Yes, the stock keeps going up...whoever had Puts on Google going into this should definitely sell tomorrow because Google will probably be back over $900 shortly

About 20 minutes ago I was contemplating about whether or not to roll my likely profit from the Microsoft puts into another Apple LEAP. At that exact moment we had a rather sharp 5.9 earthquake here. I'll take that as a sign.

I hope there are no Boeing shareholders here, another emergency landing for a Dreamliner... I bought some last Friday. Will buy more if it drops more then 3% tomorrow. The 787 is a solid plane. I have talked to engineers who work on it and have seen it in action in test flights at our airport.

I hope there are no Boeing shareholders here, another emergency landing for a Dreamliner... Not showing up in the news. EDIT: Apparently, it's JAL Flight 7, which made a safe landing in NYC thankfully.

Mercel, maybe next week Tuesday AH or Wednesday. When volume is lower than it's been but price action isn't horrible (not at all, actually), my WAG is the market is in full-on wait-and-see mode. Post-earnings is what you meant, not Monday, right? I don't recall anything re: a next Monday reference. Are you playing a certain Mamas and Papas tune with a Cerveza? ;D And I am JUST FINE with GOOG taking its lumps in the AH, as I think a certain amount of debunking of GOOG is overdue. The herd mentality among institutions thinking GOOG is a better stock to hold vs. AAPL needs adjusting.

Yes, the stock keeps going up...whoever had Puts on Google going into this should definitely sell tomorrow because Google will probably be back over $900 shortly Sad but true. I had lunch with a relationship manager with an institution that covers Apple. He really had no compelling reason why GOOG and AMZN get treated the way they do, except that the pricing of stocks is "episodic" which I think is code for "manipulation." He did say that institutions are subject to group-think and that AAPL is a victim of that to some degree. He also thinks it won't last. Perhaps GOOG's miss will prove to be AAPL's gain, but yeah, I'd be careful shorting GOOG, as it seems to trade like AMZN: Fundamentals aren't required....

Not trying to be a Debbie Downer on an up day, but I imagine Verizon marketing knew full well it had to move more iPhones to get a leg up on its commitment to Apple. Not sure how this filtered down to the retail floor, if it did. Perhaps the low cost iPhones this year did the trick -- any color on this from Verizon commentary? Brother in Enterprise sales for VZ says that's NOT the case and they don't get any Spiffs for selling Android. They DO sell what is cheapest and that's why Android gets pushed more. He says that AT&T enterprise tells their reps to sell iPhone no matter what it takes. If you have to knock the price down to zero to get the sale, do it!" Not sure about the retail side. I think a lot of it has to do with corp. culture and the fact that VZ was late to the iPhone game. Reps had other phones and that's what they're gonna push. Probably sick of hearing about Apple all that time. I'm getting a different story Chaz. My AT&T reps say they get free Android phones as a spiff. I'm sure it's no different with Verizon. These are spiffs given by the handset manufacturer, not the carrier. And my experience with AT&T reps is that they are NOT pushing customers to iPhones.

Wow, love this AH news for AAPL. MSFT forced to take a $900 million write off due to Surface tablet fail. Stock still priced way too high for PC collapse in only the early innings. GOOG seems to be negatively impacted by more people going mobile. Will also probably be less inclined to aggressively roll out new devices in the short-term. Hopeful to see a lot of new looks coming back to Apple stock. We'll know there is a God when AMZN is seen for what it is NEGATIVE earnings and flying!!! That thing needs a massive haircut - Bezos gets way too many passes! I think Bezos has pics of hedge fund managers with farm animals...

We'll see how GOOG gets valued once Motorola Home is off the books (which it should be by October?)
The bizarre thing is how much worse Google's GAAP earnings would've been without the mysterious contribution from "discontinued operations".

Googles Revenue over the last 4 quarters is remarkably flat - the year on year looks good this quarter, but if you look at the sequential growth for the last 4 quarters it has barely budged. If they don't add significant new revenue this quarter they are going to get ravaged (I'm guessing they are betting big on the Moto X delivering revenue over the next 6 weeks, even if its unprofitable revenue).
In my view Google is going to struggle to maintain a P/E anywhere near its current 26 multiple, and could (should) fall below 20 rather rapidly.

Their corners are more rounded, which means they get away with it. I agree that almost no one cares anymore about IP theft. In today's world that means free stuff and is all that matters. Ethics be damned. Samsung basically has a free pass with the current legal system.

I just had a couple of experiences that shook my faith in Apple. First, my Verizon router died, so I picked up a new one from the nearest Verizon store, installed it, and soon had our Mac and two iPhones back online getting up to 30Mbps. So what remained was to reconfigure our two Airport Express units, one attached to the home theater system in the family room and the other to the stereo in the living room. Despite trying several connection configurations (wireless, attached directly to the Mac, attached directly to the router) Airport Utility always reported no visible Airport Express units. After wasting a bunch of time assuming that the fault was mine somehow, I went online only to discover that Airport Utility 6 on Mountain Lion no longer supports g-only protocol Airport Expresses! So I am unable to reconfigure them for the new network address, rendering them useless. Admittedly, one of them is five years old, but the other was a Christmas present in 2011, and both still worked fine when they could join the wireless network. One of the reasons I buy Apple gear is because it is not junk that falls apart after a couple of years. There were varying stories online, even in the Apple Support forums. One claimed that Airport Utility 6 had been upgraded to support the newer A1264 model, but that the older A1084 model was permanently deprecated. Neither worked for me. So I decided to go to my local Genius Bar to see if I could get the straight scoop. That's when the really disturbing stuff happened, but I will save that for a follow-up post. Yes, I know that Apple is not afraid to obsolete old hardware, e.g., the lightning connector. But this is strictly a software support issue. I am going to try a different Apple store tomorrow, and will finish the second half of the story after that. My apologies, this thread is probably not the right place to post this, but I didn't see another that was better.

Huh?
Stay cool, cat. Use the old AirPort Utilty (version 5) and see what happens. I believe Apple still does have an official download link, and it works fine on Mountain Lion once you get the package open (I forget how). It's kind of a pain, but it can be done if you _must_ use the old Express unit.
Also, the 802.11g express IS old.

I didn't see enough of an edge in the butterflies to try chasing some monthly OE ones.
My WAG is 430-435. But as long as AAPL stays within 420-440, my _other_ WAG is that the price action won't "mean anything" until earnings/guidance gives us some direction.

With MSFT at 5 year highs and GOOG at ATH before both reported disappointing June quarter results today, it would be too obvious to hope for rotation into AAPL. Where does this money go, into AMZN? (AMZN reports next Thursday).
Efficient markets my a**.
