Well it's Friday ... weekly PIN day ... and yet, as discussed this week, the BBs are tightening suggesting a greater move in one way or another soon. Doubtful that today is that day. Yesterday's markets showed resilience...but remember that today's markets, like the bond and currency markets, close early (1:00 pm EST) due to the long US holiday weekend. Expect liquidity to dry up somewhat this afternoon in the equity market as everyone bolts to the respective shores for the beginning of summer season. Good luck to the longs!

I like the new Apple ad but why is everyone featured in it so youthful?

A repost from last night: OI says we close between $440-445 on Friday. Bullish with close over $445 and Bullish+ over $450. So far, so good. Zesty, even.

No one ever went bankrupt underestimating the taste of the American consumer (see fart apps), but I'm worried that iOS7's "black, white, and flat all over" design is going to look pretty bland compared to Android and its colourful (and bigger) screens. It's not going to be a good side by side compare, especially to new smartphone users. Hopefully Ive knows what he's doing.

Where did you guys hear black and white rumors? I haven't heard that at all.
In other news, AAPL is outperforming anything else on this ugly market day.

Try this link. 9to5mac.com/2013/05/24/jony-ives-new-look-for-ios-7-black-white-and-flat-all-over/ The iTunes gray menu bar along with Safari navigation bar are examples of what is rumored for iOS7. Has anyone loaded Chrome? It's very attractive. Heresy, perhaps, but I am concerned here.

Personally, I don't see what's wrong with the existing look and feel. A different icon is not going to make an app function any differently.

A flat week yet still up 11 points from last Friday. Expect much of the same next week. If the week before WWDC we don't move strongly upward and then break above 467 during the second week, then we will have long hot summer of going nowhere.
Went ahead and bought some CRUS with the little buying power that I had remaining.

It should be noted that despite their issues regarding lack of profits Windows, Blackberry, HTC, Motorola, Nokia, and others are still around for various reasons. I expect this debate about market share to be going for another 6 years. Then things will start to change as some of these players start to drop off. Mac did not win the profit vs share war for two decades. Expect a long battle in mobile since there are plenty of players that can keep Apple mobile phone expansion in check with cheaper phones. Buy and Hold for a long time.

The debate about marketshare will carry on well beyond six years, it will likely never stop. The flavour will change, it'll be rehashed, but the debate will remain the same.
The players you mention I suspect will not all be around for the next six years. Industry consolidation, once it starts, is likely to be fairly brutal.

What I meant is that the momentum that Samsung has will keep going for at least 6 years. It is after that, that I will expect to see Apple start to make market share gains in overall mobile phones independent of overall market growth. Apple broke 5% worldwide PC share in 2012. They were around 3% for a long time. I should point out that my view regarding market share for the iPhone relative to overall smartphones has radically changed from last year at this time. I thought for sure they could grow to at least 30% and maintain at least 60% in tablets. That is no longer the case.

Did someone say the exchanges are closing early at 1pm today? I see they're still trading?
EDIT: I think only the bond markets are closing early at 1pm today.

Though I will say that iOS is getting really "familiar" which isn't necessarily a good thing for an innovative company.
A new look that simplifies UI elements and trades some flash for function would be just fine. May even save a tiny bit of battery power here and there (e.g. if slide to unlock loses the animation)

It was me- first post of the day. I said bond and currency markets close at 1:00 but that liquidity may dry up a bit in the equity markets between 1-4 because people may bolt early
