To heck with the monkey!
Mercel, got the launchpad prepped?
AAPL looking interesting in way-too-early pre-market. I'm looking for signs of a channel breakout over the next couple weeks.

I can't tweet the author back. Not yet. At least two problems. Quotes ZABITSKY. Ignores iPhone subscribers already on China Mobile network plodding along on EDGE data. Maybe I'll say something depending on next week. In case you were wondering - Bloomberg article. bloom.bg/1dIlERK

No comment red. So appledoc, you in with a trade? I felt like I had to get involved today. I got blindsided by the parallel event invites like everyone else, but hey, at least AAPL's still under 500. Oh yeah. Almost all-in with commons and those Jan 15 700/800 BCS. Ready to bail if need be, but I like how things are lining up here.

I don't get why he says a sub $400 phone would sell less in the U.S. First, Apple sells off contract. Secondly, do customers pay that kind of attention, that underneath the subsidy they're getting a $350 phone vs. $450 handset? Sure seems like the carrier would like it.

Not sure you're optimistic here, unless it's TA-related stuff. We're sure not getting any lift this morning, and I don't understand why Berlin was added to the list of China and Japan.

I'm assuming that Berlin has simply substituted the media presentation that traditionally occurred in London. They have a big new store in Berlin with a theatre.

silly question but...why is it so hard to break $500 (and leave it in the dust)? Didn't we go right through it on our way down? ):

If these are the colors of the new plastic iPhone, I find them an interesting choice: ben-evans.com/benedictevans/2013/9/5/the-price-of-the-5cI personally don't find the colors attractive, but as an older American male, I am probably not the target market. I wondered if the colors might be more appropriate to Chinese culture, so I googled "trendy Chinese colors," and came up with a couple of links that might indicate that the colors are intended for the Chinese market: goo.gl/RzKH9mand goo.gl/DALRjiNotice that there is a pretty good match between the colors of the plastic iPhone and what is trendy among the young in China now. So, the question is, will the iPhone 5c be sold in the same colors everywhere, or will it even be sold in the USA, where Apple has excellent market penetration without resorting to a lower cost phone?

Trusted Guidance is King in investing. I think WS believes AAPL is undervalued, but is waiting for Apple management to confirm it with updated Guidance in October. Until then AAPL isn't going to do much beyond $500. That said, the September 10 event could provide the kind of evidence that WS needs to climb onboard at higher prices. After the big drop we should take heart in the fact that AAPL's trend line for the past 2 months has been up.

If Apple announces that 5C won't be sold here and is only for the Chinese market, we'll witness one big selloff.

It would be nice if AAPL either dropped or popped so investors could either buy or sell. Instead AAPL is just coasting along fluctuating in 25 dollar range.

This should brighten everyone's day.
But only in China.
Er...no, dreamRaj.
In retrospect I could have gotten a better cost basis. Then again, my trade doesn't expire in Sep/Oct. I can wait a little while.

When the weekly call buyers go BK, Apple has a better chance to go up. It is frustrating to see the magnet at work again today.....or is it a tractor beam? Well...either way it is frustrating. We are getting no pre-event run up. So maybe we get no "sell the news" --who the F knows. I'm confident that Apple will have a solid event, but I have little confidence in the market's response to it. Who would have thought a year ago, on the eve of new iPhones and the prospect of CM and DoCoMo deals that we'd struggle with $500. I am glad to see the fingerprint sensor is very likely coming after part leaks, along with everything else. I have zero options that expire this year and anyone to trade them short term is crazy or likes losing money.

Nice to see that DoCoMo news is moving the needle....not. I guess Apple really does need to invent the iTransporter for anyone to pay attention.

I can't tweet the author back. Not yet. At least two problems. Quotes ZABITSKY. I get sensationalist CNBC trotting out Zabitsky for their absurd try to restore ratings, but I would expect better from Bloomberg. Quoting someone who has never been right? Seriously? How about I get a monkey to throw darts at random words, just about as informative.

Mav's scoop, but here's a follow up from Seeking Alpha abstract:
Nikkei: NTT DoCoMo to offer iPhone as soon as this fall • 2:25 PM
The Japanese paper says DoCoMo (DCM +1.1%) is likely to announce a partnership with Apple (AAPL -0.8%) on the day of its iPhone launch. Apple has announced an iPhone satellite event will take place in Tokyo (along with ones in Beijing and Berlin) hours after its main Sep. 10 event in Cupertino. A DoCoMo EVP suggested last month a deal could be close. Previous talks between Apple and DoCoMo reportedly faltered due to Apple's purchase requirements and DoCoMo's insistence on pre-installing some of its apps. DoCoMo, by far Japan's largest carrier (60M+ subs, 1/4 of which are now using 4G phones), has been losing share to SoftBank (SFTBF.PK) and KDDI in large part due to its failure to carry the iPhone. Though DoCoMo's sub base is much smaller than China Mobile's 740M, a much larger portion of it can afford a $450+ (unsubsidized) phone. Japan is the iPhone's strongest international market. Thanks largely to iPhone sales, Apple's Japanese revenue rose 27% Y/Y in FQ3 to $2.5B, even as revenue fell 14% in Greater China and 18% in the rest of Asia-Pac.

I am excited for the launch 1 for the new phones to be out so I can buy one and 2 to add some volatility to this stock. It is just plain boring the past 15 or so sessions. I want to see some movement of signifigance either way is fine with me just something.

I'm confident that Apple will have a solid event, but I have little confidence in the market's response to it. You can't really blame the Street if they can't recognize paradigm shifts, or at the minimum, the potential in supposed competitors or Apple's products. These are finance people, not marketing types. Generally speaking finance types are conservative, and they aren't likely to get excited about something they don't truly understand. Buffett is a great example of this. He admits to not having a clue about technology. From that I believe he means he doesn't understand how it is monetized. So he stays away from it, and puts his money where he does understand the business models. Add WS's lack of understanding, the lack of any real insight into what is going to be announced AND APPLE'S PERFORMANCE OF THE PAST YEAR, and you get deer in the headlights. WS really needs to be told what the future foretells, and that is Guidance. On September 10, and more importantly, October 23 the future will be shown to us all, until then its channel trading.
