Why can't TC appear at US event via satellite/facetime/skype from China?
Could even be prerecorded.
Craig F & Phil S and the rest of the team are plenty capable of handling US event especially if Ive does the product intro

Nope. Sept 10th event ends at 12pm. Add 13 hours flight time. Add time difference 15 hours. Tim would arrive Sept. 11 @ 4pm. you are forgetting that apple has a proprietary tunnel that goes straight through the earth and lands you in china, or vice-versa, in two hours. Also getting serious, my hedgefund buddy sent me that panjiva link about the tv this morning, and they seem to be in-line with the suggestions of a tv announcement. panjiva.com/blog/2013/09/03/its-not-an-iphone

At this point, I've given up on Ive doing a live intro. He doesn't need to anymore than Mansfield does. And Ive actually did do an intro at least once unlike Mansfield (explaining the MacBook Pro aluminum unibody system at the Apple Town Hall)

we'll know later today, but even if they do, i doubt samsung will be ready to ship the note 3 before apple is shipping their iphone/ipad.

It's not who's first, it's who's best.
Cough Atrix scanner cough
Also, I bet Apple will get sued between 2 weeks and 2 years from now for "patent infringement" based on its own IP and that of Authentec. That and/or the usual anonymous attempt to invalidate said IP. All of the best legal minds and all the $$ in the world won't stop that.

It's not who's first, it's who's best. Cough Atrix scanner cough While I agree, Mav, Wall St. seems to have rather a lesser view of Apple's differentiating tech... Still, the rumor hasn't slowed us down today so far. To quote Red: Ad Astra!

Cupertino time: 10:00 AM Tuesday September 10 Beijing equivalent time: 1:00 AM Wednesday September 11 Whatever is announced in China, we won't hear about it until after dinner Tuesday evening (PST). Beijing time: 10:00 AM Wednesday September 11 Cupertino equivalent time: 7:00 PM Tuesday September 10 It would be interesting to see if TC can make it to both events. If China Mobile deal is announced in Beijing, it makes sense for TC to be there. How long does it take to fly from San Francisco to Beijing by private jet? There's time, but it would depend on the China start time and most certainly would be tight.

The differences in Samsung's fingerprint reader, and what Apple's patents indicate it is developing are enormous, starting with reader accuracy.

WOW, what happened to the importance of a 5" screen? That's smaller than the original iPhone screen.

Let me tell you from personal experience, once you've transported, you never go back! I have my own personal experience with transport but it would take this thread OT if I mentioned it here. If you want to know, just IM me and I'll send you a link.

WOW, what happened to the importance of a 5" screen? That's smaller than the original iPhone screen. Folding twice is brilliant, but why stop there? If it folded 4 times, both length wise and width wise, it could open up into a huge screen. Then there could be a full size keyboard on the back. and you could have a cup holder for coffee built in, but the coffee would spill when you turn it over to see the screen, so there would have to be some kind of swivel device to keep the coffee upright. Apple definitely needs to get in front of this. Hey, what about 8?

To be fair, none of us know how good Samsung's fingerprint reader will be. It's probably likely Apple does it better but I'm not assuming anything. To be fair there are only two types of fingerprint reader available for commercial use. The first reads the surface of the finger. The second (owned by Apple) reads the living tissue layer beneath the surface. The first is subject to body oil and other contaminants, and to the condition of the finger surface. The second (coupled with Apple's patented manufacturing process of the reader) is not. If Apple was aggressive in protecting its other iPhone patents, it will go ballistic if Samsung copies these patented technologies. Since Motorola tried to implement fingerprint recognition a few years back (and failed) there has been little, if any, improvement in technologies available to Samsung. Until Apple's patented manufacturing process, readers had to be cleaned daily, and even then (because they came into direct contact with the print to be read) failed after 3 - 6 months (abrasion). Apple's patented manufacturing process inserts a protective layer between the print to be read and the reader, without loss of reading accuracy. Reading the living tissue layer increases accuracy far beyond reading skin surface. No. Samsung's effort will not be as good as Apple's, not without creating a superior reader technology and manufacturing process, evidence of which are non-existent at this time.

I think the China event will come across as a very smart move because the 'sell-the-news' drop might not happen on the 10th with hopes that there's big news coming out of China soon. And if that news is in fact big, then the pop in AAPL will continue well beyond the $500 barrier.

I have found that asking questions about upcoming Apple products to employees of Apple retailers (other than Apple store employees) often gives me interesting answers.
At a Sam's club today, I asked an cell phone employee if he had any 5c iPhones?
He said:
It will be in within two days of introduction next week with multiple colors at an attractive price point. It will only be available in 8GB.
His club is currently out of iPhone 5. They don't want to have any of the old iPhones in stock.
FWIW!

And if that news is in fact big, then the pop in AAPL will continue well beyond the $500 barrier. Just thinking out loud, AAPL's intraday high the day of January Earnings/Conference Call was $515. If there is a barrier to be crossed, in my opinion, that is the one. I can see AAPL trading between $500 and $515 between now and October Earnings.
