First PM trading nudging $505
Just got back from seeing Elysium, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Mac Pro cinema ad down here in Wellington - it was localised to Southern Hemisphere as well "Coming Spring 2013" - Apple spending quite a bit on this campaign.

Spring 2013? What'd I miss?
Considering movies are showing TV ads now, the Mac Pro ad fits in more than fine. Looking forward to seeing it at the Apple Store when it launches.
Let's see if the PMI numbers from China, Germany and the Euro zone can help lift AAPL over 505 tomorrow.

Also noticed Jodie Fosters character in Elysium wears a very conspicuous gold plated Bvlgari "wrist computing device".
Looked like crap. Gimme an iWatch already.

Put in a limit order to BTO OCT 525/550/575 Butterflys @ 2.80. We'll see if I catch any today. Past 2 days my limit orders haven't been hit. These bid/ask spreads are pretty wide, grrr.

Not a very insightful Reuters article. Could even Steve keep Apple from "going corporate" in some way at $150B? I remember when Fadell left. Would never have happened while...oh, right.
We'll check in on Apple's numbers and Tim'a popularity (proxy voting) in a few months. In the meantime, how unbelievably myopic to even suggest no watch or TV is no new product or non-innovative. Steve didn't launch those either, and like Safari Pad there were reasons I bet...and who will be CEO when Mac Pro 2 launched?

To say nothing about commenting on Tim's whole "transparency" thing while neglecting to mention his "we're doubling down on secrecy". These guys really bug me.

Worth reiterating - there will always be controversy surrounding Cook's performance because the hand he was dealt was to fill the shoes of someone whose shoes were just impossible to fill. I like Iger's comments - Tim is his own man. Mav is correct in that the company has gotten so big and I wonder how SJ would have handled it - hey maybe better but maybe worse. We'll never know and can only speculate but in my mind I feel that everyone will move on from comparisons once a successful product that SJ was barely involved in comes to fruition. For now, the comparisons still remain. The article made its way around several sites this morning so I wanted people here to be aware of it as well...FWIW

This entire debate on Tim Cook's performance is really a non issue. As far as I'm concerned , Tim Cook led Apple during it's biggest growth spurt ever during which Jobs was battling Cancer. I doubt Jobs was managing anything on a day to day basis during his liver transplant .... during the last few years of Job's life his role was diminished greatly ... yes he was still a visionary but Apple simple EXECUTED during that time and I give the credit for that to Cook.
Maybe the biggest problem is not Cook's actual performance but rather the fact that he and Jobs are complete opposites . Jobs could and would fly off the handle at any given moment but We've watched (during the Senate hearings) Cook maintain the utmost composure in trying times ... they are very different people. It's a big mistake to think that Cook isn't as qualified or passionate about the company based on his personality but I can understand why many think so.
I'll say it again .... I think Cook is doing a wonderful job.

Don't have my charts with me, but I think we need a little more down to complete this. Maybe down through tomorrow, and look for an entry at the close.

Might be a good time to buy some if there's panic selling after trading resumes.

Some technical glitch ... CNBC is covering it. NASDAQ has not moved in 20 minutes.

Trading halted on the NASDAQ. Oh well. Why? Is a news release coming mid day?? NASDAQ itself is down due to a problem affecting quote dissemination. www.cnbc.com/id/100968086

Well, the VIX is moving up nicely. I'd be somewhat worried too, from all these rumors of cyber attacks.

It's nice to see that AAPL has been holding it's price pretty steady for the past half hour.

It's going to be so easy to sell AAPL at $600. AAPL remains the favorite plaything stock among the hedgies and day traders. I frankly think there's correlation between high trading volume and bullshit valuation. Looking to exit this nonsense ASAP.
