4). We know 128 gig models are margin sweet. I've been wondering about this. Since they charge $100 for each doubling of flash memory size, I'm not sure if this is true. 16GB => 32GB, Apple buys 16GB and sells it for an extra $100. 32GB => 64GB, Apple buys 32GB and sells it for an extra $100. 64GB => 128GB, Apple buys 64GB and sells it for an extra $100. So, all else being equal, maybe the 32GB model has the highest margins because of the best relationship between extra memory and the price fetched for it. Of course, all else is rarely equal, they may use different density chips in each model with different pricing.

I get that part. It could also be that there's more than enough points of sale and distribution internationally that Apple can move huge quantities without needing a bunch of ship-to-door stuff right off the bat. Might actually save Apple a bit on freight?

All of my interactions with Apple of late point exactly in that direction. They want to get people into the stores.
When I ordered my iPad Air at midnight I spent several minutes stumbling around the site/cart looking for the place to add AppleCare+. the only option was store pick up.
I have had major glitch issues over the last couple of months following a big storm . Apple has been great but with every interaction I had to explain and re explain that taking my Airport Express, iMac, iPhone/Pad into the closest store really wasn't an option.
I did learn some interesting things in this process. Apple has contracted with a company called WWT that offers in home service wherever one is located . It took a few days for the closest tech working under that contract to come to where I live, but he replaced the mother board in my late 2012 iMac. A replacement Airport express was shipped here and I sent back the malfunctioning one. 2 teams of techs and engineers worked for a couple of weeks in communication with me to help sort out why my devices only located out of state.
the 2 senior level techs who eventually resolved all the issues called back a few days after each issue was resolved to make sure the fix, as it were, had held. Amazing service.
I've not purchased Apple Care for my previous iPads but this time around I decided better safe than sorry.
the public utility district replaced the transformer on my property and my only out of pocket costs were for a BEC router and some cables.
Anyhow, Apple clearly wants everyone in the stores scoping out all the accessories and new devices. Good marketing strategy .

Any one research how well the ipad air is re selling on ebay? I'm guessing 128 are pretty hot since the rumored lack of supply. Maybe higher re sells of mini end of month.

Oh my. On the one hand I think: Woe to the people in the iPad Air launch countries bidding on these max-capacity iPads. Look at the supply trends! There should be more if you can wait like a week! Remember, it's not selling out. This is the "iPad nobody really wants". On the other hand, as an AAPL bull? ;D ;D

Maybe higher re sells of mini end of month. iPad mini retina demand could be absolutely insane. Just to be safe, here's hoping Apple makes enough. Which is to say more than that ridiculous 2M in the holiday quarter I keep hearing.

I think we do get a pre- market announcement tomorrow. The sales are just too good. And it would set the stage for the mini weekend to come.
I think 3.4 million

But isn't that "disappointing"?
It's a weird compare of course. Last year brought 3M of sales NOT including China and only Wi-Fi iPads, but both iPad _and_ iPad mini.
Feels like a "4M+ or crickets" kinda situation (unless there's some "context" behind an initial sales number). But hey, beats me.

In fact, during the announcement tomorrow is the perfect time to announce the mini launch date....
