Interesting. Thanks iPad! Post-earnings I like AAPL's direction . We ALL have a chance at a better buy-in point just as long as AAPL doesn't hit 675 or so on the strength of earnings and/or guidance. Which I find very, very unlikely.

I am so concerned about Apple's earnings that I do not rule out the 200DMA.

I am so concerned about Apple's earnings that I do not rule out the 200DMA. I actually expect us to come very close to it. Sooner or later we will hit it. AAPL cannot continue to stay above that line forever. The fact that AAPL is below the monthly acceleration band would indicate that we will see that line. Even if we get a big earnings pop, it is unlikely to launch us on a new leg higher and will probably be faded once the initial euphoria is over. I'm not saying that as a company Apple will have problems, but those holding large amounts of the shares might, thanks to their other holdings. Often in times of distress, the best stuff gets sold simply because there is no bid for the really crappy stuff. ...and there is a lot of really crappy stuff out there.

The longer we wait until we hit the 200-day, the higher it gets. And once we do, I don't expect AAPL to do much worse than languish. Fundamentals take over at some point for companies this strong.

Whole lotta nothin' (new) today, IMHO. 200-day keeps moving up in the meantime. 589 or so now.
At least 595 is support. Kinda.

What I hate most about the chart is that we have been imbedded oversold so long it will take a lot of pull backs on the way up just to get back to 650.

Mark, that stretch from 522-ish to 618 drove me nuts.

iPad, is it instructive to trendline the recent downward trend?
USing the daily chart, I saw a channel of about 40 points or so with the upper trendline covering the last "top" for AAPL at around 704 or so and a lower parallel trendline (which AAPL broke below on Wednesday), but I have no idea if it's really all that helpful.

AAPL DAILY CHART (with my notes): A few questions - do you expect to see the May lows before ANY move up? - also, why do I get sexual pics of women every time I bring up your charts? Weird.

Just don't click on them, Phoebes. By the way, how did you survive Sally? We were lucky, and got power back 3 days after the storm (we live 2 doors down from a First Aid station, so that helped). Saw quite a few trucks from Alabama Power (gave them a "Roll Tide", so hopefully they weren't Auburn fans) and a few from Texas, and thanked them for helping us out. That's one thing about the US, in a tragedy, we pull together as a country, and other states come to help us; maybe, the bozos in DC with the 7% approval rating (and who are these 7% thinking they're doing a good job) can learn something here, especially the way Gov. Christie and Pres. Obama put partisanship crap aside to get help for the victims of Sandy. That's America at its best.

AAPL DAILY CHART (with my notes): From this chart, *possibly* Friday's MACD-h bar had bullish divergence. The valley's slope appears to be going positive. That said, we've had enough bull traps; so let price confirm! Until we reclaim a key moving average, still can't rule out *yet another* retest of the lows.

Probably putting the kiss of death on it, but a potential island bottom is in play.

Needs an isolated candle first, right? Shhhhhhhhhh, you never know when something good may show up. Not saying we are going up/down or anything tomorrow, just saying the potential is there.

Well, you still need the lonely candle.
To get it...well, I don't really wanna talk about it. Enough pain already.
I'll take a good ol' power bounce bear trap.

That would imply that there would have to be a gap on the right side. Maybe by Thursday. Lets hope so. I can't do anymore down, neither can the dogs, they are tired of being kicked around.

I don't want to see an unfilled gap up. Then I worry about gap-filling one day.

I can see 3 overhead gaps created from this move down: 574.54 – 580.09, 642.06 – 644, 695.12 – 699.36 (not adjusting for dividends).
