I feel the same way. I almost think almost think all these trademark registrations are nothing more than Apple denying others their use. Right, even without announcing the product, iWatch is identified as an Apple product. What happens if Apple doesn't announce an iWatch, and the mark remains available? Nothing good for the brand I'll bet. Did you see Mary Meeker's PowerPoint slides? Do you really think Apple is going to protect iWatch in such a public way and not use it? Did you miss Tim's comments at WWDC? The upside from iWatch is going to be equal parts the device itself and an accessory that sells more iPhones. How many times do you take your phone out of your pocket? About 100x? Wouldn't you prefer to glance at your wrist instead? There's already a market for fitness devices which probably justifies iWatch all by itself. But iWatch will offload approximately 70-80% of what you're currently pulling out of your pocket. So you envision it more as a remote Notifications device. In that context its a $80 product - MAX.

The day Apple hires you for product development is the day I will massively short AAPL.
A $80 device? Yes, almost half the price of a Nike Fuelband, which gets obliterated as a fitness device. Let's see, a color screen with 3-4 days battery life that replaces a watch, fitness device, iPod, includes an A5 chip, manages incoming email, notifications, calendar, reminders and takes phone calls.
Uh huh, sounds like a $80 item to me too. Not.

I remember when the Iphone was too expensive (wait...it always has been!) and the Ipad (wait, Mister Softy says it still is...buy those windows tablets).

I don't mind if the rally pauses for breath. It did today and finished well! I see no problems with a snapback. It's if momentum slows...again...that I'll get worried. I'm actually in a minor momo mode right now. So everyone, prepare to short AAPL tomorrow! ;D

An iPod nano price for a form factor like that of the nano that was once kind of a watch? ;D
Sounds like a reasonable starting point. ($149)
Really, if I were Apple, I would consider making the nano INTO the iWatch. Or something.

So it's ok if we drop like a rock for $50? Is everyone comfy with that? AAPL at $400 is I.N.S.A.N.E. and I don't mind this marginal lift one little bit. If the retrace stays over 400, I'll like it just fine. But to archibaldtuttle's point, I'd like to see a rally that gains momentum (versus loses momentum) as we rise. I'd show you what I mean on a chart, but um, yeah... Trust me? But hey, maybe THIS is will be that rally! (And EOs aren't jacking with retailers before earnings and/or selling short-term calls to pocket premium over the long weekend. Highest OI for this week's calls keeps inching up.)

Oh, about the "speed" of the countertrend rally. You say tomato, I say symmetry? ;D
Compare the last 10 days or so to mid-April...it shows up in the daily candles.

So $200 may not be unreasonable for a like product. hmm, I still don't see a large market for something like the iWatch (I'd have to know much more about its utility), not when so many here are clamoring for a low cost iPhone. The 2 products seem mutually exclusive.

An iPod nano price for a form factor like that of the nano that was once kind of a watch? ;D I truly believe that Apple reverted back to the old Nano form factor in order to not have the iWatch appear identical to the Nano in a 3rd party wrist band. So yeah, I definitely believe the iWatch is coming.

Being up big this week is nice, but seeing this piece about the nosedive of CNBC has made my week. Maybe this is some karma play coming back at them for their constant bashing of Apple. Excited also that Melissa Lee has been sent packing from the 9am show in favor of the far better looking (and more talented) Kelly Evans. ENJOY!

So they are thrilled to have him and have not described his job yet - and they aren't saying if he replaces Browett or not but:
Apple said late Tuesday that it hired Paul Deneve, former chief executive of French fashion retailer Yves Saint Laurent, to be a vice president.
Also: The company is still searching for a replacement to head its retail operations following the ousting of John Browett in October of last year.
Did we know this??? Well I have been out most of today and just quickly browsed through the posts - looks like rob actually posted this much, much earlier. Sorry for the redundancy - I hadn't seen it.

The 2 products seem mutually exclusive. If it has even rudimentary biometric/health monitoring functions, I can see it launching an entirely new class of consumer technology. It's probably also no coincidence that with Apples current iPhone ASP around $600. That when Apple is rumored to be launching a new $400 mid priced iPhone, it is also rumored to be launching a new $200 iPhone accessory. Brilliant.

