W00t! Just got mine delivered to me at the office! That Lightning connector is a heck of a lot smaller than I thought it'd be. I guess all those zoomed in pictures really threw me off. It feels nice and sturdy.

Is there a I Got Mine Thread?
I just got white and black 32G "5's" at Christina Mall in Delaware. About a one hr line at noon. They did not have a white one for me at first but soon did when someone else swapped.
I was only eligible for one upgrade but I consider both phones financed by a $650 monthly put that expires worthless today (I'm on the short side) which I sold during last Wednesdays Apple event.
Wife is thrilled.
No signs of running out of stock at Christiana. Apple staff was excited. As I left, the line was shorter but still at least a 30 minute wait.
I'm looking forward to a nice press release Monday

Is it just me? Why is everytime I get a new Apple product I have a smile on my face. I am not talking about smile on the inside but a physical toothy grin.

Keep it up, iPhone 5 owners! Let us know what we're all missing! (But don't worry. I'm highly likely to give in and buy one myself when I get my early upgrade kinda-subsidy next month.)

Internet searches are faster on the iPhone 5 (Wi-Fi) than on my MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz. Physically it is stunning. I can't believe that Apple is the only firm with the talent to produce something like the iPhone 5, but then maybe they are.

I'm so disappointed with UPS. I had a Sep 21-25 delivery date, so expected it next week. This morning I woke up to an "out for delivery" status at 5am. So I get excited and wait all day. Now I check the status, and UPS has erased the Out for Delivery status and replaced it with a 3:25pm destination scan and no estimated delivery date. I don't know if they made a mistake or if they ran out of time and are covering. Frustrating.

I can't believe that Apple is the only firm with the talent to produce something like the iPhone 5, but then maybe they are. Oh, I can. Maybe it's not so much a matter of "talent". There's geniuses outside of Apple too. But Apple has incredible focus, expertise and experience to go with that talent. No one cares about little details like they do. No one experiments with glass and metal and aluminum like they do. No one is as freakingishly obsessed about product weight and miniaturization like they are. No one has advanced the state of consumer electronics design and fabrication like they have. No one has been blending all that together for as long as they have. Combine that with world-class talent and resources, and you have a hell of a mountain to climb to get where Apple is. More like a volcano - growing taller each eruption, and a treacherous path to fast followers who inevitably end up looking a little too plasticky or a little too...inspired.

Add Operating System expertise to that list, built over decades with the Mac. A huge strategic asset, now that handsets have turned into powerful computing platforms. Even competitors with solid hardware expertise cannot come close to matching Apple on this front. Plus these guys undermine Google's OS efforts with skins and bloatware from the carriers.

This iteration solves my two biggest complaints with the prior generations. It’s now the perfect weight. Heavy enough to feel substantial and light enough to not be dead weight in my pocket. The new connector is TINY! Really, I had no idea even after seeing all the pictures of it on the web. The old connector was huge but felt fragile. This one is tiny and feels substantial. Who knew? My final complaint has yet to be rectified so I’ll continue struggling with whether or not the phone is upside down. The bad news? This is the first time I’ve had a major problem activating an Apple product in 28 years. Seems there is a problem of some kind with my iPhoto library so the phone wouldn’t sync until I unchecked add photo’s. I received an 1140 error and in tracking it down it appears that I’m not alone and that it pre-dates the new phone so really it’s not the phones fault. It’s sad not to have my kids staring back to me when I turn it on. It’s the little things. No known fix at this point in time.

I checked out the iPhone 5 at the local Apple Store today. Random impressions: That phone is crazy light. It really doesn't feel like it's made of what it's made of. Ive performed miracles of aluminum surfacing on the back. This isn't like MacBook or iPad aluminum, it's "lightly textured" enough to slide all the way down a bar table, feels like. It's been finished to a fanatical degree. It does NOT feel quite as solid as the iPhone 4/4S with that bulletproof Ultrasteel(tm) band. There's a tiny feeling of give. But that's a result of reduced mass, thinness, different design and use of aluminum - it's still very solid. The competition will be 15,000 kinds of jealous. I could probably do without a case though I'll get one to protect my precccioussss anyway Chamfering - eh. Surfacing, impressive. Look, it works OK. Performance - doesn't feel like 2x. But the 4S is a robust dual-core phone! The iPhone 5 also has to deal with more pixels and clearly balances speed with power management. But it is a fast phone. STILL not effortless 60+ fps even with simple-vector iMaps - so there's a long, long way to go before heavier/power users find the "perfect" smartphone/whatever. I don't know about startup times because there may have been a little demo stuff loaded on the iPhone. Screen - it won't make you hate your 4/4S display, but it is a nice step up. Vivid, a bit more clear I guess because of the in-cell display, really impressive. Lightning connector - really, really small. A definite space saver. This is gonna be a home run iPhone.

The UI seems to be an improvement though.

I really like the weight. 4 had nice weight which made it feel solid in the hands but always felt like it was pulling my coat, shorts or trousers towards one direction. I would counter balance with keys or take the phone out and set it on a table.
With the 5 its even lighter than a small set of keys, sometimes you even forget that its there. My initial thoughts was then it must be delicate and break easy, but after watching the drop tests apparently it is more durable than the previous versions. Also really like the lightning connector, very solid. With the 30 pin I always felt one jerking tug and it would snap the wafer in the phone or ipad, like all those demo idevices at BestBuy.
Awesome form factor, it is now the perfect phone to me.

Having spent a bit of time with the iP5 now, I can say that -
- the call clarity is much improved, now it's crisp - the speakers are much better and significantly louder - 4G speeds are incredibly fast - and, unfortunately, compared to my iPhone 4, with the screen brightness at 3/4, the battery life is dwindling away faster.
Still, I'd rather have a light phone that's a pleasure to use and hold, than a longer lasting phone that's bigger and heavier.
Edit: Or maybe the Map App is a battery pig right now as that's where I watched the power level drop steadily...

Ted, couple things:
iPhone 4 may be the best battery-life iPhone we get for a while.
Bigger screen, more energy drain (though the new display may use less power). I highly recommend you turn down screen brightness and use auto-brightness if you can. 50% has always been about right for me.

Ted,
----- From what I have read the battery life is same or better all around vs 4 - Point was made that running Maps App is very heavy drain and if used for very long periods can even cause some minimal temp increase------

Thanks for the feedback, guys. 50% brightness is a bit dim for me, Mav, but I've got Auto Brightness on now. I ran the Maps App for about five minutes, Traitor, and lost about 5% in that time. Regardless, I'm a happy iSheep.
Aside: I love reading the posts by Phandroids on sites where iPhone speed tests show the new model kicking butt over the GS3. The excuses and pure fabrications are GRR-reat!

Overall I am very happy. This was a huge upgrade for me. My biggest complaint is with Passbook. There need to be a Passbook Apps category in the App Store. I shouldn't have to manually look up which apps are compatible. And why isn't Starbucks available yet? Kind of a big selling point that I was looking forward to using out of the box.

Run Passbook and it will show you a list of all the compatible apps. Then pick and install the ones you want.
