Back to Green....digestion healthy and useful.... A close over 455 and I'll change my avatar to the wry, smiling Picard. Apple under 390 and its naked Picard proclaiming "THERE. ARE. FOUR. LIGHTS!"

haaaaaahhhhh... That's the sound of the shares I bought this morning bobbing to the surface again and taking a deep breath. A close above the open would be a good thing.

Not happening, but also not necessary IMHO.
450-455 close this week would be OK enough.

Beta code in iOS7 suggests no retina display in the next-gen. iPad mini. macdailynews.com/2013/07/31/ios-7-beta-code-shows-apple-has-a6-based-ipad-mini-without-retina-display-in-development/I'm not buying this, as the code could be just to test the faster processor in the next iPad mini. If the tech geeks can find the code for a RD, then why would they telegraph that NOW. I just sold my iPad mini, as I use the larger one more frequently, mainly for typing and secondarily, the screen (writing emails on the mini needs a higher res display). Even if the new mini has RD, I'm just staying with the 9.7" size. My hands are too big for the mini's keyboard.

If this were the old AFB late night I'd have several photos and double entendres ready to let fly, but I've reformed.

Sure you have Red...
A6 + iPad mini is a backup plan maybe. But iPads are probably a November deal anyway
If the competition can stuff higher res screens in mini tablets, you know Apple's watching...

Staying at the current resolution would not go over well, especially with the new Nexus 7. Apple isn't one to compete on specs and features, but as the pioneers of the retina display, and having it on the iPhone, regular iPad and even Macs, it would be silly to leave it out of the Mini for a second year. I would prefer holding off on updating until the retina version is ready just because of the shitstorm that a second gen non-retina iPad Mini would undoubtedly create. A non-retina Mini would not do too well at the existing price point next year, is my guess.

We'll see what Apple has first before passing judgment. There's still iPhone having a head start after all. iPad is probably a November deal.
1080p may or may not be a sign of the challenges of stuffing a 2048x1536 display into an iPad mini.

But AAPL's looking good so far!

And the ultimate insult would be that the Kindle launches with HD+ at a lower price point (I know, the forked version of Android is a POS, but still). I'm going on record now that the next iPad mini will have RD (in Oct.), as I think it would be a colossal mistake not to include it.

I can't see Apple not having an iPad mini retina offering for the holidays.
Higher res or nuthin'. I doubt the screen itself would be a concern, battery and product thickness would be.

Apple might be doing a silent update of the internals of the iPad mini like what they have done with the iPad 2 and Apple TV in the past. If that is they case, they probably won't show any new iPad minis at a keynote until the retina is ready.

In the case of iPad/AppleTV those updates were just smaller, more power-efficient versions of the same processor.

Yeah, you're not gonna have that ATH for a while people... But AAPL's looking good so far! Agreed, but I feel too good to let it weigh me down. Short term I don't know where AAPL goes, but I am quite hopeful considering the prospects for the iPhone 5S and 5C. May Apple play this out perfectly.

I don't understand how a retina display wouldn't be ready. This is not new technology. I'm no technical guru, but at a glance it's a question of trade offs. Do you introduce a Mini that retains the same form factor (width particularly) and accept the decline in battery life? Do you introduce a Mini Fat that retains the battery life with RD but loses the form factor? It's not a given that Apple can engineer a Mini RD that retains both form factor and battery life.

The only person who cared about the bump in thickness between iPad 2 and iPad 3 was Jenny Craig, fearful that fat was the new "in" and thin was "out." THAT ain't going to happen. I'll trade thickness for battery life any day, including a thicker iPhone. I believe most people would.

We may have trouble with 450, given the added OI at this strike over yesterday.EDIT! My guess is $454.97: Just caught the update at theocc, which is easier to review than a chart, at least for me.
