Apple doesn't need to buy a car company. That's just stupid.
They need to continue integrating iOS into the car. When I lease a new car in three years, I would love to replace my key with my iPhone.

Were it not for a thing called human error (read: left my iPhone at home, etc.) and me KNOWING I won't charge my iPhone at ONE critical time (and not have the spare key, see also - human error), I'd be 100% for that. Btw, anyone here have an "Eyes Free", Siri-integrated car? Is it about as accurate as regular Siri interaction?

If it is not obvious by now, you will note that after much thought and deliberation, I too have decided that Apple buying a car company makes about as much sense as Apple opening a store on the South Pole.

I disagree. People said Apple was stupid for making a laptop that costs 3x, or charging $600 for a music player, going into cell phones and charging $600, making an iPad that was an oversized iPhone, and now for going into iWatches and iTVs. They will go into cars and here is why. People love their Apple products and will buy an Apple car just as quickly as they buy an iPad. People wait in line for hours just to upgrade their iPhone which has a faster processor and better camera. There will be a one year wait for the Apple car and it will be 2x more expensive then a Toyota. Using my iPhone to start my would be great, but what happens when after a few years the rest of my car starts to fall apart or starts to make noises. Apple will need to build one and control every aspect of the quality. They won't be able to outsource this and will need to build their own. It is much to hard to start from scratch given the complexity of building one. So buying a car company with existing infrastructure and employees will make the process easier. It will happen and you heard it here first.

Lovemyipad: I thought you were all knowing with your fancy charts. Which way is the stock going? It is going up. You can confirm after the fact. STMF. Stay Thirsty My Friends? Are we opening the bar early this week? My friends The clowns over at American Bulls say to sell AAPL. I'm not going to.

Eventually, everything will be done remotely. The question is whether Apple will dominate this space. I hope they will.
I think, short term. it will look like they will.

I think Apple should buy Fisker. They are going into Bankruptcy and would be cheaper then Tesla. Nope. Let Bob Lutz pick them up and turn the Karma into a non-hybrid as he plans. That's the only sensible route for them. Anything else is throwing good money after bad. Fisker is all style over substance. Underneath the surface are a lot of problems. Let Tesla blaze a trail that the big boys are forced to follow. I really don't want to see Apple buying them. Elon would be good on Apple's board, but I really wouldn't want him getting bogged down when he has more than enough on his plate with his own companies.

I guess you have decided that every message board needs a class clown. All of this is only marginally funny though. Try harder.
