Competitive landscape Q:
Tim - We feel we have the best products by far, continuing to invest in innovation, feel confident about product pipeline.
(Me - Greater China will tell the story in smartphones. That game has yet to really play out.)

Analyst trying to get Tim to say "don't expect anything until the Fall".
Tim - doesn't _really_ deny it.
Supply chain confidence? Tim - "incredible confidence"

I think he also said new product categoriesDid he really??!!!! I must have missed that. This may be the best news of all. "This may be the best news of all" I disagree. I think AAPL may decline until SEPTEMBER.

Gimme a break. The market is forward-looking. You may have a point if you see AAPL -2% or more by the end of AH.

With the company committed to buying in the market, there is a price floor that will build....shorting becomes more difficult...depends on how Oppy chooses to play the game with his new capital toybox..

My WAG: AAPL flat at the end of AH. Call it 405 or so.

My WAG: AAPL flat at the end of AH. Call it 405 or so. Perhaps. All the spreadsheets get updated tonight....and the value investors will look at the buyback and divvy increase....and the growth investors look at 2nd half promise...analysts will weigh in for the Street. Tim sounds better for sure...Oppy...well, he is Oppy

Toni: Why does Apple's performance suck? (Wait, it does?)
Tim: -30% sequential decline in tablets (vs. -15% for iPad) Smartphones - sell-in comparisons - must convert to sellthrough (which is WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG - thanks for finally starting to get it). iPhone tap-dancing. "Don't view it as the only measure of our health." <<Translation: You bet Apple is looking into this.

Some people here would be pleased to know that iPhone 4 is in supply/demand balance. iPhone 4S will be a more compelling product of course as of iPhone 6, which helps. Tim's weakest discussion - iPhone.

"Trade short term profits for long term potential"
Read: get people into the ecosystem because it is valuable longterm.

Q about "margin philosophy".
Oppy - we manage the business for the long term (nothing new), will sacrifice short-term margins for long-term future. As I thought, Apple is being more aggressive with margins. Great products, not cheap ones (of course, it doesn't count out lower-priced stuff like iPad mini, Mac mini, iPod shuffle).
More than $4B in service revenue for the first time. Watch that space!

Where is DEAGOL when I need him. I liked it better when he corrected me. Common stock, no par value; 1,800,000 shares authorized; 940,094 and 939,208 shares issued and outstanding, respectivelythe 940 and 939 are referring to TODAY'S SEC filing, referring to March 30, 2013 And September 29, 2012

They seem to be chatting up services. They seem to indicate no new hardware until the fall, but that doesn't necessarily mean no new services until then...
