Well, I said it was conservative. But remember, the BIG difference is those 2M pre orders in the first 24 hours last year were counted as sales in the 5M #. THAT won't happen this year because pre orders of the 5s won't be delivered until after this weekend.
WS won't allow Apple to make such distinctions, however, so I'm thinking 7M+ is the base line #. If Apple comes up short, they can dress up the # with a pre order # not counted in the sales figure.
In other words, report sales and pre orders not delivered for 10M for both models.
Apple isn't going to go out of its way to please WS but they sure as hell don't want to disappoint it either. I think Apple is more sensitive to WS expectations more than they have in recent memory.

I downloaded the iPhone5 & my iPad3 simultaneously by wifi a bit after 10 AM ...went relatively quickly.
"lack" of transparency may have to do with one's wallpaper...it "likes" blues and reds more than greens for background.
I think the iP5 keypad seems lots more user friendly...
any apps that have frozen I simply delete and re download. Siri sounds like she's been culturally perfected. I'm thrilled with it all. Always a good idea to go thru all the settings on one's devices and make sure they are compatible with your needs/wishes. and doc, maybe your settings on iMessage need updating...I had to change mine on both devices.

The best improvement I have found with ios7 is Maps. Maps are actually an option now instead of google maps. Why no iTunes Radio for Canada? CanCon?

It is slower on my 5. They need to improve calendar views. It will take time to get used to. Typing seems a little harder with smaller keyboard fonts. Spongie, you either have a defective iPhone or you're holding it wrong ;D I did a clean install with iOS7 on my 4s. It seems more responsive than before. I had thought iOS7 was just an appearance upgrade, but I am finding these little usability improvements make my iPhone seem much more enjoyable to use. I don't transparency, so I now turned that off.

Funny. Supposedly there's an "over/under" on a Apple moving a baseline of 7.75M iPhones in the initial weekend of sales.
Also funny: A BusinessInsider columnist is "taking the under". Well of course you would, feeling as confident as you must feel about production constraints on the 5S.

All the analysis by the pundits gives me the image of a group of third graders learning arithmetic giving advice to a Harvard math professor.

Update: Just knocked out the move to ios 7 in just about an hour. Perhaps things are cranking better on the servers. Went thru itunes for update rather than over wi-fi directly to the iPhone, so that may have been the difference. Looks great! I gave up going direct. Went iTunes and had iPhone 5 and iPad 3 up and running within an hour. We're going to hear tales of woe tomorrow about something. Everyone gets time on the soapbox with the internet. Overall I really like the look and feel, especially the keyboard. Playing with multi finger gestures. Once they become second nature, navigation will speed up a bunch. Feels faster. Can't wait to see full benefit of 64 bit LOVE THE PROGRESS BAR IN SAFARI