The calls do jump up from 405 to 410, but we've seen how the range can shift down quickly when the price plummets- I could see it shift up quickly too after these two days. Granted it is a very short week. 405: 4499 410: 8424 415: 7977 420: 9440 While the individual walls aren't that big compared to other weeks/months, I do think that 410-420 combo of 25k is def a big hurdle. Maybe it's a little bit of a payback for the many many weeks of crushed calls that has occurred thus far.

Hey Lovey, I ignored your advice about buying options and I bought one and unfortunately only one contract of OCT 350 call for $55.50 on Friday. Its doing nicely. I also bought some commons on Friday. Now I think I can start to recoup some of the loses from the last six months. The plan is to sell before the report this month. Would you be willing to consider a stop loss on the call? If 400-ish holds on the next retest (after filling that gap), that could be a nice long entry for a potential 50 points. I'd like to see another higher low, as I don't trust that last one. Of course, I like shares -- dollar-cost averaging -- anytime down here.

I was looking at replacing my Luminox watch the other day. This watch's killer feature is the radioactive tritium elements that glow so brightly you can easily tell time in the dark. OK, so it's a waterproof watch with some great features but it basically does one thing: display the current time. The replacement cost of this watch is about $300.
I also have an iPod Nano in a Lunatik watch band. Sure it has all the features of an iPod Nano but basically it's crap. It's not waterproof, the display has to be awakened to use it, and the display is not as durable as a watch crystal. I think I paid in the range of $239 for the Nano and the watch band. Did I say it's crap?
I think if Apple does come out with a wearable device, it will be durable, beautiful, and superbly functional. If they really do this right, they will totally disrupt the wristwatch market. But I would expect the price point to be north of $300.

I had been way skeptical of the iWatch's existence until today's Y.S.L. hire. It's clear that this guy will be working on new products in the field of wearable tech. The iWatch has to be one of those. "He'll be working on special projects... reporting directly to Tim Cook." mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSBRE9611BP20130702?irpc=932You don't hire a CEO to be a VP unless you're putting significant resources behind something.

Oh yeah, wasn't there some news about Apple looking at using sapphire crystal in a future product? At the time, the rumor was that sapphire crystal would be used in a future tablet screen, I think. The problem is that with current technology it is difficult to manufacture large sapphire crystal panels.
Could this rumor be pointing to a watch screen, rather than an iPad screen?

Apple's new hire could be as "obvious" as Luca Maestri was as "shareholder return champion".
And it's interesting to see he used to work for Apple. Until 1997...
Just as long as he doesn't get in Jony Ive's way. Sometimes I think he's more valuable to Apple than Tim Cook. And if iOS 7 turns out great, I'll feel even more strongly about it.

Feeling good about my purchase on Monday morning. Let's hope it holds up. WELCOME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never really left, it's just that there's not much to say when your money is tied up in a useless account where you can't trade (no options capability, limited amount of trades, etc.). I've been wanting to move it since I retired last Fall, but wanted to wait for the best chance of making a profit and avoid being all cash for a week or two during a period when AAPL very likely takes off again. I figured from past experience that the best window was after WWDC and before earnings (before x-div even better). Due to AON Hewitt's stupid rules they can't transfer shares, so everything has to be sold. Then according to them, a sale takes 7 business days to settle ( !). Then a transfer had to made into an account that could be rolled over (another 3 business days). Finally, they could not roll the money directly into my E-Trade IRA. No, no, they had to cut a paper check to E-Trade and snail mail it to me. No FedEx overnight, even if I paid for it. Once I got the check last Friday I physically took it to my E-Trade branch for deposit, too late for trading Friday (1300 PDT). That one day cost me a few thousand dollars. Luckily, I hit almost the low of the day on Monday when I bought a few hundred shares of AAPL. Now everything I have is at E-Trade, who I've been dealing with outside of my employer's 401k for 12 years now. Why my former employer ever hired AON-Hewitt to manage their employees' 401k accounts is beyond me. They are so clueless and backward. Anyway, everything is now where I can trade nimbly and see everything that's going on. I'm loving it. It's a level II account, so I may be doing some options soon.
