I am here at the Apple Store in Rancho. The store is packed and this is a bigger store.
Returned a radar detector I was not impressed with. The rep confirmed what the last rep said about a week ago. iPhones continue to sell very well. in fact he went further and said that they continue to sell all models.
He did not notice a big slow down in iPhone 5 sales compared to Christmas.

Lucy, I like their idea of terrestrial search on the wrist. Go into a Walmart and tell Siri "point me to the rechargeable AA batteries". Your little wrist-bound arrow spins and points you there. Show up at the zoo and say "where's the monkey house?" and off you go. Or "find me the nearest restroom" while dealing with a cranky baby at Disneyland. Simple. Easy. Apple.

Visited my Apple store with inconclusive results. The main takeaway is that although this is a slow quarter (and noticed by Apple staff), they are still selling LOTS of iPhones. Will return this weekend to get an idea on iPads. Good activity in the store, with probably more staff on hand than needed for the # of customers.

So there are times when it appears that things are slow and there are more employees free then normal. Also many people appreciate a free employee to ask a question to.

Y'know, when there's "nothing new" on Apple shelves for an entire fiscal quarter (though iPad mini and iMac should've definitely helped), some feeling of "slowness" would be perfectly normal. It'll be interesting to see Apple's retail results.

I made a trip to my Apple store today to see what they could do about my mom's unresponsive ipad3. They couldn't get it to come to life so offered a new replacement for $99. This seemed fair as the warranty ran out last April. I also showed them my iPhone 5 which had a balky power button ( upper right corner). The genius gave me a new unit, free of charge (after remarking that she had never seen a more scuffed up iphone5). All in all I'm very pleased with the service. I had an appointment. The store was packed. They got me out of there very efficiently. iCloud reinstall of all my crap began in store and finished during drive home, with a bit of wifi at home. No need to connect to iTunes.

Also, for the record, between the 3 iPhone models I've owned (Original, iPhone4, and iPhone5), I've been handed a total of 5 replacements, at no charge, 3 in warranty, and two out of warranty, for various issues (screen abnormalities, mostly). For this reason alone, I would never consider changing to a different brand. The ease of restoring to a fresh handset seals the deal.

I went into my local Verizon store today and asked them if they were taking pre-orders for the 5S. They promptly told me "No", then proceeded to take my pre-order.
I will know Friday if they keep their commitment.

At the Apple Store yesterday to pick up new iPad Pro for Mrs. Rez. Loud music with impossible to understand lyrics made checking out kinda difficult. They need stuff that's upbeat without words. That's the neuroscientist speaking. Apple reps all in green t-shirts, probably supporting BRexit with an homage to the Queen's birthday attire. Lively but not packed at 3pm on a Monday in the summertime. Most customer interest was around the laptop area. Poor sad selection of iPods in the very back of the store. What is next for them? Good selection of accessories. Checkout very smooth with the little handheld POS, used Apple Pay from the watch. Our Apple associate had to call into the back for a bag - nice paper sack with ribbon handles. Apple Pencils on display were all dead. They need to charge them once in a while. Seems like the store manager needs to force a post-weekend reset of supplies and peripheral charging every Monday morning, as yesterday it didn't get done.
