Don't we have numerous people in the House who simply "forgot" to pay their taxes? Oh yeah and how about Geitner...he had his tax issues as well. Oh and I'm guessing the McCains or the Levins don't have any trusts or structures set up within their families to "stay within the legal rules but mitigate taxes" For crying out loud - who wants to play pot and who wants to be the kettle tomorrow!? What a frigging waste of taxpayer money to watch this crap. The IRS is only a tool that politicians use to bribe and intimidate citizens and corporations. Apple and TC are out of their league and are just another diversion from the current scandals that need to be swept away. There are tax reforms out there but they would require the government to relinquish the power they have by weakening the most powerful and corrupt government agency ever created. This will never happen because a large and growing portion of the population will continue to vote to punish those who do and reward those who don't. If only the partisans were sincere when they penned this: Read more: www.politico.com/story/2013/05/apple-tax-reform-91620_Page2.html#ixzz2TtkdXkNq“People from across the spectrum are trying to turn tax reform into a political weapon, which could end up killing any chance at success. We can’t let that happen. Tax reform can’t be about politics.” "They’re right. Tax reform must be about job creation, not hearing showmanship. We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape a modernized tax structure to generate new investments and jobs here at home. The best solution is a competitive, market-based tax structure with a lower rate and incentives to encourage American innovation. Experts have stated that this combination would make U.S. companies more competitive and boost our economy." Yawn

Well it's not really Apple's fault that they're being dragged before a Senate committee. There isn't much Apple can do other than the best it can. Politicians may seek short-term gain but Apple won't suffer much more than wasted exec time.
It's a farce, but what can you do. ExxonMobil or any single company is "out of their league" vs. any one branch of govt. Go get em, Cook and Co. Question whatever strategy Apple may use, but Cook and his delegation will be prepared. Hate on Apple Day is nothing new.
