice jump up in the processor and GPU power in the latest chips. The chips sounded impressive. I was starting the glaze over at some of the specs thrown about (did she say 4x4 architecture???), and preferred some of the easy speed tests that SJ used to run during keynotes. But this was a much more technical keynote the likes that one might expect at WWDC, and I have to admit that not only am I not really the target audience anymore, but most of my processing power needs can be fulfilled by an old iPad rendering up a web page. That said, they look great, and I'm glad they excite those that can utilize their processing power.

I completely don’t need it, but am signing up for the new 14” MacBook Pro. I am in the camp as others are here on Apple Silicon being legit innovation.

Anybody clue me in to why the 5 dollar a month siri music talk thing was added? I think it's a fairly brilliant way to capture a lot of the younger and more casual Apple product users. Especially those who'll be receiving a HomePod mini in their stockings this Xmas. It also has the side benefit of driving more Siri familiarity and the gateway to the Apple ecosystem.

Still don't get the Siri music idea. However, one thing. I, as perhaps most of you, just use voice input instead of all the typing. Perhaps speaking to the computer is the big thing evolving all around us all.
I am just amazed at how incredibly far voice input has become, on Google especially.
PS What ever happened to Tim's enamorment with VR?
PPS The event today was a bit drawn out. Perhaps overdone, although the power of M1 was important.

I saw others saying it was "too short" at only 50 minutes.
