Jeffries & Co.'s Peter Misek rates BBRY a "Buy," forecasting blow out earnings, and downgrades AAPL to "Hold." Good call, buddy! We can't all be smart. I know I wish I was.

I hope the wiser out there realize that smartphone sales, in toto, have not stopped. When Blackberry is weaker than expected maybe somebody else is making hay at their expense! We know the Government has approved both IOs and some Android handsets for use in various departments....believe me, there were a ton of government folks ready to chuck the BBBY doorstop as soon as they could....and I think they did.

Sponge call bang on for todays session. I agreed with the call and bought early today for the first time in months. There is only so greedy bears can get. And 300's feels extremely greedy so may as well buy.

Always nice to see good press on Apple. But since software isn't really considered a "product," there were probably some tech companies that did not make the list that would have, if software were considered to be so.

No one here. I told everyone Misek is a bozo. Now why doesn't CNBC conduct an off camera interview with him and use this photo of him...

I have a 32" Vizio with a dead sound board. It would have cost more than the TV was worth to fix it, so I didn't. With AirPlay in Mavericks I can use it as a display. It'll be greater for spreadsheet work, especially with menus and docks now shown on all monitors. Oh, the Vizio repair guy wanted to know if I wanted him to dispose of the TV. How nice of him Anybody have a guess that he had another defective Vizio with a good sound board?

I could almost set my watch by the arrival of the afternoon sell off. It hit across the board. I suspect a combination of day traders, window dressers, and folks not wanting to hold over the weekend.

Bought some commons. Looking for a bounce to at least the 410s.

" Earlier this week, a story hit the tech media and the advertising media that only 26% of people who see the and like it, that it's a dud, that the ad is a dismal failure. The stories also predicted that Apple will have to pull this ad very soon because people really don't like it, that it is really hurting Apple. Two days after I saw the first story, I then learned that the company that did the survey of people taking their opinions is the advertising agency for Samsung. Ace Metrix. They do the ads for Samsung. They do the marketing for Samsung. They are part of the primary rivalry to Apple, Samsung, in the mobile phone business. ........ Samsung's answer to Apple was to copy them. Go back and look at cell phones made by Samsung before the iPhone, and then look at the iPhone in 2007 and every Samsung phone. They're a direct copy. So to follow your analogy, Samsung is the minority; Apple the majority. Apple is kicking butt, winning big. Samsung wants to catch up. They copied Apple. ...... here

How is that story relevant here? The comments in that article are beyond extreme. If you are going to post irrelevant stuff, at least explain something about the story in the post. I am here to read about Apple, not people bitching about Bert and Ernie coming out or not coming out.

Bought some commons. Looking for a bounce to at least the 410s. EW or technicals-based trade? I might've nibbled if AAPL were closer to 399 for an IHS-type play, but that didn't happen end of day. There might be a trade through 399-400, but with my luck and ability, I doubt I'll catch it.

The day went pretty much as I hoped it would. Would have preferred to get closer to the weekly SMA200, but this will do.

It was a micro change in composure, but it just didn't hold up well enough for me to get interested. (Though it still caused some pain on that BPS I had.) I'm focusing on the IHS formation, personally.
Good luck on the share trade.

Uh, which ones? NASDAQ was flat, SPX sputtered to red. Just those last 30 minutes. These were the shares I sold last Friday at 418. If I jumped the gun and have to hold on longer than I really want to, that's fine by me. Somehow I doubt today will be the last time we ever see 400.

Eh, I wouldn't go that far, but essentially agree about the question of when, not if.

The author of that article has a tinfoil hat much bigger and thicker than mine. I guess I do too. I've had many of the same thoughts as her. I really don't think the thought of changing IOS interface to cause developers to dedicate resources away from Android development ever entered anyone at Apple's mind. I take Apple at their word, that they are dedicated to providing the best user experience ever. This has been and will be in their DNA for a long time. Heck, they even hired a PHD from - - to teach this focus to their employees. And I doubt the development time needed to upgrade to IOS's interface will cause a lot of resources to be spent by developers. The vast majority of developers time will be learning how to effectively use the new APIs.

And if it's not?
If there's one thing Steve _wasn't_ particularly known for, it was misdirection in the sense of implying Apple would build something.
It's also funny that so many were complaining about iOS 6 growing tired, predictable, stale. (And y'know what, I kind of agree.) The simplest explanation is the best. Jony + Federighi are in charge, Forstall and "rich Corinthian leather" and green felt have left the building. Time to clean house and forge a new design direction.
Considering the tight timeframes the executive shakeup and iOS rebuild imposed, it probably would have been "worse" if the current team had been given closer to a full year, or maybe even longer to work on iOS 7. It's quite likely that Forstall's version of iOS 7 was already in development when Federighi and Ive took over the reins.
