From Investopedia...
When distributions are made, the adjusted closing price calculations are quite simple. For cash dividends, the value of the dividend is deducted from the last closing sale price of the stock. For example, let's assume that the closing price for one share of XYZ Corp. is $20 on Thursday. After close on Thursday, XYZ Corp. announces a dividend distribution of $1.50 per share. The adjusted closing price for the stock would then be $18.50 ($20-$1.50).

Well, volume's picking up again, that's for sure.

I have an accelerated trendline that's just what it says on the tin. Breaking below it wouldn't mean disaster. But it's due to intersect with my top primary trendline soon. That might be useful to measure micro composure. My primary trendlines are a parallel price channel (about 40 points). AAPL is actually still trading above it following yesterday's breakout, though not by much. Can I find it here? aapltree.wordpress.com/2013/08/05/aapltalk-8513-market-close-breakout-but-will-aapl-hold-higher/

Yep, that's a slightly older version. I can't retain trendline precision from one timeframe to another so I'm focusing on the hourly for now. I'll post an updated chart soon. EDIT: To me, the accelerated trendline (lighter green) has way too many contacts not to keep track of, but YMMV. Dark green is the price channel.

I know, it's almost like "trolling" Mercel. But I don't agree with this master plan deal either. No bulls will save AMZN during the next market downturn, because promises and strategy can't substitute for fundamentals and results (or dividends and buybacks..which it helps to have spare cash for) when sentiment fades away. That _is_ why AAPL bottomed in the 380s, after all. (/semi-sarcastic remark about price support) The company's fine. But don't delude yourself into explaining away the valuation. There's no explaining it rationally; maybe there's some "excuse" if you're not really a market participant, but if you are... daringfireball.net/linked/2013/08/06/bezos-amazon

Tracking OI and the changes in it from Week to Week has helped my investing significantly.
Starting with January 29, short term interest has been very volatile, one day favoring Calls, and the next favoring Puts. This leads me to believe that there is no consensus in waht AAPL is going to do in the near term.
I'm thinking of Closing my Weekly $460/$465 BCSs tomorrow because of that. Oh, I forgot to add that I'm in at $2.21. They were as high as $4.10 this morning.

Battle lost with 200 day MA. Next is look on downside Lots of MA support between 430-445. I think it would be a great place to buying back more First test of resistance/support usually doesn't break. Should be a retest. Not sure if retest comes before or after retrace to SMA-10.

BEZO’s buying a lot of political influence. And we can’t discard the fact that Amazon hasn’t been an enormous player, at least up until the dispute over sales taxes, and in buying The Washington Post, he has a seat at the table. And I think particularly legislators and anti-trust regulators are gonna be weighing the dominance of Amazon a lot in the years ahead. Didn't know that Bezos invested in Business Insider as well. Maybe that has something to do with the crap that we see come out of there. Linky poo

Hm...FSLR a decent momo short? (Said Mav AFTER the -9% drop in AH.) Well, it certainly made for a crappy momo long. I ducked out of that position this morning.

From what I read, fundamentals sure don't look promising.

Gruber, wha? daringfireball.net/linked/2013/08/06/bezos-amazonI guess this is where I strive to be a little different. A little cross-training in fundamentals would tell you that this theory is either the high point of the silly season, or Bezos' stock will take a bit of a haircut within the next few years since WS will not be kept waiting forever.
