Theoretically speaking ;D, I wonder if iRadio will actually let you listen to an artist or song or your choice within the first couple of tries?
Touchscreen + ultraportable = LOL, but I do wonder how Apple intends to address MBA displays going forward. The resolution should be bumped by the redesign presumably by next year. In the meantime the "aging" MBA (in terms of form factor, everything but the iSight camera is up to spec) is looking seriously appealing to this desktop user. 10+ hours of moderate workload, without an extended battery? That's damn impressive.

People should stick to what they know. Apple's current iPhone COGS is somewhere in the neighborhood of $275 - $300. To get an unsubsidized retail of $200, Apple must reduce COGS by more than half. If they could do that, then I want to know why they haven't already done it with current handsets. Apple is not in the business of picking up dimes at the expense of giving up dollars.

That's damn impressive. Maybe someone can test that theory later this afternoon The MBA is hands down the best portable on the market. Period. The design is a classic and like the 911, doesn't need a redesign IMO. If the MBA gets a retina screen, Apple probably doesn't need both (MBA and MBP). I have the 2012 MBA and the screen is MORE than fine. I realize pixel peepers are out there, but they're more full time tech geeks than customers who actually USE the computer. I also just hooked up the new Airport Extreme. I was running a previous gen. Time Capsule with 2 Airport Expresses to improve the range. Before, I was getting 10mps in the bedrooms and now I'm getting 40mps. Wow!

There's a subsidy hidden in there. Somewhere!
Prepaid phones, PAYG phones, same general concept. You don't buy one to NOT use it on the network you bought it from. At least I don't think that's how they're used. You also want the phone to have SOME amount of minutes 'n data ready to go. At least that's how a prepaid buyer with half a brain should think. I trust Apple to be able to figure out the prepaid market in their own way. Tim's been on the case for quite some time now.

Touchscreen + ultraportable = LOL No kidding; The idea was flawed from the start. For navigating the display, the touchpad on a MBA > PC touchscreen by a country mile.

I'd REALLY like to see an 802.11ac AirPort Express. I wouldn't even be that upset if was a 900Mbps (vs. "full-speed" 1.35Gbps) version! ;D

I don't have any other gear to use 802.11ac, unless I get the new MBA. ;D Last night, I was only getting 3-4mps download and 10mps upload so one issue was I had a 2008 Airport Extreme that was slowing everything down.

The "aww no rMBA" people are morons, btw. Or at least tech Luddites (which is fine, but face it, if you're not tech savvy, don't wish for the unreasonable if you don't want your Luddite flag flyin').
Did they not see, well, the 13" rMBP? And the specs? And the form factor? And the battery? And put two and two together - as in, "hmm, I guess Apple had to design the smaller rMBP this way to fit in the battery and internals sufficient to drive a friggin' 2500x1600 display?"
There are a couple of "artificial" differences - better top-end CPU speed, that HDMI port, that timeless "pro MacBook" look. But otherwise, I think rMBA dreamers will need to keep dreaming for another 5 years at least. _Better_ display, sure, 4MP display, nnnno.

Horace Dediu tweet:
"At current share prices/user base: Each Apple customer is valued at about $440; each Amazon customer is valued about $574"

Horace Dediu tweet: "At current share prices/user base: Each Apple customer is valued at about $440; each Amazon customer is valued about $574" Yeah, that's absurd. Just in the next six months I'll be worth more than 5x that.

AMZN comparos. ;D And I'd be willing to bet Apple's rate of adding 500k new customers each day exceeds Amazon's rate. I haven't given this metric a hard look but it's a fascinating one.

That's damn impressive. I'm half wondering what would happen to the laptop market if a 12" iPad were introduced. It's a thought, not speculation that Apple is developing one. I'm torn between screen size (27" iMac) and portability. Because of the iPad I'm leaning towards the screen. This is mostly because iPad apps give the iPad capabilities a laptop just doesn't do as well (quickly/easily).

Before, I was getting 10mps in the bedrooms and now I'm getting 40mps. Wow! Doesn't your device need to be 802.11 AC to take advantage of its potential? Isn't WiFi speed throttled by the capabilities of the device at the end of the signal? I remember upgrading my offices network (to 10BaseT), but being throttled by the throughput of AppleTalk. I'm supposed to be getting 16 Mbps from Comcast, but only rarely get over 10 Mbps. With the new Airport Extreme (802.11ac) I've been wondering if it would be worth the expense to upgrade my internet access to Comcast's "advertised" 50 Mbps. Then, I need to look at device capabilities and how that will impact overall throughput. The prospects are exciting (even if I have to spend a couple dollars).

Yes. Only the MBA has 802.11AC but the new Airport Extreme has more to offer. In any wireless setup, the fastest speed is limited by the slowest airport device on the network. The signal strenght (now 6 antennas) and range of the new one is much better and I yanked an old airport extreme off the network.
Highly recommended. (FYI My Comcast speed wired to the modem is around 60mps)

Beamforming is pretty exciting stuff. Now routers can actually kinda-sorta "aim" for the various wireless clients, so there should be range, speed and maybe even security improvements if the signal isn't broadcasting all over the place.
My only problem is an AirPort Extreme is far more router than I'll ever need. I'd get greater utility from 2 AirPort Express units. Then again, if the 802.11ac AirPort Express somehow _doesn't_ support beamforming, I guess I'll have to step up.

Probably the easiest way to improve WiFi speed for the buck today. And if you do step up, this was the EASIEST to replace my old Airports, ever. Seamless.
For $100 more you get a 2TB hard drive built in, but I have enough legacy drives to last the rest of THEIR lifetimes.

Mercel, you working for Apple now? ;D. "For $100 more"... I'm bugged by the lack of configuration profiles, but that's the future as my plug-in AirPort Express units inevitably need replacement.

802.11ac will shine brightest for wireless having nothing to do with the Internet in most households around the world (will 50Mbps be a baseline broadband speed in 2030?) , but that's still gonna be very helpful for AirPlay/home networking applications.

What configuration profiles do you want? I want 1. Fast 2. Fast and 3. Fast. In that order. ;D And you don't have to be an employee of Apple to recognize the opening WWDC video on Focus swung hard and hit Google on the chin. Overall, the reviews of WWDC are very positive. However, AAPL will probably trade to the tempo of monthly OI than any reaction to it. Next week will be more interesting.

I guess beamforming is a form of focus. (Though I'm a big, big fan of the 90-second "Apple dot" video.) I look forward to getting a new AirPort Something and having it REALLY "just work" when I set it up the first time - I always have first start issues with the previous-gen models. I'm not sure if overall positivity on WWDC will provide much price support for Apple, particularly with the possibility of sub-$8 earnings a few weeks away. But hopefully Soon(tm). Tim's given us some intriguing hints about the next couple quarters.
