Up $3 in very early PM. Index futures solid Green.
Thankfully immediate Syria issues might be gone for the moment, So AAPL might be free to run today without any broad market decline.
Good luck to all.

I won't lie, I may sell my swing trade if I'm quick enough to notice some WS disappointment during the event. Translation: I'll never catch it in time, my best bet is to adjust before the event. ;D
No intervention in Syria looking highly likely right now, and however one may feel about that, you know WS likes this approach. And WS has buoyed AAPL, so far.

Just wanted to wish all the longs good luck today...although I believe tomorrow will be equally important. Do we know if this will be streamed on AAPL TV yet? Would love to watch it!
By the way, the vote in Congress on Syria has been officially postponed while the Administration discusses the Russian proposal - so as Mav said, looks less likely the US engages with Syria - everyone saves the proverbial "face" - which equals a positive for our market.

Market reaction to a 5c priced above $400 will be interesting. After all my reading, I think it's going to be $450+
Hell, even Gene Munster is pushing for a sub $400 iPhone. I'm not sure we'll get it and it could be that new carrier deals will test Apple's ability to meet demand even without a low-priced offering.
I'm fine with $450. More than that and even Gene will sound like an emasculated bull.

Syria agrees to Russian proposal. Broad market futures up a bill.

Syria agrees to Russian proposal. Broad market futures up a bill. So the Prez speaks at 9:00 p.m. EST tonight...would be great if he says that the US agrees during that speech as well but I am not holding my breath that things will resolve themselves that quickly...I guess we'll see. I think that if he says that the US agrees to the proposal as is but any breach from it would change our view and potential action would be a big positive for the markets....and it does seem to be going that way.

I seem to remember that live streaming of the last Apple product unveiling did not become public knowledge until just before the start of the event.

Actually there are some sites that will carry a live stream in the event that AAPL does not but I am assuming they will.

I'm stoked. Lets get it on.
Today marks the day Apple puts the pieces together in fascinating new and profitable ways. The impact of "the silver ring" will be iconic. I wish I could do the new Apple TV commercials highlighting the 5s and the ease, security and power of the silver ring coupled with iOS 7 capabilities. Developers will quickly build on what Apple provides. Very exciting.
A 450 buck 5c should not put off Wall Street. Look at the iPad mini vs. all those crappy windows 8 tablets. Access to the Apple ecosystem, the QUALITY BUILD of the handset, cannot and should not be too inexpensive.
Personally, I'd like to see $400-425 but $450 will work. Now, if Apple decides it wants market share as the primary focus and goes at $350 or less......wall street might love it but doesn't work here in the subsidized market. Leaves money on the table....
Fascinating day ahead...

Underwhelming PM action. I think WS knows of a higher price point for the 5c and is waiting to scoop up AAPL on the news. That could also be why we've not have any Sept. anticipation rally. Just a WAG. It won't matter in the next 2-3 weeks when the analysts are proven wrong. Again.

It's sell the news! (even though the news hasn't been released yet). Come on people, we all know how this goes. WS will be disappointed as usual. It won't be until a few days or weeks later when the masses start buying the 5c and 5s in droves that we'll recover. We've been through this a million times....

Tomorrows China Event IMHO could cause the bigger positive reaction rather than todays announcement. Today is predictable. The only unknowns is models being sold ie which phones are they dropping the 5, 4S or 4. And 5C pricing. Thats it.

Beijing is 15 hours ahead of us. 12 Noon (conclusion of Apple's event) is 3am in Beijing, Sept.11. I can't find the time for it, but I think both announcements happen today in our time zone. Maybe 6-7pm PST?

I don't think they'll have a live stream in case if any demonstration flops with iOS7 or the fingerprint scanner. Any other company could get away with it but Apple would be skewered. When was the last time an iPhone launch was streamed live? Has it ever?

I see Gizmodo is back to live blogging the event. It would be great if Apple decided to live stream this one -- making Brian Barrett have an Admiral Stockdale moment, as in "why am I here..."

And what does the alleged fingerprint sensor actually do? What is the roll out plan for what carriers get the product when? What do 5C owners not get compared to the 5S?

Maybe the dip this morning was due to Apple not being included in the DJ Average.

Just checked my Apple TV and I don't see any Apple events , if they plan on streaming the event there would definitely be a link. Maybe they will add on in the next few minutes ... I'll keep checking and if I see something I'll post a heads up.
Good luck to all the longs .... : )
