Here are the early results for re-election of Ron Johnson: In other news, I moved some fresh money into my brokerage account today. To hell with moving day averages...

Too bad there is not a "HELL NO" option. Why not? Tim Cook is already stretched too thin and they've been unsuccessful replacing Browett. I really don't think people are giving Ron Johnson his due and what he accomplished at Apple retail. He should be judged by his performance at Apple, not by his record of attempting to refloat the Titanic (aka J.C. Penney).

Yeah, you know, 20, 50 100, 200. Hell, let's invent a 400? By the time Apple retakes the 200 day moving average I'll have made enough to buy Cuba, which will be a signal for some to get in line to order a Mai Tai at my bar. ;D

I say we get him back. Like I said on 2.0. We have 500 more stores to build. He can finish the job.

Actually they used him, because I think he started something there that will reap rewards in a few more quarters.

Apple at the least needs someone with China Retail rollout experience near the top in Retail. Does anyone know if Apple as a head guru for China?

(It's DMA or SMA tho - I prefer the simple moving average/SMA term myself) I'll be momo-ing it up by 460 if signs are right...

I'm with gtrplyr ...Hell No on Johnson. He had a shot...seriously...is he the only retail person on the planet that AAPL can hire? That's hard to believe. All I can imagine is Johnson also saying, "Hey don't bet against us" in that soft spoken voice....and I CRINGE. All this being said, nothing will surprise me - but it will be disappointing.

Nice! (It's DMA or SMA tho - I prefer the simple moving average/SMA term myself) You're getting too fancy, Mav. And now, from the most AUTHORITATIVE source, I bring you CNBC to explain "Moving Day Average:" www.cnbc.com/id/100405556

I will concede that for every 100 articles about Apple, published on Seeking Alpha, there are one, maybe two, that contain actual analysis (vs uninformed conjecture). The referenced article above would certainly qualify as one of the very few worthy reads.

So you would deny your firm the best candidate because he had a shot to be more elsewhere, and took it? If no other, better suited for the position, materializes I say you do whats best for the Company, and shrug off the "he left us" animus. I had a ploicy at my firm wherein I encouraged employees to better themselves, even if that meant they might go elsewhere. Some did, and of those 2 re-applied after absences of about a year and a half. I took them back for two reasons. They were good employees, and their stint on their own gave them a much better understanding of business decision making. Ron Johnson is no different. He was the best candidate to run Apple retail when he accepted JC Penney's offer. That has not changed, he remains the best candidate. I would not fill that position with a lessor candidate over something as silly as Johnson tried to spread his wings. I wish I could remember the name of the firm (very successful) that has an interesting way of handling promotions that don't work out. The employee was obviously very good at the previous position. So management accepts blame for the employee's failure and offers the employee a position similar to what he/she HAD held, without taking a pay cut. That kind of employment security has resulted in employees taking more personal risk, to the benefit of the Company.

So management accepts blame for the employee's failure and offers the employee a position similar to what he/she HAD held, without taking a pay cut. That kind of employment security has resulted in employees taking more personal risk, to the benefit of the Company. John Gruber on a recent podcast actually revealed that Apple has an internal practice of letting former employees return up to 2 years after they left, and retain the same position/rank within the company as when they left Apple. I'm not sure how that applies to VP positions, but apparently Apple has a culture of welcoming back former employees with open arms - so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Ron Johnson back at Apple. Who knows, maybe Ron & TC are in regular contact, and TC might have left the retail chief position unfilled due to hints by Ron that he may need a job soon.
