Today was pretty nice, though some may try to make hay from the doji cross. Could just as easily be a stop to rest. We'll know more Friday. Redler mentioned 408-410ish holding to be constructive. I think it'd be better for AAPL to hold 418.9, more or less. But yes, I get the rules of retrace. Congrats on the new blog Mav! (I was a bit late to the party as I'm usually using the iPad proboards app which doesn't show signatures on posts, and I was getting confused about the frequent arborist talk).

Thanks burgess! It's pretty much a visitor-free experiment right now ;D (I have less than a quarter of my peak visitors), but maybe someday I can have a regular audience of 20 people or so!

Most often the plaintiff learns of the use of a patented IP when the Defendant (after doing an IP search) notifies them that they'd like to license a technology. That's followed by a Demand for royalties, which leads to negotiations before there is a suit. There are only two reasons negotiations breakdown. The first is that the defendant doesn't feel there is an infringement. The second is that agreement on the royalty can't be reached. I'll bet this falls under the second.

I'm curious if BU asked Samsung for royalties. Unless they used a different film/screen/whatever.

Probably go to $428 before retesting $412. Daily EMA-50-ish, you think? Maybe. At the moment, negative divergences on 1H piling up, but could get a second wind after 1.5 days of rest. Projecting the ending diagonal ($425-8) before retracing back to origin ($408).

While doing a quick Google on gallium nitride, I noticed that Samsung and Corning are basically in a joint venture in More. Didn't know that.

I second this approach. However, the iPhone in the US now dominates, but trails in China and India where there aren't nearly as many Apple stores, so I am not sure how this will spur sales in those countries. I am sure we didn't hear the complete story.

I am sure we didn't hear the complete story. The part that rings true is employee dissatisfaction with the lack of an executive in charge. I just do not understand why that decision is taking so damn long. Unforgivable in my opinion.

You can always sell AAPL. "People's Choice" Steve Cano (based on rumors) is still at Apple last I checked. Btw, he appears to be in charge of Apple Stores, which is a big enough job as it is. Recent YouTube video from Apple Store Berlin launch: youtu.be/wtB7qhlcT_oI wonder, might Tim try to bring Ron Johnson back after all?!?

Ron Johnson was just fine. It's only that little JCPenney deal. ;D

cnbc just teased an upcoming guest who believes that aapl could go down ANOTHER 42%... that would be sub-250 lolll edit: David Trainer is the guy to send hate mail to. New rule: Anyone who is right about such dire predictions gets to be a CNBC regular. Anyone who is wrong about them goes into the bear pit.

This sounds like Apple is going to go head to head with its distribution partners. I like it. Better that Apple keep as much of the ASP as possible in house, while relying on its partners to satisfy demand where Apple does not have a presence.

Being so enmeshed with carrier partners is complicated. I always buy direct from apple stores because the experience is so much better, but I bought my iPhone 5 from Verizon. Why? Because I had to negotiate with them for a couple hours in order to get an early upgrade subsidy. I couldn't have made the purchase through Apple because Verizon was the one who made the early upgrade decision.
Apple can only sell phones to new buyers or buyers who are clearly into their free upgrade period. I think that could account for a significant slice of that 80%.

People have bought their handsets from their carrier stores for the last 20 years when resigning a contract with subsidy, its a tough habit for them to break. However if apple was to offer a new cheaper unsubsidised device that was in a price range people would consider buying without a contract (a common consumption model in much of the world), then this strategy would be well timed.

That reminds me of last fall when they had that guy who said that Aapl was going down to the 380s when it was trading in the 600s. What a jackass ... Oh...wait ....

My brother has to always buy thru ATT because he is on a family plan and they switch upgrade eligibility between family members.
