The auction for a coffee meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook has ended. The winning bid? $610,000 What kind of coffee do you think will be served? I hope TC is a French Press guy.

It'd be very simple to have a "classic iOS" option like Microsoft does with Windows 7 and Classic XP Mode for the Start Menu. MSFT has "classic" modes because the upgrades sucked. And it is anything but "simple". So now developers need to deal with two modes? Plus memory and other scarce resources are consumed for this idea. Microsoft is hardly the model to be envied here. They have suffered immeasurably by complicated designs that continually have one foot in the past and one in the future. The last thing we need is Apple trying to be like Microsoft.

Anyone have a solid reason whle all of a sudden Apple is dropping? Stops at 450.48. Seriously. God I hate Stops. The ONLY people they benefit are brokers

Stops at 450.48. Seriously. God I hate Stops. The ONLY people the benefit are brokers If you're a trader and that was your stop, you missed 8 points on the downside. Maybe you're waiting to re-enter. Maybe you re-entered at the close. Whatever you did, you probably saved yourself some money. Stops are the best trading tool there is. Because most of the time, choosing an entry is the easy part. Choosing an exit is where it gets tricky (often because people just ignore this half).

Incorrect...Windows 7 is much better than Windows XP or Windows NT or Windows ME. Microsoft offered the "classic mode" because people are resistant to change, it doesn't matter if it's quicker or easier...people are lazy and don't want to learn. Windows 8 is a disaster though, we'll agree there

Note we are in the "strong, healthy retrace" box. And note this retrace was expected. Technicals for Non-Technicals Chart:

They have suffered immeasurably by complicated designs that continually have one foot in the past and one in the future. The last thing we need is Apple trying to be like Microsoft. Developers dont have access to the core OS...they only care about developing their app. It's a theme, which is extremely simple to do. I'm not sure where you see the difficult part comes in? While Microsoft screws up often, they're a highly successful multi billion dollar company...if you think they screw up everything, you're crazy. To not take what competitors do better and apply it to Apple is either stupid or arrogant. To think everything Apple does is the best, is ridiculous...they're a great company, but not everything about them is perfect.

Note we are in the "strong, healthy retrace" box. And note this retrace was expected. Technicals for Non-Technicals Chart: In addition, we could be forming the right shoulder of an inverse H&S pattern on the daily chart, which would provide a degree of assuredness that we're headed north. This would be an extremely appropriate indicator, since it was a right-side-up H&S which started this mess in September.

I wasn't trying to be insulting...I was merely saying you don't become a company worth 280 Billion if you screw everything up. Do you honestly think Microsoft does everything wrong? If you do, then I guess we really have nothing to debate about.

While Microsoft screws up often, they're a highly successful multi billion dollar company...if you think they screw up everything, you're crazy. On technology they copied, bought or stole, MSFT owned the world in 2000. Since then, after a second anti-trust conviction, MSFT has done nothing, and today struggles to remain relevant. MSFT's biggest problem is that everything it does has a direct lineage back to DOS, and an enterprise/truck mentality. MSFT is traveling the same road that wrecked RIMM, NOKIA, DELL and MOTOROLA. Its just going to take a little longer for it to fail.

Its just going to take a little longer for it to fail. As Steve Jobs himself said, Good Artists Copy, Great Artists Steal...it's not like Apple hasn't copied or stolen anything from other companies. Steve Jobs even admitted it himself. I'm not saying Microsoft is a better company than Apple, all I'm saying is Microsoft does some things well, and Apple should implement it. If Apple changes iOS to make it better, some people will hate it no matter how great it is because they are resistant to change. But if Apple runs out iOS as is for another 5 or 10 years, it will quickly get lapped. This is not something far out...if software isn't updated, it will get replaced.

I was "hoping" for a 450 pin, but we'll see. 440-450 range instead?

I should have today's selloff coming. By 2:00PM EST AAPL's intraday high seemed well established. At that point I should have done, as I've done before, and deducted the 5 DMA trading range (about $10.00) from the intraday high. That would have given me a projected low for the day of $445.xx.
THAT is what I should have based my re-entry on. Alas, I didn't.
Anyways, I think this selloff is as AppleDoc has stated: a Stop Loss event. That would mean a recovery of some sort tomorrow. With time decay I may be able to recapture my break even point. Least ways that's the theory.

AAPL is going to be a very easy trade sometime soon. There's a confluenza of important targets all within 30 points or so of each other. Confluenza = bonanza of confluences ? Love it! That deserves a Mav-style TM Indeed, it WAS Mav who originated "confluenza." ;D

On this _board_, maybe. But it's hardly an original thought. It's just fun to say.

I was "hoping" for a 450 pin, but we'll see. 440-450 range instead? More concerned where AAPL won't close. Then I sell calls $5 above that. Unfortunately, the tanking started earlier this week, so I missed the boat (submarine?). It seems the tank starts right off on OpEx weeks, whereas on weekly expiries, one can wait for a Tues or even Wed pop to sell... Hope we get a pop tomorrow, because I left a lot of lemming money* on the table, and I was really looking forward to spending it. Alas, the 450's have been run up to 20K, so it isn't looking good for those 460's that were like $8 on Fri. Oh well, at least I have the Mecum Indy car auction starting tomorrow. 32 hours of DVR'd car pr0n. Good to see you all - even Sponge, fresh from exile. *Amazon coins not accepted
