More on fingerprint sensors that we are told cant occur.... 9to5mac.com/2013/06/21/apple-patent-application-describes-fingerprint-sensor-tech-rumored-for-iphone-5s/The patent describes a process of embedding a fingerprint sensor into the bezel of a device, which sounds a lot like the finger print sensors Validity was showing off embedded in Android devices at CES this year (pictured right). Apple notes in the patent application that the sensor would be “approximately the width of an average user’s fingertip, but only several pixels tall, typically between 1 and 8 pixels, and possibly as many as 16 pixels tall” when viewed from above. Apple doesn’t get too into what functions for users the fingerprint sensor would provide, but does note that “the sensor captures a number of thin strips of the fingerprint as the finger is swiped, and the complete fingerprint is assembled in software for use in authentication.”

It's an Apple way of scanning a fingerprint, I gotta say. Not actually something the area of a fingerprint scanner.

Great link. Thanks. One more dot to connect. Put 802.11ac in the next iPhone and see how many gamers jump all over that. Not to mention the new AirPort Extreme and Apple TV with 802.11ac as well. I am not much of a gamer, and I would upgrade from the 4S just for this.

All because of 802.11ac? Nothing all that wrong with 802.11n.
I would get more excited about the A6+/A7 Apple will throw in. Should be a really nice boost in CPU and GPU. The A6 is already a night-and-day difference vs. the venerable A5.

I see it on a MacBook and iPad before we see it on an iPhone.

The A6 is already a night-and-day difference vs. the venerable A5. If 802.11n delivers a seamless experience every single time with no perceptible latency or frame loss, then I agree. Also at higher resolutions in the typical iOS games we see today. Performance must be like you are wired. I am going to pick up the new AirPort Extreme this weekend and find out. I am skeptical, but will admit I might be wrong. Our company is a streaming video company on both 802.11g and 802.11n. We still see hiccups with 802.11n, but we deal with congested networks. Maybe the typical living room is fine. EDIT - agree with improving the processor, and especially the graphics performance to help support this strategy.

Lstream, since you have expertise in vid streaming, could 1.35 or whatever Gbps 802.11ac support 4K?

How did the call writer find the buyer for 10k contracts? It's not like there's a supply problem for July 470s. Hi Mercel, That's what Market Makers do. They would buy the 10k contracts and immediately hedge the position. +1 And guess how you hedge long calls?

At Tim's request, Apple puts his gain based on stock performance. He is one of us! :-)

Much respect to Tim, though people can still jab him for having the award begin vesting prior to 2016.
I say those people are wrong. Nothing but downside risk is a Tim Cook kinda thing to do. I still believe there is no better follow-up CEO to Steve than him.
