Hey Red - That "2:14" push didn't happen today. I'll be very happy if we close above 510. It kinda sets the stage for 525-530 by Friday. Darn all of you! Forget TA, FA and the mystical entrails of a goat. The 2:14 push has failed today. Apple is doooooooomed!

Mercel and mace I go way back on AFB. Don't mind the back and forth macwire. IF tomorrow goes somewhat according to "plan"? What an awesome day. I'm about to get steamrolled tomorrow, I just know it. Anyone know where I can buy salt pallets to toss over my shoulder? Salt Pallets? Those things are heavy.....You must be really strong.

In after hours there were 2 large red candles from about 510 to 507.
Anyone have a clue? Options exercised and settled after hours?

Fine, something more like a Morton's salt container at the supermarket. Happy? rickag: IMHO, if AAPL doesn't really move all that much by the end of AH, a few outlier trades aren't that important. Let me attempt to predict iPad's reply for the day:

doc mentioned a week or two ago, and earlier that it would be smooth sailing till 514. then today hit 513.74 and turned around.
whether you hate it or love it, that has to count for something. i like acknowledging all tools because someone out there is trading strictly off of tool X, tool Y, or tool Z.
lil bit of TA, FA, pain, and a lot of sentiment is good for me.

I have been pretty spot on since before earnings. But to be fair, I said we'd fill the gap to 514. So I was just a little off I'm not looking for credit. I'm just trying to help y'all make money. I always post all my trades, and I've mentioned my TA for dummies, MACDh approach which is as easy trading as it gets. I'll update the year net later for those interested.

Now that AAPL bounced off 514ish (short of 515 in any case), who knows what's next? I'm looking for some directional price action tomorrow for the 515 call/510 put play I have on (obviously, it'd be more helpful to me to have downside retrace). I'll probably get slammed/close out the trade tomorrow, but at least I'm playing with "house money" for once.

Doc,
Is there a good resource for tracking the MACDh?

Any chart program? StockCharts(.com) is free if limited, it charts MACD-h by default.

My TA IS limited. It's tracking sentiment, fine. But Carl Icahn is tracking value, and like FA, we KNEW AAPL was bound to recover, which is why I was buying all that I could at $400 level. Sorry, but I've followed TA on this board for years, and its not proven to be anything more than an "after-the-fact" guide that "fills in the blanks" on price movements. Lovey says it's not predictive, so what value does it have other than a reverberation among those TA players who climb aboard the stock with some residual self-fulfillment attributes. You can questions what I know about TA and my answer would be the same if you were to ask me about astrology. Why spend time on something without a track record? I think it may have some value in the day-to-day action, but beyond that, it's just too speculative to take seriously. If one feels good about entering and exiting positions based on TA, missing out on AAPL increases in between those moves, fine, but it's not much of a recommendation for it. A great big one... for an excellent post.

Mercel, you HAVE noticed the drastic sentiment change, right? Technicals is just another way of measuring that as mace says. For crying out loud even iPad is humoring my blog. Proof ANYONE can learn right here! ;D I'm a Sagittarius, and you know, we're an optimistic lot, full of imagination and if we had a negative trait, it's that we say what's on our mind. So, blame my failure to "bite my lip" on things I don't agree with. Holy mackerel. November 26 here. Your self description could be equally applied to me.

Here's something I haven't seen before.
Since tracking Open Interest and Put/Call Ratio I've noted that the week after monthly OX both Call and Put Open Interest fell significantly, Week over Week.
That did not happen today.
Puts fell as before, but Calls actually increased in number. The reason was probably due to the high level of Calls being exercised last week through Friday's OpEx.

What's your favorite indicator of Sentiment?
I have several that I watch in tandem. One of those is trading volume combined with direction of price.
Today marks the fourth Monday in a row where trading volume was higher than the previous Monday, with price keeping the same upward track as well.

AAPL's trend.
Anybody have a problem with the following trend lines?
Intraday High as of: 24 July 30 July 5 August
Intraday Low as of: 24 July 30 July 5 August
AAPL appears to be trading about $10 above the extensions of those lines due to the Icahn announcement.

I pilfered those characteristics today off an astrology site for entertainment. For extra grins, pick another sign and you'll agree with that one too. For the record, astrology is a bunch of pseudo science IMO. I once knew a very smart mathematician who charted me and lured me into thinking, albeit briefly, there was some basis to it.

As long as the color works (it's Jonathan Bloody Ive, it's gonna work), welcome to the iPhone 5S color scheme family! But for me, it's the classics, and apparently black and slate will remain (whew).

I love the subtle champagne and may succumb to this color to go with my caviar dreams....
Sagi's mix well with Gemini's, supposedly. My car was built in June and so far we're solid.

Some reports now that there will be no Beta 7 for iOS7. We go to GM at month end
From 9-5 Mac
Update: iFun recently reported that its sources say there will be no more betas for iOS 7 until a GM is released at next month’s event. The site has been correct on beta releases in the past and tells us the info comes from a reliable source.
