There is no explanation for WS -- don't put it on Apple, not while AMZN and GOOG are in orbit. Now let the lines start for Sept. 20th, when the rumored new iPhones are rumored to become first available. Unbelievable they're starting this early. That's consumer sentiment, never mind the talking heads who look the other way. bgr.com/2013/09/06/iphone-5s-5c-launch-lines/Sort of and sort of not. Pricing for AMZN and GOOG, are in orbit but they have one thing Apple does not. Unquestioned dominance in their core businesses. Neither of these companies have a viable competitor in those cores. Apple is seen to have multiple and very serious threats to its market share and growth. Starting with Android and Samsung and them damage they have done. Who is Amazon's or Google's Samsung?

AAPL closed at 498.50 on August 13. With all the positive stories over the past two weeks, nada. If this is "buy the rumor," then what the heck is "sell the news" going to look like on September 10? Maybe this time is/will be different? Why Apple may get a bigger bump from event than expectedSorry in advance for CNBC link, but it is a positive story. It's not like it's a video with Melissa Retard in it. I am already excited about Monday and Tuesday...forget OpEx Friday...

Apple could go for zero profit and dominate their industry that way a la Amazon...
The truth lies somewhere in the middle. The market is certainly efficient but that doesn't mean it can't be predicted or explained at least semi-accurately.

Be careful with advice when none of us foresee or control how the market and/or Apple will behave in a six month time frame. Especially after what we have seen over the past year.

Posted the following before I realized Thursday had not been closed.
Doing some crude extrapolation (incomplete starting data) and assuming that the new iPhones will ship day/date with the US, we could see Greater China (including China Mobile) December quarter iPhone unit sales increase QoQ by ~4,000,000 units. Three million of those units are not included in my current iPhone

(from the hidden in plain sight file)... Relaaaax you guys. It's as rigged as a Chicago Election, where the phrase 'vote early and often' originated. What's going on is so obvious and simple, we're all missing it. It's called 'keeping the stock price down until they're finished the stock buyback'. After that... to the moon Alice, to the moon!

Just wanted to say, what's with all the Gloomy Gus's?
As the article I linked above alludes to, I think we will get a massive, possibly 8-figure 5S sell into the last 10 days of this quarter, and as Gregg suggests, a thermonuclear December Q with Asia.
I think this is a buying opp.
It's 30 minutes to closing, Gordon. What do you want to do? Decide.

Bud: You are the most patient man on the board. Please do not lose faith now. I am convinced you will be rewarded. AAPL will be much higher in the next 6 months. Thanks for the support I am not worried, just cautious. If we drop, I get to buy back the covered calls and pocket about 30K. If we go up, even better, I can ride it to 590 before they are called. And in the meantime, the dividends cover the cost of the position. I think a lot of commentary and opinions are based on myths like the Efficient Market Hypothesis. There have been some interesting investigations of this using systems dynamics that offer new insights. The effects of momentum trading seem to overwhelm fundamental and noise investors. Here is a paper I have linked to before that discusses this. It is worth checking out some of the papers in it's bibliography as well: www.systemdynamics.org/conferences/2007/proceed/papers/WEITE454.pdfI am unconvinced by the arguments that Apples lack of dominance justifies a low P/E. Even if it were a valid point that the phone market was reaching an inflection point and that competition was a threat, the P/E discounts any future new product categories. It is like arguing that Apple was over when the iPod market began to level off, and missing the possibility of iPhones or iPads.

Let the rumors rage over the weekend..and then on Tuesday, worldwide, it all comes to pass.....

This should cause great concern for Samsung as well. Gone is their "leverage" to use FRAND to gain access to Apple's proprietary IP. I certainly hope that the DOJ is paying attention.

Putin said Russia would come to Syria's aid if attacked. So the market tanked. He didn't specify, as far as I know, what the aid would entail. Woofing. Russia is a toothless tiger. There are to many interests (nation States) that want a new government in Syria, and it has nothing to do with human rights or WMD. Currently Europe is virtually entirely dependent on Russian natural gas. Natural gas producers Qatar and Saudi Arabia are unable to economically address the European market without a natural gas pipeline to Turkey. Syria sits astride the only overland route for such a pipeline, and is refusing access. Syria is an ally/puppet State of Russia. Russia does not want this pipeline because of the revenue it would take away from Russian sales of natural gas. So, on one hand you have Russia and Syria (not the most popular of Countries), and on the other you have France, Portugal, Greece, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and possibly Czechoslovakia. Any US involvement in Syria will be limited to providing air cover for European intervention. Russia will howl, but there isn't anything they can do about it. That's what happens when you have a monopoly and price accordingly.

Nice looking candle on the daily. Believe thats called a "Doji". My layman interpretation is that from a short term bullish perspective I have to agree with you on the niceness of the looks of the candle.

Would be awesome if true. This might just be the time we have been waiting for... Amazing how AAPL just floats above 500 in the PM, after bouncing off of it the last two days.

Believe it when ya see it, I think.
If not the announcement, those initial sales.
If not those initial sales, quarterly numbers, trends and guidance.
You know the drill by now...
