Oh for crying out loud.
My trade might have worked had I waited a half hour. Eh, off to corner I go for picking too short-dated stuff.
At least it was more like a glancing blow than a 2 by 4.

What happened at 9:50a? I don't see any significant bad news; the financial post is reporting that a deal with CHL is done. Isn't that good news?

Well my stop limit for 50 shares executed for ~ $100 gain. Reset my other stop limits to sell 44 shares out of the 50 shares I bought @ $500.

AAPL _could_ use a break.
If a NYT/AllThingsD (WSJ)-type source doesn't report on it, there's still doubt in the air. Honestly it might persist 'til Sep. 10 even if true. 700M subscribers (albeit hardly all on smartphones, much less 3G/LTE) is no laughing matter.

I would prefer we not get a right shoulder looking deal today. From yesterday.

I got stopped out as well. Came a long way. I had my stop at yesterday's lows or there abouts. When it hit I rolled it a little lower (doh) and finally accepted defeat. Promptly rolled to a higher strike with much less risk.

AAPL action is iffy right now. Of course for perspective, AAPL's retraced ~10 points of a 125 pt. move.

Would love to see this reverse back to even or so which establishes today's low as a stop or level to trade against.
Remains to be seen. Pattern has been market gets weak in the afternoon.

For sure. But you sure as heck don't want to be holding options bought at AAPL 500-505 right now, y'know? Esp. shorter-dated calls/BCS.
Flat AAPL right now. I just have my very small common stake.

Right. Had 500s I picked up pre Icahn. Had to book them. The prudent move was to sell calls against em yesterday which I nearly did but didn't. Ah well.

If Android can't get UI feel quite right, there's no way the Metro mashup that's Win 8 would. MSFT may be a damn good short one of these days.

I am glad I stopped following the S&P awhile back. It provides minimal help on AAPL trading. AAPL trades on its own momentum, earnings and product schedule.

Thoughts on LTE or no LTE for the 5C?
I'm leaning towards no LTE being a better choice for this year's model.
Pros: - reduced cost so can increase unit sales or margins - plenty of demand in China just with 3G (will probably have supply problems anyway) - further differentiation from the 5S - reduces cannibalization from the more mature markets - it will fit the target demographic better (many will not have big data plans or even access to LTE). Apple has never been known to put in features for the sake of it.
Cons: - "LTE-gate" - general impression of Apple not making the best device they could
The quoted passage is from Huberty's research of the Chinese market.

Great news if accurate. I would like to see a push to around $429. This is the time to recapture some market share which has been bleeding lately on an international scale. Don't forget about the recurring revenue that each user represents, as well as the hit to Android and Samsung (an Apple customer is likely an Apple customer for the long term). I feel there could still be plenty of margin at $429 to make a killing.

It's all or nothing as far as LTE. Apple doesn't do the stuff Samsung does (like giving the US market crappier processors on the Galaxy S3/S4). Since an A5-equipped iPad mini has LTE, you better believe a higher-ASP iPhone 5C would (provided it exists, which I'm 90% convinced of).

First time or new smartphone users will often not want expensive data plans or care much about LTE. Those that do will typically go for the higher end phones. I'm speaking very generally of course. No solution is going to please everyone but this may be best for Apple and most consumers should not have a problem with it. If the 5C is "too good" I forsee issues with cannibalization.

Those that don't need it can pay the base price, those that want it can pay a bit more. I do think $129 is a bit much now...this should be revisited.

Our momentum seems to have stalled for the last 6 days of up.
We need Carl Ichan to start tweeting about AAPL again...
or maybe just another quick phone call to Tim.
