Where does AAPL go from here...here's hoping for clues.
Futures/markets red across the board, though US futures aren't down much more than 30-40 basis points depending on the index.

So Mark Moskowitz at JPM who has an "overweight" on AAPL and is the IT analyst said he doesn't expect yesterday's news to move the needle, "The bigger story remains whether or not Apple can jump start its revenue growth profile." And from the same firm, Rod Hall, the Communications Equipment & Data Networking Analyst saying, "We see the iOS update as significant and believe it puts the company back in the lead from a mobile OS point of view."
I guess yesterday was similar to an opening night...and now we wait to see what the reviews are (analysts)...and although they are more often than not, simply wrong...and unable to see the bigger picture...they may move the stock one way or another. We are red in PM.

I've just installed ios7 and all my ugly icons and odd layout fears just faded away. It is just PERFECT and refreshing. Starting up apps that use the 'old' design rules REALLY look OLD. It is also funny to find layout testing panes and some layout bugs along the way

Analysts are jackasses that have no business commenting on iOS. What do they, or really anyone else, know about an operating system that is in developer beta?

so i don't know anything about what droid currently has now, but why is my friend posting, "So I have to wait for fall just to have iOS 7 catch up with where Droid is now?"
im assuming he's being a dick or he just read some droid fanboy article and is repeating it. everything i see says that iOS 7 is absolutely beautiful and you're blind if you think the industry doesn't 'borrow' ideas/features from each other nonstop.

Great to see some relative strength this morning.

Here's how I played the WWDC:
I had 600 shares @ 438.33. I placed a trailing stop limit order yesterday morning of $5.00 below last trade. All shares sold at a few cents over $444. This morning, I placed a limit buy for 600 shares @ 435, which filled in the first few minutes after market open. I am happy with these trades.
I am (slowly) learning to be less emotional in regards to my holdings. I plan to cut losses earlier, hedge more, and book profits as soon as I think a reversal is happening. I don't worry too much about tax implications, since I have plenty of offsetting losses.
Based on many things (technicals as per Lovey, appledoc, Mav, mace, Avi, etc. - I assimilate TA/EW from folks far smarter than me in that regard), fundies, etc., I believe AAPL will begin a slow steady (or even not so steady) grind upwards over the next 6 months. Enough to make my recent trades (commons and spreads) profitable and to help recover some losses on my older spreads that don't expire near term. The older, nearer term spreads are essentially worthless, however. I hope to stay nimble.
I have also begun diversifying more, buying divvy stocks in other industries to help balance my portfolio.
I don't think I'll ever recover all my losses since last September, but if I stay diligent, focused, dispassionate and nimble, I might just recover some.
AFB2ers: I'm still around, lurking mostly - reading and benefiting from this great community. Good luck and good trading to all.

What's in a name? Unlike the ditty, "a rose by any other name is still a rose", in tech, features of similar names are not the same. Your friend is confusing a feature/s with a similar name as being the same. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I thought it was interesting that Apple did not talk about updates to Passbook or how widely it is used. TC did say mobile payments are in infancy. To me, until those 575 million become iTunes Apple credit cards, it will be hard for Apple to make money from them. Right now Apple is still charged fees by the thousands of credit cards registered to iTunes. This, Apple TV, and wearables will take time. I don't think SDK for Apple TV will be released until Apple actually comes out with a product. Next year if we are lucky. I did not see anything yesterday to hint at iWatch. The growth is still in iPads, iPhone, and Mac.

I did not see anything yesterday to hint at iWatch. That sounds like the sort of item best saved until the Christmas season as lots of "smart" watches with GPS etc. get given as gifts.

The growth is still in iPads, iPhone, and Mac. Only thing you said that I agree with. Why? These are the products that Apple is currently shipping. Everything else is unsubstantiated vaporware.

iPhone with no front camera and home button?

It is amazing how our stock has been relatively flat since January. But even more horizontal for a full month. I give it one more month before we move up above 670 in a more decisive fashion.
I thought it would happen by now, but forgot that we usually stay flat for 5 months regardless of news.
WWDC had some good surprises and I think iOS 7 will drive good upgrades and defections. And with the same form factor we could see a nice surprise in margins for the 5S.
The new iPad and iPad Mini in the fall will help a great deal.

iPhone with no front camera and home button? Mace you are reading too much into a visual presentation that was blown up to focus on a software feature. In the future yes, but not any time soon.

iPhone with no front camera and home button? And no rounded corners and a seemingly bigger display... Yeh, I noticed this too, but it passed by quickly and I got distracted by other shiny things. A mistake? A hint?

A mistake? A hint? What did the projected displays look like in previous WWDCs? I have the Oct 23'rd one in iTunes, but for some reason it isn't displaying when I play it (on PC, of course).

And I'm a person that generally sends a handful of text messages in a month. I assume the beta is only available to developers? Otherwise, I would be willing to run beta software just to get what I saw on my phone. Obviously, how it functions is the more important thing, but it sure looked gorgeous.

A mistake? A hint? I took this to be part of "doubling down on secrecy." Why give away anything about the next iPhone, especially if it will have any obvious physical features, such as a fingerprint sensor (which I don't believe to be true, just as an example).

Mace, we've all wondered about that.
Maybe the BigPhone, if there is one in R&D, will spur thinking to eliminate or minimize that "empty space" for the speaker, camera and home button to keep one-handed operation kind of possible. You could easily put the Home button on the sides of the device, for instance.

I just took a quick look at Forstall's last two WWDC presentations, and all of the screen images I saw were either real devices or mockups that looked identical to them. This feels like a deliberate change in presentation style to me. Why? That's a different question.
