Years ago we had the AFB Flying Pig award for idiot analysts. Is it time for the AFB Inflated Mashmallow award for self-important deluded 'journalists'?

I was part of something similar at the old AFB. I think the best course of action with the deluded ones is to completely ignore them and do nothing to drive page hits in their direction. They WANT attention, even from haters.

Personal Pickup is live! Keeping the pedal to the metal. This is so convenient. I ordered my 5s on my Apple Store app this morning, ready for pickup already. So much better than having to wait in line, or wait for shipping.

SG is idiotic. 4S sales will come, or not. CM may well start out with only "new" iPhones., though the way this company's going, I wouldn't 100% rule out reengineering of the 4S to add TD–SCDMA. Does seem very unlikely though given the probable demand and the 5C dropping to the 4S tier next year. The way I understand it, both the 5S and 5C support TD-SCDMA right now. The hold up seems to be carrier network licenses from MITI (as it is known in China) for TD-LTE.

Just purchased my second song from iTunes Radio. So easy! Just click buy button on top right and it downloads. Great innovation from Apple!

Which may be why there's a rumored China Mobile promo poster being made that advertises iPhone 5S/5C on the existing "3G" network... Yes Appleinsider (sorry about that miss on TSMC), but... appleinsider.com/articles/13/09/23/rumor-china-mobile-begins-producing-advertising-collateral-for-iphone-5c-5s

From PED:
Gene Munster, Piper Jaffray: Breaking Down The 9 Million Units. We believe that based on the 9 million number and our observations of weekend sales, the mix may have been around 4 million 5S units and 1.5 million 5C units sold-through (3.5 million sell-in). In our 5-6 million unit sell-through estimate, we had assumed 2.5 million units of the 5S and 3.5 million units of the 5C. The channel fill we are assuming from the 5C was not in our expectations. In terms of 5C channel fill, we note that currently the iPhone 5C is available on the online Apple Store with a 24 hour lead time. We believe this implies that the company has near-full channel inventory of the 5C. Based on the 11 million total iPhones available in channel inventory as of the June quarter, we believe this implies that 5C could be 3-4 million units.” $640. Overweight.

Surface trying to compete for...DJ business?
Oh wow. Maybe I'll short MSFT just "for fun". They are completely rudderless.

Blackberry sold? Trading halted again....$9/share is the rumor Fairfax Financial. $9 per share. $4.7B. FairFax is primarily an Insurance Investor.

You have some kind of self-torture fetish? Why go anywhere near CNBC? It lasted 3 minutes. CNBC's ratings are down for a reason, largely because the show is a bunch of fluff and lacks credibility. Can you imagine if the hosts started holding its guests to some accountability? Mix in a little "Meet the Press," in your face interviews and CNBC's credibility and viewership would soar. Right now, CNBC is just a bag of marshmallows. CNBC is a propaganda organ. They are owned by Comcast, a competitor of Apple. They are beholden to and part of the Wall Street/WashingtonDC Masters of the Universe Cabal. If one chooses to watch it, fine. But please have consideration for those of us who don't.

GM has been SO WRONG lately, wake me up when he starts getting things consistently right... Come on Gene, let Apple have its day in the sun. Shut your trap on the channel fill already. You messed up, overlooking the impact of channel fill. He's defending his poor predictions here, but it's unseemly to see a bull take a bath in a vat of warm, sweet honey that tempts the bears out for a romp.

I was at a Verizon store yesterday where I witnessed how much the kids might love the 5C: 'C' is for 'Colors'. A 16-17 year old was holding a green 5C in his hand and seemed adamant to get that color only. I heard his parents telling him "Why don't you at least take a look at the white one or the silver 5S" but he said "Nope, I don't want them. I want this green one". Seems like Apple has created a great alternative to the 5S, and at $100 cheaper.
Good times ahead!

No idea if I'll trade, but as an AAPL bull from before friggin' 447, I'm feeling a bit better than I was. ;D

Had occasion to speak with a friend (owner of a mid-western GM new car dealership) today (no, I'm not shopping cars, I need a favor in May). In passing I asked how busy they were.
"2013 is going to be a record year for us".

I think we another pro gap day. Maybe. Speaking for myself only here Mav, but could you be a little more descripive/coherent? I have no idea what that means. And I wouldn't bother if you posted less frequently, but since your posts makeup close to all other posts combined here, I would like to ask that you be more considerate to those who don't get all the lingo and innuendos.

I know, I'm quite the inconsiderate blowhard aren't I. (Dates back to AFB1 years and years ago I guess.)
Lingo - take it up with iPad. Innuendo - well, guess you had a problem with Eric too. (So did I.)
I would add, I'm 15% of all posts here, which only seems like 50% if you pronounce it a certain way. If you want to call that Mav Finance Board, that's fine - you can take that up with management as well.

Oh, right, pro gap. Trader-speak for "a gap up that holds and may indicate higher prices; a day to take notice; a power move that favors bulls". See also: Breakaway gap, gap-and-go. Bear in mind that while I understand the term and its syntax, you're asking me to define something that iPad and other more experienced technical traders are much better qualified to define.

It feels FAR from cheap plastic. very sleek looking and feels great. he's trying to get a clear rubber case so that his cool blue doesn't get covered up lol. for $79 at walmart- can't beat that.

Btw sponge - good to see your portfolio's looking much better! As someone who bought in right BEFORE the 10% haircut, I'm feeling considerably more optimistic heading into earnings.
terps, no 5S? Dad didn't think he needed the power/features?

terps, no 5S? Dad didn't think he needed the power/features? he's not that tech-savvy, and for him he doesn't need much. the 5C from an 8gb iphone 4 is a plenty of an upgrade for him haha. he's like a kid and is most excited about the blue color. nice little wake-up here as we are powering back up 490+ woo woo

I'd buy blue if I were in the market for a 5C but we may be surprised by how many guys end up with the watermelon color. ;D Looked at one and almost immediately thought "Jolly Rancher". I believe you mean "OH YEAHHH"

I looked at the new Surface tablet. Is Microsoft so obtuse that they can't see what's wrong with these devices? The RT 2 is DOA. The Pro is serving as a laptop that requires a flat surface to utilize the keyboard. And the screen size is much too small to use Excel. At the price point of the Pro, people are MUCH better off with an ultra book (or better yet, a MBA).
Aesthetically, they're not very attractive, in black, white or pink (that's in the next version I'm sure, if there is one, which I highly doubt).
They're brain dead over there. And Steve Jobs is still right: Microsoft has no taste.
