I looked up the specs, and I'm not that impressed. A lot of differentiation in this product, but still, its running Win 8, so if it proves popular there will be copies.
Price at launch $1399
For that you get:
Physical: 12.73 X 8.79 X .47 Weight: 2.86 lbs 13.3" LCD Display (1920 X 1080)
Processor: Intel i5 1.7 Ghz GPU is integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000
Memory: Base RAM 4 GB DDR3 Base Drive: 128 GB Flash expandable to 256 GB
Battery: 4680 mAh Lithium Polymer Quoted battery time 6 hr
All the usual port/connectivity suspects
I'm not a Windows spec expert. Anybody care to rate this in comparison to the MacBook Air and competing ultrabooks which is what its billed as).

Just used Passbook and Fandango to pay and enter to see Iron Man 3D with the whole family.
Very nice and smooth transaction.

Passbook still has a long way to go. Of course it IS very early days. Don't disappoint, iOS 7.

Wait, what laptop brand are we talking here? Sorry, not in the mood to watch competitors' ads, that's not really where the game is won or lost, particularly if we're talking trucks.
Though I AM a pseudo tech snob, so I can run a quick "competitive analysis" against the Air once I get a little more info.

Though I AM a pseudo tech snob, so I can run a quick "competitive analysis" against the Air once I get a little more info. It's the Acer Aspire R7 The ad is pretty good at presenting the product. Its consistent with the MS approach of combining their touch based OS with the mouse/touchpad. The main contrast between this and Apple's offerings is the toaster/refrigerator analogy. They are offering one product that does everything. One thing to consider is that you can get an iPad and buy a keyboard case for much less than this. Would you pay almost twice as much for a refrigerator with a built in toaster as you would for the same refrigerator with a separate toaster?

The touchpad is IN FRONT of the keyboard.
What.

I've always been a fan of the refrigerator with built in toaster concept, regardless of price *if it's the right tool for the job*. If indeed they talked to people in the field and filled a real world problem it'll do well, perhaps as a hackintosh. Specs look like a low-end MBA from late 2011.

Does anybody understand interface, beyond Apple? Gets me all tingling inside thinking about what Jony and the boys have up their collective sleeves.

Ugly, ugly, UGLY futures. S&P is only down 6 handles. Positive sentiment outweighing negative news/rumor = bull market continues

Ugly, ugly, UGLY futures. S&P is only down 6 handles. Positive sentiment outweighing negative news/rumor = bull market continues I remember way back when, Mercel would say "wake me up when the Dow futures are down 100." ;D Me, I'm thinking: wake me up when SPX futures are under 1600.
