Important day for AAPL to reassert some kind of micro composure. IMHO, AAPL needs to hold above 505ish, at least 504, and 502 is really pushing it to not test 500ish (which doesn't seem like it'd be a successful bounce-and-don't-look-back kinda level at this stage of the game).
But I'm talking very micro terms. Intermediate term, there's absolutely nothing to be concerned about. Technically, AAPL could drop to around 465 (38.2% retrace) and be just fine uptrend-wise as long as AAPL held and bounced strongly from there.
Btw mace, what's your read on the I-Cloud?

Some positive (albeit small) news for AAPL this morning --- Bloomberg reporting China Telecom posted second straight profit gain on iPhone: China Telecom last year said the iPhone would help it achieve long-term sustainable growth even as it caused “short-term pressure” on profitability. The company reported three straight declines in net income until last quarter, when it resumed growth. Link, if you so please, is: www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-08-21/china-telecom-posts-second-straight-profit-gain-on-iphone.html

UBS raised PT to $560 from $500. I wonder how many more upward revisions we will see in the next few weeks... Or days.

All of us should start an online "research company" and start issuing price upgrades.
I just revised my price targets higher. ;D

Good morning everyone. Today will be my last day on this board as a participating member. Want to thank all of you for your friendship and commentary. I have learned something from almost all of you. Did you get a job with Apple? OR, do you feel the + vibes you get here about AAPL do not coincide with market sentiment?

The forum is a lot like listening to sports radio. Entertaining but doesn't really make me a better athlete.

Sports radio isn't supposed to make you a better athlete. It's supposed to enhance your enjoyment of watching/following sports.

505 is a beast. If we break that I suspect 510 will be hit quickly

Reread yesterday's thread. It didn't seem like anyone was attacking you. Several folks were giving you insights into how they use TA. There are plenty of people here who use FA as well, and a few who use DCF. It looked like healthy discussion to me. You were demanding exact predictions when iPad (and others) stated that TA gives her a set of if-then scenarios and signals. FA and DCF didn't predict our long drop from $700. (Aswath Damodoran got out before we topped, but not because of DCF, but because it was a crowded trade that he didn't feel comfortable with).

Seems volume today is lower and AAPL is holding. I count this as a good thing, sellers aren't selling?

Has the weekly pinning moved a few days early? Been moving in the 500-505 range for a while since yesterday.

appledoc, this price action seem pretty bullish to you? Does to me. I'm a bit surprised. The inverse trade is on again...broader markets nervous, maybe thanks to the upgrade but AAPL puts in a quiet inside day so far.

Hmm. Either there's a "more convincing" right shoulder in play or AAPL is stabilizing. Maybe we'll know by Friday?

It seems a big fear trade could have been made in the first five minutes post-release of the FED minutes, as investors scrambled to speed read and decipher the ramifications. I wonder how many automatically short the market, and then quickly cover.

Now I get it, the C in iPhoneC doesn't stand for Color or Cheap, it stands for China. Mystery solved.

All of us should start an online "research company" and start issuing price upgrades. I just revised my price targets higher. ;D I've just revised my price target higher also, from $600 to $710 by the end of Fiscal 13. This is not based on my estimate of future iPhone, iPad, or other Apple product sales, it's based simply on the fact Carl Ichan will start tweeting about AAPL again...

Also note that UBS was a big seller of shares in the June quarter BUT it was a big buyer of calls too (the number of contracts acquired control far more shares than it sold in the same period). A bullish sign to me.

Barf close
RSI in the Dow and SPY imply a strong bounce is imminent. At least looking at previous low readings.
