Yeah, that's it. AMZN's chart is great so it's priced to perfection. F'ing ridiculous. I have a confession to make as I am ridden with guilt. I bought 5 cookbooks off Amazon a few weeks ago. Does that make me an outcast here? I buy everything but the stock. Very happy customer.

What price can we expect AAPL to be by mid September in anticipation of new product announcements? Obviously, WS is encouraged by the ER. So, what do the experts say?? If the bottom was 385, next EW target is going to be in the 514 area. I would expect to be around that before September ends.

FWIW newsagg: Consumer Reports recently called the Tesla the all-out best car it ever tested. The Model S earned a score of 99 out of a possible 100 Yeah, but it was Consumer Reports. ;D I have a Tesla showroom near me and I've spent time in the showroom, inspecting the fit and finish, and I wasn't impressed. It DOES test well, no doubt, and most reviews are very positive. Nonetheless, BMW makes an "ok" car too . But I'll resist silly comparisons between the Model S and my M3...

Just finished watching a 5 minute segment on CNN international comparing the chromecast dongle to the Apple TV.
Ignoring the commentary about it for now - this is by far and away the most media coverage I have ever seen for the Apple TV box.
Consider how many millions of people worldwide are now seeing news coverage about the apple tv, and the fact that Apple has never ever made a television advertisement for the apple TV.

Tesla's car is 7-passenger? Well...if you made hatchback versions of most family sedans, you could probably do this too: Ah, media spin. tesla the stock is way overvalued, but the model S I would love to own. It's a legitimate 7 seater (5 adults + 2 kids) because the rear facing seats can be used without sacrifice seeing as the "Frunk" has ample luggage storage space (where an engine would normally be). It's an even more attractive car outside the USA, where gas prices are about twice the cost of US prices.

From Benedict Evans......now we need to get that line curving up.... It's bit disceiving that line isn't it? Maintaining 10% growth this year on $170 billion is much more impressive than past years high percentage revenue growth which was based on much lower revenue totals. As long as that line stays in positive territory I'm happy.

So Samsung misses on their earnings and the Bloomberg article reads: Samsung Misses Estimates as High-End Smartphones Near Saturation
Yes of course, let's drag everyone and their mother down because YOU miss, Samsung. Perhaps many have opted to use AAPL instead. Instead of the media spinning it positively for AAPL re their market share and profit margin....we hear "saturation". Well if one believes there is saturation, then I would rather be invested in the brand that has loyal followers who will upgrade and renew.....and keep the circle of life going...Hakuna Matata!

On mobile, EA continues to chart breakout hits based on big brands. I'll start with The Simpsons: Tapped Out, which debuted on iOS in 2012. In June, we released the Waterfront update, which drove Daily Active Users to 5.9 million in the quarter and established the game as the #5 top-grossing app on both iPhone and iPad in the U.S. The Krustyland update is scheduled to release at the end of this month, and we're developing more updates to keep Simpsons fans engaged. Next is The Sims FreePlay for iOS and Android. This is a great example of how a big brand can be extended across multiple platforms. In Q1, The Sims was among the top 10 grossing games on iPad in both the U.S. and the U.K. Real Racing 3 has earned a huge fan base for bringing console-quality graphics to iOS and Android. This month, Real Racing 3 released an update, which adds new courses and features such as time trials and cars from Mercedes-Benz and Bentley. This is a big year for EA's PopCap studio, and we're seeing a lot of consumer excitement over Plants vs. Zombies 2, which will debut on iOS at the end of this quarter. The game is now in soft launch on iOS in New Zealand and Australia and has reached the #1 ranking for free-to-play games in both markets. All over the world, there is anticipation building for this one. I think PopCap is about to deliver another big winner. One final note on mobile. As both Larry and Blake mentioned, our quarter was notable for the high percentage of revenue attributable to digital games and services. To that end, Apple was EA's biggest retail partner measured by sales, and that, is a first.

Hilarious. Now obviously, Samsung doesn't have to disclose, neither does Apple really, but NO ONE EVER REALLY KNOWS how many Samsung handsets (regardless of type) are sold quarter to quarter, not unless Samsung sees fit to give a number and the word "sold" in the same sentence. As it is, I think we have "estimates" of "shipments": androidcommunity.com/galaxy-s4-sales-causing-a-crisis-at-samsung-according-to-employee-20130709/Apple just said, hey Samsung, we sold 68.4 million iPhones in the first half of 2013, vs. 61.1 million for about the same interval last year. 12% sell-in growth isn't all that great, but sell-through is somewhat better (IIRC, it's something closer to 15-17%?), and the second half of the year isn't in the books yet. Good luck getting any useful info about of Samsung. Guesses aplenty from analysts, and YOY growth estimations from those year-ago estimates...don't really count. ;D

Get ready for a $440 close tomorrow. OI reports 13k call contracts at this strike, pending an update at 7-8pm later tonight.

It was looking like $435-440 (to me) when I checked in on iOptionOI. Obviously not a guarantee, but I'm a believer in OpEx price influencing.
Whatever. If AAPL keeps digesting around 435-440, I think it's good for the short-term.

Anybody notice that AAPL's ISM is nearly as high as FQ2's highest of 11.108?
11.108 will put AAPL at $445.20. After that we are in new sentiment territory.

How much cash did Amazon burn through while it was posting a loss? Check this quarter's A/P vs last quarter. Is there an increase? If Amazon lost cash, and payables went up, or Amazon took on debt, then Bezos has a problem. If positive cash flow continues, without extending A/P or taking on debt, then Bezos is doing a masterful job of masking profit. Personally, I think Amazon is a house of cards, and won't go near it, with any investment strategy, because WS seems to like it and this reality disconnect could last a long time. Cash burn was almost 800M. (Beg. of period: 4.5B End of period: 3.7B) I'd watch that for a trend. It'll be your first signal that not all is well in Camelot.

Cash burn was almost 800M. (Beg. of period: 4.5B End of period: 3.7B) You know, when AAPL hit bottom/bottom in '97, it had $900 Million in cash. As a percent of OpEx, that's much more than Amazon has, and everybody feared Apple was going to go bankrupt. Now Apple did have other problems declining revenue/unit market share foremost among them, still... I think a very small perceived hick up (sudden sharp drop in Kindle sales...Dec quarter?) will cause this house of cards to collapse.

gregg: thanks for the input. I do believe psychology has now changed on AAPL. It may take awhile longer, but there has to be some appreciation in PE sentiment. My thought is, does AAPL increase prior to product announcement, like historically, or does WS wait on results, like recently. Not an easy question to answer. I think they're going to wait. I've been doing some work on unit sales trends for each of Apple's products. I think I may have found what caused the institution to abandon ship.

From Benedict Evans......now we need to get that line curving up.... Great chart, great timing. Now while I finish up my unit sales work I'd like every body to look at that chart and recite "investors buy the future" over and over and.... It has a lot to do with my unit sales work today.

Once again, remove the massive tax breaks for buying one - $7500 federal, $2500 in my state, plus thousands more in some counties - and then we'll see how profitable Tesla is. All these subsidies do is create market distortions. Just like with solar power, take away the subsidies, and watch it collapse.
