The only consolation for long term shareholders is thinking about the daily growth in the cash mountain generated by AAPL's incredible free cash flow. May they live long enough for it to trickle their way. Here's to your next 4000 posts

Just read on Twitter:
"Samsung shares are down on fears that innovation will slow following Steve Jobs' death."

Hmm... being a native New Yorker, I can tell you, it won't be long till the rampant criminal element of NYC will be un-bolting these cool free energy generators and bringing them home and/or trying to re-sell them on the street corner.

Bud777: No disrespect on yesterday's post, but borrowing money on a hard asset to invest in a stock that "seems" like a sure thing can be very stressful. It is one thing to invest cash on hand, but to mortgage the house (truly), can lead to many lost nights of sleep. The "rationale" for the investment can fade in a heartbeat. I understand your reasoning, but many things can happen.
For instance: What if China Mobile plays hard ball? AAPL either says no thanks, or worse, caves in. Then the dominoes go forward.
There are many other examples one can give. Making $200b a year in revenue is quite a treadmill. I have alot of AAPL shares myself, but I am peeling vs adding.
I hope the best for you. STMF

Volume may be a low record. That is the good news for today. Are you referring to volume here on AFB?

STMF I heard something on the radio about a fellow who took the money he had stashed away for his son's college education, and bought FB at its IPO. He was thinking sure thing, based on all the hype in the media. A lot of crap can happen, even with AAPL. Who on this board would have thought that we'd freefall after hitting 700 (Kass and all the other Wall St. guys, notwithstanding)?

Of course simplifying the icons, and having "too big" parts to them, means those same icons will still look good when scaled smaller to fit on a smaller screen (iWatch)

Does anyone else feel that the strive to make Smartphones thinner could be better used making the battery last a lot longer and the screen bigger? Most people I see have their phones in these big protective cases anyways, so does a few tenths of an inch thinner really make someone pick Smartphone A over Smartphone B? I'd rather have a slightly thicker Smartphone and have it last 50% longer. ummm, we don't know, and won't for a couple months, but that Apple may have already accomplished both.

No, the iWatch does not exist, but I disagree that the article is sh-t. It makes an excellent economic argument AGAINST an iWatch, not to mention usability issues like compatibility between small screens and fat fingers. I think the concept of an iWatch, as it is currently defined, neatly fits the "good idea that you say no to" ethos at Apple.

Reading commentary on the iOS 7 beta is surprisingly interesting. This particular critic (via Gruber) shouldn't be too worried, I think. Gradients are always addressable, and I'm sure someone or some _group_ at Apple wonders how Slide to Unlock became somewhat ambiguous all of a sudden. daringfireball.net/linked/2013/06/18/heilemann-ios-7

Yeah, and that's why Tim Cook dismissed the whole idea of wearable computing. My word, after the iPad mini, I thought you would have quit predicting Apple's product pipeline. Unless you're doing it for comic relief...

Wait huh? I coulda sworn I heard Tim say wearables are interesting.
Aside from size/OS considerations and concerns over exploding watches (given Apple's experience with nanos, probably not a big issue), I think the only two "holdbacks" are transistor innovation and battery tech.

Red, nothing stopping us from having a rumor/product discussion thread in an AFB2 subboard. Set one up and I'm there!

LOL. Listen, the iWatch is a fantastic idea for Apple to pursue, and I'll wager all of Red's pics of Shu Qi it will make an appearance within the year. I'm reminded of Mary Meeker's study that the average smartphone user looks at their phone 100x a day. Approx. 85 of these "looks" could be handled by a glance on the wrist. Bluetooth 4.0 for battery. The A5 1 watt chip. I mean, the only thing missing is an invite to an Apple special event.

A5? Just a watt, even with single core? Really?
I think Apple is working on power/performance, and each month brings the project closer to reality. Apple isn't in any big rush ("it takes time..."), even though...there IS a chance Apple very indirectly hinted at iWatch with the Bluetooth Beacons mention at WWDC, now that I think about it.....
