With each passing day in this farce, it becomes patently obvious that Amazon should be the company on trail for abuse of a monopoly position. I mean really, is our government and justice system that screwed up?

Mercel, hey, it's just business and the nature of competition.
Can Docomo keep holding out - or holding off the iPhone? Let's track the next couple quarterly reports to see how it's doing relative to say SoftBank.
As for China Mobile, until recently TD-SCDMA was a huge compatibility issue. There remains another: China has virtually nil LTE. Until that changes all top-end smartphones will be impacted and the cheaper phones that do less and "need" less data will do better. The main thing is that Apple has footholds in Greater China and even China Mobile. At some point a deal will get done and Apple will have some significant benefit.

CM and Docomo are hold outs and will remain so if the leverage continues to shift in their favor. That doesn't mean they aren't still interested; it's a negotiation and their patience can pay off if leverage continues to move away from Apple, which is the case based on my readings.

"Mercel, hey, it's just business and the nature of competition."
As a bonus, Apple is reminded (if it needed the reminder) that there are no sure things, even if iPhone is involved.
But I'll say it again, China Mobile >> Docomo in terms of opportunity, and that book hasn't been written yet (is the foreword even done?) When LTE starts up later this year, presumably, then it's GAME ON. And Apple remains in the game for as long as China Unicom/Telecom keep happily buying up iPhones.
Why did Verizon ever go iPhone, btw?

just saw a rumor piece on stocktwits that ipad mini 2 is not going to have a retina screen. article said the mini2 would have same display but be thinner with iOS7 and A6 processor, but the retina would come out in early 2014???
seems like nonsense- why would someone buy a non-retina in late '13 when the retina would come out early '14

Check back and see where we are a week from now. We closed at the low of the day. Doc said last week we should be ready for 420. I agree with simply because we did not hold 432.

Does anybody want to comment on Apple's patent cheif stepping down? www.valuewalk.com/2013/06/apple-inc-aapl-patent-chief-steps-down/I was thinking, did he drop the ball, and they're letting him go? or is he just burnt out on all the stress? or ...? not that this is a super big deal but it does make one wonder what's REALLY going on here. Anybody?

It's all in the hands of lawyers and the courts now. I don't see it as a big deal.

Meanwhile, Google is up today.
Since WS is so enamored with search and advertising, how about if Apple buys DuckDuckGo and have its own search/advertising engine?

StockTwits? As in it's not even an article?
iPad mini retina is what the people want. It's up to Apple to deliver.

It's laughable. Actually this makes a little sense. The iPad 2 was much thinner then original. When the Retina came out it got thicker and heavier. Apple seems to follow the same pattern. A thinner, lighter iPad Mini will still sell well. The iPod Touch is a very good indication in how slim they can make the Mini. A Retina Mini next year would be OK, especially if they can give it to us in March. I am more interested in the new redesigned regular size iPad. That will be a big hit this Christmas. I am off to play golf. My new Callaway Irons Hot X are just awesome. I am hitting 10 yard farther with less effort since they are lighter. My score has not improved but my short game is slowly getting better.

So if your score isn't improving but your short game is better wouldn't that imply your irons aren't helping?

So wasn't Max Pain supposed to be $435? That doesn't look so hot now It's still a far better (i.e. more reliable) indicator than drawing squiggly lines. And it's only Thursday. The range may still remain $430 - $440, even after today. News at 8pm PST. And Bernanke's pie hole is a catalyst, the wrong one as it turned out.

I have good news. Every time I am forced to sell due to margin calls, we rebound and go up. Will show discipline and not buy back until we close above 460. And will only buy a small amount. I think we're buying each other's shares... I'm buying when you're selling; you're buying when I'm selling.

The difference between Fundamental types vs. TA proponents is that FA guys ADMIT that it isn't reliable; TA types refuse to concede the fact their efforts are peeing into the wind.

Normally I would say this was smart, except that Sponge isn't doing it voluntarily, the brokerage firm is making the decision for him.

You have an incomplete understanding of what TA is and what it is not. Perhaps. But you can complete my understanding by explaining what utility TA has if it has no predictive value. You have said that many times, to your credit. However, the intraday is full of: Well, we're going to see $419 now...etc. etc. Why would I invest time in TA if it just tells everyone what the market is doing? I can tell you if it's raining out now, but I want to know tomorrow's forecast. It's that simple. Or not.
