uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/taiwan-wins-apple-iwatch-orders-061338002.htmlTwo leading Taiwanese electronics firms that assemble products for Apple have received orders to make the highly anticipated "iWatch", an analyst and reports said Wednesday. "Apple is likely to introduce 'iWatch' in 2014. From our channel checks, Inventec is the major assembly source for 'iWatch', with about 60 percent of order allocation," said CIMB Securities analyst Wanli Wang in a report. CIMB projects 63.4 million units of "iWatch" shipments in the year after its launch with an average price of around $199, while the "iWatch" project is estimated to contribute 19 percent of Inventec's earnings in 2014, Wang said. Taiwan's Apple Daily newspaper said Quanta Computer was splitting the "iWatch" orders with Inventec by taking 40 percent of order allocation, citing unnamed sources.

In other news, Google has dropped the price of the nexus 4 phone internationally to $199 unsubsidised. If I wasn't an iOS user I would call that a good deal, that's half the price of the iPhone 4. Of course this barely affects Apple, but must really piss off other Android vendors. www.theverge.com/2013/8/27/4665960/google-drops-nexus-4-price-now-starts-at-199I don't really see the point of Google undercutting other android vendors with selling nexus phones at cost (it makes sense in tablets where android is struggling, but not in phones where it has an obvious marketshare lead). Oh well, it is there position to throw away if they choose.

Good news from yesterday (ICYMI) appleinsider.com/articles/13/08/27/e-books-trial-judge-vows-light-injunction-against-apple-plans-to-require-external-monitorWhile Judge Cote's final ruling will ensure Apple does not again collude with publishers to fix e-book prices, the jurist does not plan to restrict current arrangements with suppliers of other digital content like movies and music. The DOJ was seeking such remedies when it floated a list of potential penalties earlier in August. In another blow to the Justice Department's sought remedies, Judge Cote found a provision that would allow apps to link out to their own digital bookstores without paying a sales commission to Apple "unnecessary." Apple argued that the DOJ request would unduly give other e-bookstores, specifically market leader Amazon, a competitive advantage over the iBookstore. Apple will, however, most likely be required to bring in a monitor to oversee the company's antitrust compliance program. Judge Cote said the monitor is necessary due to the company's "blatant" antitrust violations. Apple previously argued against such action, citing undue cost and burden.

Battery life is the next big play in cell phones IMHO and that hopefully Apple can be the first to blow the competition out on battery life, may be Algo Trim can help.

Ideal long setup this morning would be lower low (than yesterday), then reversing (up) above yesterday's LOD. That would be the buy trigger, with a stop below yesterday's LOD for day trade or today's LOD for swing trade. (Yep, this would be Redler's Red Dog Reversal.) Investors, of course, can buy anytime. But least amount of timing effort for optimizing results (best bang for your TA timing buck): wait for daily MACD-h slope to go positive (means you have momentum at your back, not in your face). Might not get the absolute low, but you won't be riding red after you enter, which is psychologically beneficial for some. ;D Doc has posted about MACD-h entry/exit recently. Mace and I posted about it on AFB1. It remains, in my estimation, the best Timing for Dummies.

Sales are blah. Mostly weak due to Hong Kong, a big gateway market but not where Apple's China battles are won or lost.
China still lacks LTE and China Mobile isn't selling iPhone. No iPhone 5C yet either. No one should count on iPhone sales "exploding" this gen given the overall sales environment, but there should be regional improvement over the next few quarters. iPad mini would help in that regard too.

What the hey. Swing long XOM for a 200-day recapture play. Not a huge bet and not too short-dated.

Jim Dalrymple "Nope" to new iPads on September 10. Not surprised by that declaration.

A close EXACTLY in the middle of the intraday range. Would this point towards more sideways action in the near term?

In my uneducated, sometimes senile, opinion, sellers aren't selling. And the large funds aren't buying, sitting on their hands until Apple announces the event or waiting on the actual announcements during the event. At 10 million shares trading hands seems the algorithms are fighting it out.
Though AAPL did top the list of Selling on Strength. Of those stocks that were up ~$174 million were exchaned hands in block trades on a down tick - $0 on up ticks. Not in block trades $1.61 Billion on up ticks & $1.77 Billion on down ticks or over 10 Xs the $ volume not in block trades either up or down ticks.

Don't worry about it, they're just moving it around in a circle, waiting until the US Military finishes wacking Syria (sometime this weekend?). Then they'll have their new waterfront property for their new gas station. Then, we'll resume resume the climb in Sept, probably just BEFORE and official announcement from Apple. p.s. sorry Mav, I made a time mistake, our blog is an hour ahead or Eastern Time. But it's a telling observation though.

I picked up a Macbook Air--the 11-inch model--over the weekend and it is simply unbelievable. At first I thought the small footprint would be too tiny, but after using it this week, it is one of the best buys of Apple stuff I've ever gotten--$950. It's really fast, and, best for me, it has the regular OS instead of the iOS, so it's like having an iPad with the regular Apple operating system since I need programs that only work on a regular Apple OS. I bought it from B&H PHoto in NYC and they threw in Parallels for free, no tax, no shipping fee.
Anyway, if you are looking for a new Apple laptop that's really small, really light, really powerful, check them out. Mine is about half the weight of a MacBook Pro Retina. The Retina has an amazing screen, but if you need portability, Mac Air is hard to beat. As a longtime Mac owner (since 1988), I'm really impressed!! It is as light as some of the keyboards I've owned! Bravo Apple!!

We don't need surprises, just strong products.
I'm sure the iPhone event will be plenty entertaining enough. Schiller's Mac Pro zinger was a classic.

Anybody using T-Mobile for their iPhone? I've been with ATT since the first day the iPhone came out. I'm responsible for about a dozen iPhone sales and another 5 iPad data p[lans. I'm having a signal problem at my house (caused by location of their tower) and to fix it (signal booster) ATT wants $240.00. Fine, I'll move at least 4 accounts somewhere else. Let me know.
