Exactly. That last line is what's so important. If they blow all of the buyback money this month and we continue to tank, what good was it? Better to spread out the buyback and keep the threat of continued buyback alive.

... I think the cheaper version of the iPhone will be a redesigned 4S branded as a iPhone Mini and will sell for $329 with 8 gigs and no LTE. It will sell well in China and India. I don't think 8 gigs will even run the current version of IOS From now on, I think the new capacities for the new iPhone will/ should be 32, 64, and 128 GB. The low-cost iPhone should be 16GB. And yes, it will sell very well in China and India at a $300-$350 price range.

The buyback, earnings and cash flow will eventually make $400 too low, unless Apple stops being Apple, in which case nothing will help it. If the buyback is exhausted quicker than expected, the board can authorize more. They have the cash flow to easily do it. I'm not saying they should spend it all now, but to be more aggressive at lower price points is simply what we would all want to do - buy low.

If there is no fingerprint authentication or something equally impactful, the 5S will be a disappointment (in perception if not sales) I have to agree. The 5s needs a tentpole feature and this is the most obvious, odds-on favorite. Here's a new rendering of the rumored, less expensive iPhone. It looks great, actually. Case manufacturers have enough confidence in the design they're making cases for it. appleinsider.com/articles/13/06/21/new-3d-renderings-show-expected-design-of-apples-low-cost-iphone

Yes, I actually think it looks better than the iPhone 5.

If there was ever a week I'd like to see max pain kick in, its this week. The levers are being pulled, they are trying for 415...18K calls at 420 would be expensive...but this week is a bloodbath. Kind of like trying to clean your bathroom while someone is being stabbed to death in it. I anticipate "Psycho" will be in heavy rotation this weekend on Apple TV... The 415 put contracts outweighed the calls by 9k. So we shall see if the EO clean-up crews show up in time.

Listening to a well-known iOS developer on a recent podcast (and my own much less-knowledgeable reading of the iOS 7 development documentation), it would seem that enhancements to the operating system make it much easier for developers to design for future iOS devices of varying screen size. Marco on ATP?

So a 16GB phone will only have 9.2GB (57.5%) of usable space? That is Samsung/Microsoft-esque. Disappointing, and if true a PR nightmare waiting to happen. We all know these things get magnified 100-fold when Apple is involved. Perhaps the base model will bumped to 32GB which would be fine, but that would eat into margins a bit.

Secondly, I'm merely subtracting "Capacity" from 64GB on my iPhone -- I assumed that measures size, unless it's also storing iOS6 in case I need to restore?

I think six months after implementation IOs7 will be recognized as both evolutionary and revolutionary. Once we get past our like or dislike of the icon shapes and colors the developer community will show us the future in ways we can't fully appreciate yet...

Well, I guess that settles it iPhone 5s: No fingerprint sensor for you! ;D Everyone wants something cool that will make the 5S unique from the 5. I think iOS 7, faster processor, bigger camera, bigger and longer battery, will all enough to move units. The folks Apple is targeting is not the 5 owners but everyone else.

Been waiting for someone to wake up to this. [glow=red,2,300]Stocks That Benefit From Rising Interest Rates[/glow]The one point of interest not thoroughly discussed is Apple's long term investments and the terms on those investments, but I believe Apple is smart enough to have the appropriate clauses in effect. It also stops at 1 or 2% increase in interest, at the rate our government has been printing money that seems low ball.

History may well show that Apple's cash/debt plan was implemented at precisely the most advantageous time. I'm old enough to remember when Microsoft's cash at then 7% short term rates was hugely accretive to the bottom line each year...

Hammer time. On the indexes. Pretty bit tail. Push back over 1600 would be nice
Next week is end of quarter for a lot of books for financial companies.

My WAG is there could be more selling pressure next week, as no one wants AAPL on the books (and possibly serves as the explanation as to why the buying pressure from the 415 puts couldn't make it happen).

The 61.8% Fib retrace of the most recent intermediate move is more or less holding. Onto Monday, but the intermediate trend is obviously still down.
If there's a bright side to AAPL's trading, the pickup in volume was significant. Something like ~10M lately to 15M. And there's "another" depending on how you look at it. Remember that Apr 29 gap up? Heh.
Have a good weekend all.
