None of this shit would happen if only shares were traded. +1 I realize it's not a popular opinion on this board but the stock market is the new casino for most. +10. It's been that way for awhile. Look at AAPL's volume compared to GOOG's. Or, even AMZN's. I'm surprised the Nasdaq hasn't hired Wayne Newton as its spokesmodel.

I don't think that fingerprint security is incremental. Instead, it's exponential, in that it expands the potential uses for the phone. The first iteration doesn't need to do much more than offer a way to access or lock the phone. But in five or ten years it might become our primary security/recognition device.

I kind of like the board bickering. A lot of us have different strategies and views. All see this great under valued company. What makes me check posts all day is the differing view points. And arguing these view points to the extreme. And how this drop from 700 has changed all of us more or less ..

One-touch authentication that ships in volume that actually works, actually lasts and with trademark Apple ease-of-use? I keep thinking back to this June and iCloud Keychain. Security without having to worry about it. This is a BIG deal and if it's for real, yes, Apple will tie it into a much bigger commerce initiative for sure.

Travis tweeted it best today: I've always said $AAPL stock is a derivative of the options. When the options stop, the derivative does too.
For myself, I'm looking to get out of all options at the earliest opportunity. Options have hijacked AAPL as an investment opportunity and turned it into chips at the casino. Honestly, I feel the pain of the shareholders and for what it's worth, most of my options are longer term (I certainly have nothing expiring in 2013!). I'm surprised that over the past nine months, there are still people with money playing the weeklies and minis, which I think have really F'd up AAPL, the stock.

508? Why not 510 Red? Heck, I don't know...just trying to split the diff with sentiment and the lucky number "8”

My definition of "deliver" - iOS 7 should do fine: 5S with the usual enhancements, with fingerprint security system as the tentpole. A7 with 2x CPU/GPU would be nice if only because Samsung is showing these kinds of performance gains are still possible. Beyond that nicer camera, somewhat better battery life, maybe a new LTE version and China Mobile is all Apple "needs" this iteration. Bonus if Apple finally improves flash memory capacity to say 24GB standard low-end, 48/96 higher-end. iPhone 5C with A6. I mean, game over everybody else, at least if 5C can reach a magical $0 price point. But overall, having a "new" phone (I assume with LTE) will be quite good for Apple and worrisome for the competition. Well maybe not Moto X, since they've got wood. ;D I can't imagine they would have any trouble delivering on your list of items with the exception being fingerprint recognition ... which from what we've seen has a pretty good chance of showing up. I certainly hope it will because if it does not I can hear the screaming on Wall Street already .... Cue the idiots on CNBC and Colin Gilis ....

You're not leaving the board, are you? It's not a good time to be in options from 513, maybe. And options are, well, options. Inherently risky even without all the fun stuff surrounding AAPL. But I'm feeling pretty damn optimistic once September rolls around. I may have a hard time resisting the impulse to place some advance bets, dips be damned, once I can see iPhone 5S/5C both for real and on their way (sure some chuckleheads will claim supply issues, but really, who here thinks Apple won't sell 6M+ in the weekend launch interval?). Why do you feel otherwise, with hot new product and a new AAPL "patron saint"? Btw: I'm not dismissing the possibility of "iPad disappointment", but iPhone should dominate WS's attention for at least a few weeks or so post-launch, along with potentially promising earnings/earnings chatter in the interim.

Red - and if I'm talking to myself/talking/posting too much, let me know - I'm not sure I "like" it from a sustainability standpoint, but it sure looks the recent economic data looks "good" in China and the Euro zone (imagine that! The Euro zone not roiling the markets). Plus, there seems to be enough of a stalemate with US economic data (stagnant, yet holding up where it needs to like housing) to both stave off fears of an impending domestic economic crash AND fears of the Fed getting overly hawkish with tapering. You can imagine how tough that is for an armchair economist like me to process all that, but it seems to translate into a nice boost for equities, at least for now.

I was trolling for that response, and now I shall leave FOREVER.
Until tomorrow.
Or maybe sooner. And before I go - damn, the Nikkei's on fire today!
