Well, OS X 10.9 or 11 is on tap at WWDC. "Not like anyone cares."

Kara is trying her hand at Sigmund Freud with "What kind of leader are you?" Walt and Kara are failing us with their questions.

Smartphones aren't MP3 players, Walt. This is a Mac-like platform. You don't change everything up every year just for kicks.
Also iPhone 5 is who knows how many times better than iPhone 1, and easily twice as powerful as the 4S.

Tim continuing to show he gets it in his statement about iPods and serving needs.
How this translates to AAPL Wednesday, who knows. But at least the parts where Tim speaks should be good when the interview goes up.
LOL @ stylus, Walt.

Here's the iPhone "portfolio" question. Tim is agnostic with extending the lineup but not much else. Tim saw this Q coming and dances close to a "yes" IMO.

so no watch , maybe no TV , no bigger phone...
.yet tim said...: Yes, we're still that company. We have some incredible plans that we've been working on for a while. We have incredible ideas. The same culture and largely the same people that brought you the iPhone, the iPad mini, the iPod and some who brought you the Mac, the same culture is there. I think we have several more game changers in us.
my guess is something CAR related

Not much different from the CC remarks if you ask me. With Tim at least, it's about overcoming those design compromises and addressing tradeoffs before a product goes on sale.

I'll answer for Tim on this one: No, there will be no stylus with the next iPhone. But yeah, Tim says a bigger screen could be a differentiator (in a hypothetical world).
I think that's going to be it on the product front. Let's talk taxes now. I say, let's don't. Tim = 1 Senators = 0

I think BOTH are coming -- I'm confident about that.

100% repatriation with the right changes. Wowza. And THAT's why Apple records the deferred tax. Not all multinationals do BTW. That was lost on the Senators.

Tim has a done a good job overall -- given the low expectations for transparency. I don't expect the Q&A will throw him off his swing.

Did Kara just return from outer space? Apple already announced its plans with cash. Social? Tim? Nah. Any acquisitions in the offing? Tim: We're not afraid of that. Mmmmm

It's a refresher/primer in many ways. Translation: Not great questions, though Tim gives great, on-message answers. Sheesh, even a "tell me a story about Steve" would be an improvement so far.

Keyboards? Huh? Dictation is great, some changes would be nice, you'll NEVER see Swype for iOS. Gawd, Walt, you figure you'd know by now Apple isn't the company of Feature Lists™.

Just in case some didn't already know, Apple has "sort of" ported a key Apple tech (which of course isn't entirely an Apple original, but hey, it's not like KHTML was the bees knees before Apple) to Android. WebKit. That's "open" for you, though Google is going its own way, per usual.

On iPhone:
Walt:
When you guys did the iPod, Steve joked it was good to have products that was above five percent share. One of the things you did was to create a range of iPods, not just last year's model. In one famous moment, that you probably were involved in, you killed off the mini. You just killed it and brought in the nano. You wound up with this whole range of things. You haven't done that with the iPhone.
Tim:
"We haven't so far. That doesn't shut out the future. It takes a lot of really hard work to do a phone when you manage the hardware and software and services in it. We've put our focused on doing that right. We haven't been focused on working multiple lines."
"Think about the evolution of the iPod over time. The shuffle didn't have the same functionality as other products. It was a really good product, but it played a different role — it was strikingly different. The mini played a different role than the classic did. If you remember when we brought out the mini people said we'd never sell any. The mini proved that people want something lighter, thinner, smaller."
"My only point is that these products all served a different person, a different type, a different need. For the phone that is the question. Are we now at a point that we need to do that?"
THAT SOUNDS LIKE A "YES, ITS COMING" TO ME.

Oh yeah. Big iPhone on the way, we just don't know exactly when. "Too little, too late, what took so long" aside.
Welcome to Apple, Like It or Not.™

Oh yeah. Big iPhone on the way, we just don't know exactly when. "Too little, too late, what took so long" aside. Welcome to Apple, Like It or Not.™ Bingo I could have answered most of those questions. But this is the money quote for me. It takes a lot of work, a lot of really detailed work, to do a phone right, when you manage the hardware, software and services around it. We’ve chosen to focus our energy on getting those right. And we’ve made the choices in order to do that. So we haven’t become defocused [by] working on multiple lines.

The timing is left to speculation. Sounds like they have the iWatch ready but need more features and selling points. I like the way he addressed the issue about people not wearing watches. I also like the grand vision for the iTV. That tells me that it could be ready next year or in 3 years. They will take their time and do it right.

My RSS feeds following Tim's interview are generally positive. No catalysts here but weren't expected, either.
