Starting early (just a bit), but eh, whatever, "who cares".
Wonder if a decisive AAPL move will bring about more activity here. Not really sure though.

I don't think it's boring price action that's made the board quiet.
I think we'll see a decisive move today, and carried through the rest of the week. Then we can resume the rocketship ride.

Random musings on a quiet board:
I'm liking the odds of the new iPhone shipping on Sep 13th.
I heard a good comparison recently for Apple and its industry position to that of Nike (profit leader, not unit leader, a premium mass market brand - not a luxury niche brand). I wasn't surprised to discover Tim Cook has been on Nikes Board of Directors since 2005 (I'm surprised this hasn't been noted more in the media).

I would love Friday the 13th. I have said it on this Board before ... 13 is a very lucky number ... and Friday the 13th is even BETTER (I was married on a Friday the 13th!) -- love it!
In more perplexing news...someone is taking AAPL down over 5 pts. on a little over 5k shares. Almost as if they want it to touch a certain level so we can resume doc's rocket ship ride.....

A lot of apple love on CNBC squawk box this morning, earlier they were talking about the new trade in program, then they were demoing Siri on their personal phones as it was disparaging google glass, and now they are actually talking about iPhone & iPad Airplay compatibility and what it may mean for gaming.

The CM deal will be the rocketship fuel, even more than the iPhone launch. WS will love it!

Repost from last night in case anyone hasn't seen:
Can't tell for sure but it looks like the 5S has gone even thinner. Not sure how I feel about that, if battery could have been beefed up as a trade-off. Both the 5S and 5C look nice though.

The CM deal will be the rocketship fuel, even more than the iPhone launch. WS will love it! I hope you are right. Having participated in the drop from 700 and watched Fund Managers drop AAPL I expect the CM deal to increase AAPL how much I don't know. I just have a feeling AAPL is now a show me stock to much of Wall Street. Assuming the iPhone 5C is a resounding success AAPL will definitely hit the Saturn rocket stage 2. I believe Wall Street wants to see a substantial increase in revenues.

Greetings Board members from a long-time lurker! Since Sept 10 is two weeks away, does anyone know when Apple typically sends out invitations before an event? I'm thinking it's about 10 days, but can't remember for sure.

I'm thinking it's about 10 days, but can't remember for sure. Last year the invites went on on Tuesday, Sept 4th for a wednesday, Sept 12th event. This year Monday the 2nd or Tuesday the 3rd would make sense for a Tuesday the 10th event.

It shouldn't be perplexing, with this volume, and AAPL's intraday low holding fairly steady, what w have is a dearth of institutional Buyers (waiting for new product announcements..). What also don't have is a large supply of Sellers (of any kind). I'm expecting a pre-announcement run up next week (buy the rumor, sell the news). Yesterday I bought Sept Week 1 $500/$505 BCSs at $2.95. Had I waited a day I could have bought much better than I did, but my crystal ball stopped working many years ago.

i don't know if anyone posted this recently, but I saw on appleinsider yesterday that gazelle is letting you lock in the current price for an iphone trade-in if you are getting a new phone, as long as you send them the phone by october 15th. you don't have to commit to anything either, but I figured it couldn't hurt. I can trade in our 2x iphone4S unlocked for $215 a piece (225 with amazon gift cards), thus my upgrade to the 5S will be free (or a bit more if I go with a HD upgrade). Also apple is supposed to roll out some sort of trade-in program soon too, so if there offer is better then I'll just do that. appleinsider.com/articles/13/08/26/gazelle-announces-price-lock-offer-through-oct-15-for-iphone-trade-ins

You will probably get much more than $215 a piece and you won't have to deal with shipping anything.

I've used Gazelle before, but I used Apple's recycle program last year to trade in three iPhones. I compared the price with Gazelle and they were the same. The only difference was with Gazelle you get a check and Apple you get a Apple gift card.

Back to normal... SPX drops a bit, AAPL drops more; SPX rises, AAPL drops. Thieves!
PS: hoping that the 20d SMA holds at $482.25.

Exaggerated selling. And since it is, I probably chose the wrong hedge. I'll live.
Waiting on a better entry.

What happened at noon? Any news I haven't heard? If this is the market's reaction to the new Samsung watch, then I'm living on the wrong planet.

I think we may bottom here for the day. If someone was a gambler ie trader it looks like a great spot to place a wild card quick in and out

Just had some open buy orders fill as we crossed below 495 and 490. Still keeping some powder dry for further pullback. Replacing shares that were called away when we rose above 500 a couple weeks ago.

My open order at 490 also filled. I set a tight stop at breakeven in the event we reverse course again.
