Good morning, and welcome to the day that Apple reports it’s quarterly earnings. Will they provide guidance? How will Mr. Market respond to the numbers? Place your bets ladies and gentlemen, place your bets. This morning’s pre-market is red at -0.55% at this moment. Will iPhone Revenue Boost Apple (AAPL) Stock?

FB - finding out that given a choice people don't like being spied on- Not so much... Surprise Surprise.... A lot of it is just how it is framed. How many people use gmail? Myself included. At first it's a "what does it matter", but if you have any inkling of conspiracy theories, this can be far worse than anything a government can pull off. So what makes a person be willing to give up extra info to have targeted ads. I'd rather have somewhat targeted ads, than be blasted with medical ads that luckily don't apply to me or my loved ones. Would a general "splitting people up into 10 groups", or something like that, give slightly targeted ads without a light you searched at HD following you around across different websites? But maybe it would put you into the "doing some home improvements" category, and give you some related ads. Just as a slight but not exact geolocation could give you ads for restaurants within 50 miles, instead of ones in Florida. I think if framed right, people would gladly take "somewhat targeted ads", and I think a lot of people would take "targeted ads" if given just a tiny incentive. A small "supporter" icon or a special game skin would likely be plenty. Heck, in college people signed up for a credit card to get a candy bar or a t-shirt. If there is such a profit difference between different targeting levels of ads, I just am pretty disappointed that no one has attempted to find a way to sway people, legitimately. And that's part of the problem here. In the past, a lot of this tracking was done behind people's backs. But the whole other problem is if companies are paying less or paying for fewer ads, due to a variety of things including the economy and inflation. If you sell all that you make, at full price, do you need ads for it?

I'm hoping to get at least a few more votes in our iPhone durability poll, at aaplfinance.proboards.com/thread/3583/iphone-durability-pollIn the last 24 hours, we've had about 30 users check the site, and 225 guests. You have to log in to vote in a poll. If you have an account, please log in and vote. If you don't yet have an account, go ahead and create one. Thanks

Even with a beat, I don't think the stock will pop 5% back to where it was 2 days ago. Frustrating.

Here's hoping we hit that $1 billion-a-day mark. 2nd that emotion. FB I can't figure out. I like connecting to kids from my HS that I haven't seen in a generation. But they want to be the Apple or MSFT of social media. Kids are fickle and now the clock is tik toking away. Keeping to their place of communication with old friends, groups of like minded and interests they have something solid. But there is no Steve there who knows want kids want before they want it. Tik Tok that is the sound of your life tikking away. Heard that somewhere.

AMZN now getting shellacked after hours. Hang onto your butts. I just took a look at their 8K and I'm shocked that they haven't officially changed their company name from "Amazon.com" to "Amazon" yet!!!

20% or $2B over the pro estimates for Macs, that's insane!

As CNBC tech nerd Steve Kovach mentioned, last Q only included 8 days of iPhone 14 sales, but "OMG Apple missed iPhone estimates by a percent" in the middle of a recession despite top and bottom line beats.

Very wild swings in the after hour actions. I cannot remember such big swings during the last earnings?

How about Bloomberg’s headline “ Apple Slips After iPhone and Services Revenue Comes in Light”
This wasn’t a beat or a miss - very much in line. Slightly higher than expectations but below the “whisper number” of 1.31.
It’s gonna take more than that to get AAPL out of the doldrums, especially given the anchor that is the rest of big tech.

AMZN now getting shellacked after hours. Hang onto your butts. I just took a look at their 8K and I'm shocked that they haven't officially changed their company name from "Amazon.com" to "Amazon" yet!!! Fourth Quarter 2022 Guidance • Net sales are expected to be between $140.0 billion and $148.0 billion, or to grow between 2% and 8% compared with fourth quarter 2021. This guidance anticipates an unfavorable impact of approximately 460 basis points from foreign exchange rates. • Operating income is expected to be between $0 and $4.0 billion, compared with $3.5 billion in fourth quarter 2021. • This guidance assumes, among other things, that no additional business acquisitions, restructurings, or legal settlements are concluded. s2.q4cdn.com/299287126/files/doc_financials/2022/q3/Q3-2022-Amazon-Earnings-Release.pdf

AAPL executing well, no surprises to the upside or downside.
AAPL stock performance will continue to be tied to overall market performance and fears about economy, especially connected to hints about Fed actions.

Very interesting after hours action. I guess many guys (or computers?) have made or lost a lot of money during after hours trading.

We've seen this before. Apple reports numbers that just about every other company would be thrilled with, but "experts" attempt to prove how smart they are by focusing on whatever "disappointments" they can find. Smart investors take advantage of the opportunity to cash in on a good thing, and the after hours numbers are green. Unless the larger economy takes a major hit, there will be plenty of Apple products under the Christmas trees across the nation. What are investors going to do, move their money into Meta?
