The new iPhones launches internationally today. KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo: appleinsider.com/articles/13/09/19/apple-could-sell-up-to-8m-iphone-5s-and-5c-units-over-launch-weekend-analyst-says?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter"In fact, Kuo said in a note to investors on Wednesday that Apple will likely ship 6 to 8 million new iPhones over the devices' first weekend of sales. By comparison, Apple racked up 5 million sales when the iPhone 5 debuted last year. Earlier in the day, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster forecast 5 to 6 million unit sales, a more conservative number based on the prior model's in-store launch sales. Kuo believes Apple won't show its hand until the launch weekend is over, combining total iPhone 5s and 5c sales into one number. In 2012, the company used a similar tactic for the fourth-generation iPad and iPad mini." That last bit about the combined iPad 4 & iPad mini launch sales is a good point.

The thing the public always forgets is that AAPL does not count it as a sale until it is in the hands of the consumer. I need to sign for it with the UPS man before it is incorporated as a sale because it is at that point in time that there is a legal transfer of ownership. There are many companies that word things differently and as soon as your credit card is charged and the item is shipped, they call it a sale. If AAPL is going to hold to the letter of the law on their calculations...I wish they would give us a category of sales and then classify the others as having orders for X amount....or something like that. I fear expectations are getting very lofty (at this point it seems anything under 7 million would not be positive). Again, this company is always held to higher standards. I guess we will know soon enough.

Then there is this… Play StoreIt does seem strange that all those people who love Android seem to want to have the look and feel of iOS 7...

iOS 7 is a big hit, if only judging by the number of people talking about it at work last night. We're about to start a nice run here.

Read about the potential lag time to update iOS, so started the update before I went to bed and woke up with it done. Visual/design-wise: I like the keyboard. I don't like the new, borderless icons and other new, borderless buttons and tabs and the such, but I'll live.

We have storms here in West Michigan this morning and the Lightning effect when looking at the weather forecast in ios 7 is amazing.
Overall it looks pretty swell for a company that doesn't 't innovate anymore.

Updated to iOS 7 on my mini and iPhone 5. So far, dislike it. Too much white, keyboard seems smaller, too much zooming in and out. Originally objected to the cartoon icons, but I can see this growing on me, maybe. Hopeful that the new features will make up for the rest.
Anyway, it's getting a positive reception - given the choice I'd rather have an inferior product and a superior share price than the reverse.

Just a quick note for any other developers & early -ahem- adopters of iOS7. Swing by Apple to download the current version of iTunes, then re-restore your iDevices to get the latest and greatest. There were a couple features missing from the (supposed) GM release last week, mostly interface things. I've noticed the battery life issues from last week are starting to go away as the App developers release iOS7 compatible versions.
Sold some shares a couple days ago to cover bills. Too bad they couldn't wait until today! Roll on, Apple Barrel!

Got the Cramer bump in AH last night and PM follow-through this AM. It was actually pretty incredible to hear him say he thinks the new iPhones and iOS 7 are going to lift earnings and share price significantly higher. Just a few months ago, I remember him saying Apple wasn't cool anymore and was dead money.
iOS 7 is a runaway hit on my social media pages this morning, and the even bigger story is iTunes Radio. Huge game changer.
If AAPL can get big sales numbers this weekend, this stock is well on its way much, much higher.

Final IOS7 and GM have the same build number so there should be no differences. Roger that, restoring now. Differences might be due to my iPhone being a 4S. Will check it out. Basically negligible. I've noticed in the past that over-the-air updates don't work going forward from a developer release, even a GM with the same build number. Always had to restore back into the "consumer" version first, then flawless. Again, maybe just operator error...

I am going to try to use the graphs to determine 5s and 5c activations. OTOH: If there are 700 million? IOS devices, will 5-8 million new devices show up as a significant number? Answer: no.

Online sales start in 2 hours in Asia. Wait for that and that sellout glory.
The android arguments are starting to sound like my it director who hates apple. He spent 5 years training in certified msft ninja training (or whatever it's called).

I can't understand why Pandora stock is rising thru all this??? Because iTunes Radio is only available in the US. As numerous UK friends have been bitching about all morning.

There is going to be a storm of apps being updated in the next few weeks. I haven't actually finished the update on mine, I'm a slacker....
